He’s the DAL starting RB. He can be had as a throw in a trade. I’ll take a shot on him with the expectation that he’s a bye week fill in with some upside, especially in PPR.Is anyone still buying this guy? I just think he's had 4 years to prove himself, injuries or not, he's yet to show he's more than a JAG. I wouldn't be surprised if Sanders or Blue ends up outproducing given their relative ADP.
I'd say Dowdle has proven as much as Williams the last few years though. Call it a push? He’s the DAL starting RB. He can be had as a throw in a trade. Rice Dowdle was relevant there last season. I don’t think he’s much better than Javonte, if at all.

Well, it's better than saying "I feel completely like Jerry Jones".Cowboys RB Javonte Williams heading into 2025 season fully healthy: 'I feel completely like myself'
I agree with this. But I’m not sure yet if any of them will get enough work to be startable in fantasySure. Rico Dowdle signed a 1-year $2.75M contract and he was the lead back on this team. I’m not saying Javonte is a fantasy RB1. I think he can at least be Dowdle and be a good Flex/bye week fill in and he’s basically free.He signed a 1 year deal for 3 mill.
I'm reading that as the entire NFL thinks he has no chance of being a lead back.
Yes, he’s 25, but in dog years. He just turned 25 last month and he has 764 career touches in the NFL (416 in college).
He's absolutely worth taking a chance on and is easily the first Cowboys runner I would take in all fantasy formats.

Very true but the counter to that if I wanted to argue for Javonte's value is the basic premise there are points/fantasy production someone has to get and his comp is a guy they signed for $1.2m and a 5th round pick with those costs both suggesting the entire NFL does not like odds of either of them being lead backs either. He signed a 1 year deal for 3 mill.

Out of those investments the 5th round pick is the biggest one.
I look at Dallas lack of commitment to upgrading the RB room last year as a major negative in their team construction. I get a feeling they don't share my opinion. I think in their world I think they look at getting over 1300 yards from Rico Dowdle, another RB who the league was not that into this off-season, and feel like that justifies their approach.
I think that's part of it along but I think their main belief is they'd rather invest in beefing up the OL and if that's in place they can always find a few cheap RB's to churn out some production. It's not a bad premise and they can point to a few things which shows they are actually right with this approach. But the other side of that argument is they are creating a situation that's ideal to get the best out of a RB and just seeing what a stud RB behind a built up OL did for the Eagles.Very true but the counter to that if I wanted to argue for Javonte's value is the basic premise there are points/fantasy production someone has to get and his comp is a guy they signed for $1.2m and a 5th round pick with those costs both suggesting the entire NFL does not like odds of either of them being lead backs either. He signed a 1 year deal for 3 mill.

It feels like they're overcorrecting from investing so much into Zeke. Everyone gets that RB is a devalued position in the modern NFL but they have taken it to another level.
This.I've been holding Javonte for so long, I can't cut him now. Won't cost me much - might as well see what he can do with a new team, another year removed from injury.

“Javonte Williams is finally healthy, and showing why Denver was so high on him after drafting him in 2021. Right now, he’d probably be the lead dog, with Jaydon Blue (who’ll likely have a role on third down) and Phil Mafah fighting for snaps, and Miles Sanders bringing experience to the room.”
Even when he was healthy he couldn't shake Mel Gordon his first couple seasons, I'm a little skepticalPat Thorman

Javonte Williams continues to see most reps with starters, per @jonmachota.
He hasn't averaged at least 4.0 YPC since 2022.

Sell high!!Javonte is looking noice... glad I got him in all 3 leagues I am in
Yeah for sure. That looked like old JavonteLooked strunk as hell dragging those dude for that 10 yard redzone run. Jeez. Welcome back, Javonte #noJinx!
Not looking like such great trade right now. Traded Javonte in 2 dynasty leagues this year both for 2nd round picks.Just traded Javonte in a 1 QB FFPC league for a random future 2nd of a team I think might miss the playoffs.![]()
Join the club 0 for 50 in my redraft leagues this yearI thought he could be great value a couple of weeks ago.
Soured on him before drafts for various reasons.
Week 1 overreaction, kicking myself for not taking a shot.
If you drafted him he would very likely be on your bench this week thoughI thought he could be great value a couple of weeks ago.

Javonte Williams rushed 15 times for 54 yards and two touchdowns in the Cowboys’ Week 1 win over the Eagles, adding two receptions for 10 yards.
Williams capped each of the Cowboys’ first two drives with one-yard scoring plunges. That’s good work if you can get it. If you include passing touchdowns, it was just the third two-score effort of Williams’ checkered career. Williams did not look explosive between the tackles, but he dominated snaps and touches, a trend that will undoubtedly continue for Week 2 after Miles Sanders lost a red zone fumble this evening. That being said, we would expect rookie Jaydon Blue to make his NFL debut against the Giants after he was a “healthy scratch” this evening. Blue missed most of training camp with injury. Despite tonight’s (expected) heavy workload, Williams is still more of a FLEX than RB2 for fantasy purposes.

Who's buying high after one week? What value did he gain... did he go from a 4th to a 3rd round pick? Seriously though, who is making aggressive offers for Javante Williams besides people who don't follow football and why are those people in dynasty leagues.Perfect sell-high opportunity IMO. He did look good, although I attribute that more to the strong push of the OL than Javonte himself. Even Sanders broke away for that long run untouched before he was caught from behind.
There are a lot of starting RB-hungry teams out there. Maybe they see Blue inactive and Sanders putting the ball on the ground and think Javonte has some runway.Who's buying high after one week? Edit - that said I was an idiot who started Barkley over Williams so I may just be bitter.
I'm guessing someone will cash in for an underperforming RB2 at draft cost. I can see someone parting with RJ Harvey for Javonte after week 1 ironicallyWho's buying high after one week?
