RB Isaac Guerendo, SF (1 Viewer)

he's far from a number one rb

14 for 85, and what would have been two scores had he not slid to kill the end of game clock, last time we saw him play for San Fran offense. Won't debate merits of writing him off due to his depth position - that might hold very true. But to say he's far from a #1 RB if he gets his chance, I dunno. Small sample, but while I agree his eye test shows suspect vision at times, it also shows the 4.33 speed and his size - he's not a small RB and he's moving FAST.
As you know I am holding two roster spots with Mason & Guerendo and they're not getting dropped.

The nose knows, as you know, nose. You keep that Guerendo, friend. You keep him near.

Grabbed him in my other league, where men can be civilized and not have waiver wires eaten to the bone by the horde of starving FBG long-bench savages.

 :EarToTheGround:
Nice call... you and Chaka both
Well no kidding he's the #1 now.

Literally the #1, #2 and #3 RBs had to go down with injury in order for him to get this spot. He wins by default since there is LITERALLY no one left. You are awarded no points.
I bet your a fun one at partys.....Your the type dude that takes your buddy to the racetrack and when he is happy after hitting a longshot you say: well of course you won since everybody else lost.
Sure, that's it. You're like a regular Nostradamus around here.

Keeping expectations in check, but seems like every year we have a distant backup come in at the end of the season with fresh legs and get er done.

I did notice the size/speed (6'0"-221 lbs/4.33-40 time) was impressive, as was his overall athleticism score at he combine (99% - 1st among RB's).

He did struggle with injuries early in his college career....missed most of 2019 and 2020 with a hammy, and most of 2021 with a Lisfranc. Remained healthy in 2022-2023.

Low tread - 231 rushes during college career + 42 receptions. Should be super-fresh.

Draft profile overview: The transfer out of Wisconsin is an ascending running back prospect who was finally able to get enough carries to show what he's capable of. Guerendo is built like a prototypical Badger runner, with a thick, well-proportioned frame. He was a much more decisive runner in 2023, but his cut-and-go burst is fairly average. He's not sudden but runs with appropriate elusiveness, using subtle side-steps to continue the run's downhill momentum. He can catch it out of the backfield and protect his quarterback, making him a suitable three-down backup. Guerendo's size, skill set and demeanor are built for an NFL workload, and he could sneak into a bigger role in the future if he continues to progress.

"He was a track guy in high school but you don't always see that speed in his play. You see people's pads rattle when he gets into them." -- NFC regional scout

Heading into week 14... no better time to blow the rest of your FABB budget. I bid $82 of $100. After trading Najee Harris for CeeDee Lamb (post injury), I am RB starved outside of my 3 keepers (Breece, Kyren and JT). None of them are performing like I'd hoped.

I think Guerendo is capable of doing what we saw Mason do earlier in the season. Hopefully...

49ers just claimed Israel Abanikanda, who was released by the Jets a few days ago.

I don’t see him overtaking Guerendo, but don’t sleep on him. As with Guerendo, he was blocked from playing time behind Breece and Allen on the Jets, but he can run the ball if the opportunity arises.

Won’t they promote Patrick Taylor? I assume he’s either on their PS or already on the active roster. I liked Abanikanda and drafted him in a lot of leagues, but long since dropped him.

Probably if they think he’s worth it

I have Izzy in a league where I would love for him to become relevant.

But it won’t be this week.

Interesting, is he next in line or Taylor does anyone know?

I don't think we'll know until the game itself - also obviously depends on which or both are active for the game.

I’d expect Taylor to be ahead since he knows the system.

I'm not sure the 9ers are going to have a fantastic run these final few weeks, but I did my part in this grand experiment and threw a bunch of FAAB at him. I don't feel great starting him with so much uncertainty, but if everything looks good next week, the Rams should be a juicy matchup.

Don’t they have a couple of their best OL out? How long is Trent Williams ou?

49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Diagnosed with foot sprain

by RotoWire
(1 hr ago) San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Guerendo has been diagnosed with a foot sprain and will be considered day-to-day heading into Thursday's game against the Rams, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Shanahan said that the team will "evaluate [Guerendo] over the next few days, to see if he'll have a shot" to suit up for Thursday Night Football, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Before exiting Sunday's 38-13 win over the Bears in the fourth quarter, Guerendo compiled 128 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns while operating as San Francisco's lead backfield option. In the event that Guerendo isn't able to play Thursday, Patrick Taylor will be the next man up at running back, with Christian McCaffrey (knee), Jordan Mason (ankle) and Elijah Mitchell (hamstring) all on IR. The 49ers also have Ke'Shawn Vaughn and Israel Abanikanda available behind Taylor.

Any good reports out there on a timeline yet?
San Francisco 49ers rookie running back Isaac Guerendo (foot) had his jersey on at the team' walkthrough practice on Tuesday and was walking around without a limp, but he didn't take part and was listed as a non-participant for the second straight day this week. The 49ers will see how much progress Guerendo makes over the next two days. If Guerendo is unable to play on Thursday against the division-rival Los Angeles Rams, the 49ers' RB pecking order will likely be Patrick Taylor Jr., then Ke'Shawn Vaughn and then Israel Abanikanda. Christian McCaffrey (knee) is done for the year, while Jordan Mason (ankle) could also miss the rest of the year with a high-ankle sprain. The 24-year-old Guerendo delivered immediately for fantasy managers in the Week 14 win over the Chicago Bears, going for 128 scrimmage yards and two scores, but right now, he's up in the air to play on a short turnaround in Week 15.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Even as a Guerendo owner, I'm kind of hoping he doesn't play. Would be tempting to start him if he does, but could also see him sharing the load with Taylor if he's clearly not 100%.

I don't take any advice from a guy who spits on fans.

If the writer can do this though, I’ll hang up and listen.

Who used a magic loogie.

I have a BYE this week, but I'm not sure if its better he sits or plays and has a decent game with no setbacks. I'm between him and Aaron Jones for my RB2 if he suits up week 16.

I’m with you. In the one league that I roster him, I have a bye. So I’m fine with him sitting another week to heal up :)

I don’t know - not sure I can bank a playoff matchup on him saying he “feels good” on a short week. He could still feel good in a timeshare situation if Shanahan doesn’t want to overwork him.

Very tough decision for holders tonight even if he gets the “go”. Guerrero, Patrick Taylor, or the Jets backfield are my options. I have a feeling whatever choice I make will not be the correct one.

Same exact boat. I have Taylor, Hall and Allen. Leaning sitting Taylor and seeing what happens with Hall for Sunday. Dumb Jets rolling out that Davis chump last week doesn't have me feeling good about Allen if Hall sits.
