RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt, WAS (4 Viewers)

He definitely looks better than the pedigree of a 7th round rookie running back. I was impressed with his vision and decisiveness. Read the blocking ahead quickly and made the appropriate cut.

Could have been an absolute enormous day. He had a carry on about his own 30 in which if he were able to juke the last guy to the left he would have had a 70 yard TD. He sometimes appears to string too steps together at times, something that can easily be improved. With Daniels as a threat, he has a chance to continue this success.

Had a great game while on everybody's bench. But wouldn't advise starting him in week 2 against a Green Bay defense which held Detroit's running game to 2.1 yards per carry in week 1.
Weeks 3 and 4 against Las Vegas and Atlanta will finally be wheels-up for the rookie.

Giants have a very good D-Line and he did fine against them. I’m starting him in a few leagues with confidence :homer:

The thing that’s tempering my enthusiasm for him is that it seems like he won’t get a lot of PPR-gold receptions. Seems to be the domain of Ekeler and even so, dump offs are not a very needed part of Daniels’ game.

Just watched the condensed replay of the WAS-NYG game and yeah he really did look good. There was one play where he made a really killer (and hustle) block to spring Daniels on a scramble but the whole thing was called back for an (unrelated) penalty. FWIW. Had one target and it was designed for him on a screen pass. He didn't chip the edge rusher and don't know if he was supposed to but he was able to get turned around to look for the ball immediately but the QB missed him. I *think*. Not gonna overanalyze but dude looked good.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt only played 33% of the snaps, only got 50% of the RB carries, and only ran 19% of the routes in Week 1.

But Chris Rodriguez was a healthy scratch, and JCM got far more than what was blocked. Extremely positive debut.

@Underdog
Jacory Croskey-Merritt in Week 1...

6th longest rush in the league (42 yards)
30% of carries went for 10+ yards
50% of carries gained 5+ yards
+39 rush yards over expected
3rd in rushing EPA

Finished as the RB11 in fantasy football 🚀

Already a low-end RB2 for fantasy
Will be tough sledding against the Pack this week, but the tide seems to rising. Going to give him another week before entertaining throwing him in the lineup.
Yeah, I'm giving it another week as well. However at that point, I have no doubt they'll start giving Rodriguez those carries and Bill will be lucky to touch the field. Only because he's the better player and on my team and NFL coaches rarely do the smart thing.

Highly unlikely. The coaches and fans LOVE Bill. He's only going to get more touches and be a bigger part of the offense moving forward. Book it.

Start him over pollard?
Different league could start him over DK metcalf but that seems silly against Seattle.

@jasrifootball
Wow: NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah thinks Commanders’ 7th round rookie RB Bill Croskey Merritt has a legitimate chance to win rookie of the year 😳

“He's got a legit shot to be the Rookie Of The Year... in this offense, with the weapons they have, the QB they have, and the OL that's upgraded, he's gonna have an absolute monster year.”

The hype train rolls on.

actually demoting to my bench in a couple spots. nothing to do with faith in him but I just have some other options and I think Ekeler will stay involved for now.

I have him in multiple leagues and I'm not starting him tonight. Short week, Ekeler still heavily involved, and a tough matchup.

He will definitely make my lineups many times in future weeks. But this week is a gamble IMO.

It would be smart to maintain the committee status on a short week. But if there were one back on the roster to scale back their workload on a short week to keep fresh rest of season, it would be Ekeler. But yeah short week tough matchup and I have better options than Bill in a couple spots.

But in other spots: circular traction propulsion devices ^

Bill Kills Vol 2: unfortunately he's confronting a bunch of bloodthirsty Kiddos fresh off successful vengeance. around 40-50 all purpose yards with no TDs. sorry to explode some hearts

To anyone who hasn't figured this part out yet - he looks like a guy that can score every time he touches the ball. And it's going to continue to make him even harder to bench. One of those signature games of like 14/145/2 is on it's way just watch. I don't mean tonight but I don't not mean tonight.

And he's going to start getting more targets too. A guy you want to give the ball in space as they say. They had a designed screen for him last week that didn't quite connect but I mean those things go for -3 yards as often as they go for 40 and a house call with a guy like this and I think they're going to want to keep doing that kind of thing.

Starting Bill in RB slot over Kenneth Walker. Might still flex Walker. Might not. 10 teamer's always got good options but I'm not playing wait-and-see any more right now with Bill.

Bill is in.

Why is he even called Bill? I missed that part.

What I heard: When he was a kid he looked like Little Bill from the cartoon and the name stuck.

I wonder if he hated it and that's why it stuck. That's usually how it works.

I had some students some years ago who called one of their friends that and he wanted to beat they a$$

My spider-sense is telling me Mr. Bill will have around 150 total combined yards and at least 1 TD tonight. Maybe 2. :drive:

Love Bill but tonight is gonna be tough. I think Jayden tucks and runs more. Should be a closer game in general. In PPR I'm starting Keenan Allen over Bill in flex (at least right now lol)
