This is exactly correct. It is not an excuse but it is reality. JCM has had very little room and has made as much possible out of it as he could. You can see the skill he has if he ever is given a chance to do something without getting hit 4 yds behind the line of scrimmage on every carry. I don't see many (if any) RB's doing much more than him if they were in his exact situation (same play calls & blocking).

To clarify my first last post in fairness as well, I do think he's better/more talented than what his numbers are showing the past 4 weeks. I just also think the hype on him coming into the season and especially after week 2 was WAY too high. People declaring him an RB1 talent, and scoffing at the idea of trading him for a future 1st round pick was a little out of control IMO. I think his actual talent level falls somewhere between that high and his most recent lows. Feels like his low IRL draft capital and his low dynasty cost Apr-Jul was weighing too much on the eval. In that context though, he's still a resounding hit; crushed outta the park cost vs what buyers got so soon. My biggest gripe is still his lack of usage in the passing game. Really caps his value in PPR formats, even half point.
Even though I have to agree with some that there's a high likelihood they get another RB to compete with him by next season, that team is so talent deprived it feels like it would be a big mistake to spend much capital ($$ or draft picks) to get a high profile/expensive one. So if he IS above average talent wise, he shouldn't have a problem beating out some mediocre competition.
That's what I said a few days ago. It's telegraphed. When Bill is in, it's a run up the middle. They need to involve him in the passing game.

Washingtons primary back for next season isn’t currently on the roster, imo.

Just saying, when people talk about missing running lanes, I become skeptical. We don't know the play design and, what looks obvious on a TV angle is probably not so obvious when surrounded by a couple tons of beef

Just something I've noticed recently...it's kinda funny watching people tap dance around Jeanty and his 19 for 60 tonight with the blistering sub-4.0 YPC on the season, lol, all the while not giving Bill and his 4.7 YPC the same grace with his situation. And Jeanty with hands like Michael Myers for the INT. Bill would've been ripped a new butthole.

As they sure won't be winning and passing much with MM at QB..

Draft capital doesn't change the facts. Jeanty looks every bit as bad. Give Bill the same workload.

Lol. Draft status matters a ton, but Bill has already passed a lot of the hurdles he'll face as a late-round pick. From here, it's just going to depend on how good he is, just like Jeanty.
That said, I was mostly making an observation. It's pretty amusing watching the contrast.

The problem is, largely because of draft status we can all be confident Jeanty will be the #1 RB in Las Vegas going into 2026 (& 2027 barring a complete Trent Richardson meltdown).
Despite his positive traits, JCM needs to do a lot more quick, fast and in a hurry if he wants that same security going into 2026.

What you say is true, but it still comes down to talent, of which Bill has plenty. Jeanty will have a longer leash, but it's not going to ultimately save him. Both will need to eventually produce to stick around.
I'd be more worried about Bill if Washington hadn't come out with how much they like him. The last thing they need to worry about is drafting a RB with a day-1 or day-2 pick. They're a mess.

Day one or two would be insane, unless a crazy value shows up in the 3rd but, even then it would be foolish.
But, after last week I am not sure the Commanders have the same feeling. It's hard to say with how that game played out but, I wonder if they go back to Rodriguez a bit more this week.
JCM went 5-15 when the game was "within reach" and 7-23 when it wasn't. He was just as inefficient against the soft defenses in the second half as he was before then. Rodriguez came in when they were down 28 so, he never saw the more stacked boxes (in general) but, he was objectively better. But, it wasn't a ton of usage for either. I would love to see JCM with 24 touches but, I don't see that happening.
With Kliff Kinsbury I just worry that JCM won't get a true shot at getting into a full game flow to show what he can do, if anything.

Kicked him to the waiver curb even after he was dealt to me in a package deal. He's not involved in the passing game at all. No Daniels? Splitting time with RB carries.

When an offense isn't flourishing, yeah, everyone is at risk except the proven studs. I wouldn't look for it to get better anytime soon, either (likely not this season). The combination of missing Daniels, their OL, and the D, will be hard for Bill to overcome. It wouldn't surprise me if Rodriguez got more touches...they're desperate.
Jeanty has zero competition. They don't even have a guy like Rodriguez. Jeanty will continue to get a lot of touches, probably with similar results. I was one of the few people who thought he was vastly overrated. Not that he's a bad prospect...Jeanty is a good RB prospect, but he's got limitations. I couldn't believe the Raiders took him at 6. I thought it was all smoke when I was hearing it pre-draft. Turrrible pick. They could've had a guy like Ollie in the 6th, for instance, and taken an OL with their 1st-rounder.

This is the week CR takes over Redskins rb job. I would grab him if I needed rb help .
I think with MM at QB ,they need to pound the ball. Chris is built for full workload. He's a big dude ,not small like Bill.

Often when a QB goes down the team will lean more on the run game since Mariota < Daniels.
That said, I don’t anticipate the Daniels injury moving the needle on JCM. He’s an emergency flex at this point, with a roughly 5 point expectation, and maybe a 12 point ceiling if he gets a TD any given Sunday.
That all said, I do agree with those who’ve posted that the Commies are underutilizing him. But negative game scripts and little to no use in the passing game makes for an unappealing combo for FF purposes.

I believe that as well doesn't mean we are correct. I believe the starting rb for the Commanders isn't in the team right now. Maybe they sign a veteran like Walker, Etienne or Hall or they use a high draft pick on one and JCM is a cheap back up.
