RB James Cook, BUF (3 Viewers)

What are people's expectations moving forward? Is the production sustainable, or is there too much touchdown dependence? He won't be cheap but I'm looking to buy- might offer the WR needy Cook manager my JSN and see where that goes.

He’s red hot the past two weeks so I expect some regression.
Regress to the top.

He regressed half a touchdown last night. :)
I wouldn't say he's TD dependent. The opportunities and yards are there for a solid floor.

James Cook rushed 22 times for 117 yards and a touchdown in a Week 4 win over the Saints, adding 18 yards receiving on three catches.

More important than just Cook’s numbers was his role. He handled 22 of the 25 non-quarterback carries in this game, and his touchdown run was a one-yard rush where the Bills opted to go with Cook instead of Josh Allen. Given how explosive Cook remains in the open field, this kind of role on the Bills’ offense makes him a clear RB1 in fantasy.

Just a reminder that this guy is really good.

Between ARSB, Cook, & Jeanty, I’m currently 6th overall in the NFFC National BB contest.

Hopefully Worthy catches a TD and contributes this week, too.

Update: 3rd overall.

I have never been a Cooks owner but wished I had him on my teams every year. He seems he can do it all. I do not understand why he is not on the field more.

They refuse to throw it to him.
Be sure to take your most dynamic player in the backfield (who would be a matchup nightmare for linebackers) off the field *every* 3rd down.
This. I know I'm no OC or HC but ******* how do you take your most dynamic playmaker besides Allen off the field every 3rd down?? I just don't understand it. It's not like Cook can't catch. Are they trying to 'preserve' him? If that's the case give him some time off with early downs.

I was at work all day and just box score surfed. I had no idea until now that he balled this hard. Wow. Well done buddy.

1 target the last 3 games.

Tough matchup on the ground today. I’m interested to see if the Bills continue their stubborn ways refusing to use Cook as a receiver. Even on early downs they don’t design receiving touches for him in space.

They never changed last year so I’m expecting more of the same.

It’s difficult to bench this guy but he’s a big bust candidate this week.

Guessing that the lack of receptions is due to not wanting to overwork him because he's so valuable as a runner. They have the benefit of a multitude of pass catchers, even if none of them is an alpha.

Funny looking back and the fantasy community was convinced that this guy couldn't be a workhorse and could only thrive in an RBBC.

I get having a 3rd down and/or two minute RB but they don’t scheme throws to him on early downs either.

On most pass plays he just jogs out to the flat and stands there because he knows Allen won’t throw it to him. It’s weird.

To be fair, Allen has never really been a checkdown guy. More likely to just try to squeeze it in downfield or just take off if he doesn't see anyone open.

And that's fine, but why not the occasional screen or swing pass? They schemed up several easy throws for TEs and WRs last night. I just think it's odd they do nothing of the sort for Cook.

He had the one catch late. It seems like that might be available all the time if they wanted it.

I momentarily forgot my manners yesterday and flipped Josh Allen the double birds on his 2nd tush push. Apologies, Josh. My mama raised me better than that.

Cook almost did too. You could tell he was a little perturbed that he didn't get to touch paydirt after doing all the work.

DNP today.

Apparently injured his ankle in the KC game.

Could be precautionary. Then again.

R. Davis or T. Johnson just in case?
Davis is the direct backup for early downs. Johnson is the passing down back.
Just dropped E. Demercado for Davis.

In dire straits for RB and have both B. Knight and Demercado. Either one of those guys against the SEA D would be ditched for a RB against the Miami run D. Worth the chance Cook actually hurt.

Davis and Johnson would split the backfield.
Davis isn't much better than Johnson.

Johnson had incredible game in the playoffs last year. Coaches have alot of trust in him..

And davis had incredible game filling in for cook one game last year.

Johnson has played many more snaps than Davis this year.
Theirs a good reason why. The coaches know who is better. That's why Johnson has played more than Davis.

Think what you want. Johnson would out touch Davis if Cook can't go.

Not sure Johnson’s role would change much, but what do I know.

I am guessing precautionary as its a Wednesday practice. Definitely worth monitoring, but I too grabbed Davis just in case.
I think they sit him this week. I think Ray Davis takes the Cook role to start the game and if it goes well on drive one it’ll continue. Johnson will have the same role and likely all third downs.

It’s Wednesday.

Have we learned nothing about Wednesday practice reports and starters?

Whatever happened to him, I watched every snap of that game and he was in there on the last series running fine, no limp. My concern level will begin if he doesn’t practice tomorrow. I’m betting “limited” then “full” then “was removed from the injury report”.

I think they sit him this week.
I’m deeply skeptical this happens.

Time will tell.
McDermott loves sitting players unless they are 100% and it usually costs them 1-2 games trying to sleep walk to a win. The video and FF Twitter docs think it’s a mild mid foot sprain. The laundry list of players on the injury report this week is alarming.

Hopefully he’s limited Thursday, Full Friday. Anything else they’ll sit him. McDermott usually tells everyone Friday morning and rarely goes the gamesmanship GTD route.
