RB Jerick McKinnon, KC (1 Viewer)

I don't know - he was pretty serviceable a few years ago. Kittle became a star when he was his QB.
Aaaaaaand now they’re saying Kittle will likely be OUT due to concerns about the same turf that done killed half of our team.

I liked Mullins a couple years ago. He had better weapons than (awe man, I can’t believe have to Google who the Niners receivers are right now)

I'd be shocked if Kittle played given the turf situation. Probably better team and fantasy wise if he does sit another week.

Shanahan supposedly loves him but he's probably going to be working with weaponry of Aiyuk, Bourne, Taylor, Reed, McKinnon, Wilson, and Scrabbleboard in a game they shouldn't need many points to win.

Given the turf situation and the. RBBC philosophy, It would not surprise me to see Wilson get a lot of work, but we will see Jet....

Not playing FF this year, so no stock in him other than the FBG best ball contest. consider this an unbiased view.

Appears to be a pitch count situation because all reports indicate Jet’s talent is elite. Coach wanted to ride Mostart and Coleman through the bulk of the season then unleash his fresh trump card closer to playoffs. SF is talented enough to make the playoffs sans Jet...fast forward a couple weeks as the injuries mount... it will be interesting to see if Shanahan let’s the genie out of the bottle early to give the team a lift.

FF: Circle Jet could be a league winner if your team makes the playoffs and worth a roster spot.

I am not sure I but into this. It’s not like we are talking the Patriots with Brady going easy on Gronk so he is fresh for the playoffs. SF plays in a division with three really good teams. They are far from a lock to make the playoffs and need every win possible to stay in contention. If McKinnon is a weapon, they won’t hide him all season. He may be on a snap count early on to make sure he is healthy and has his sea legs back. But I don’t see them trying to outsmart teams and sneak him into the game plan in December.

Pretty confident zero NFL head coaches have this mindset.

All the negative talk screams buy low because the high reward is still in play. I think most people are missing their shot. Of course, the majority could be right and a whopping 3 carries per game is his role....🥺

Jet and Claypool are the two redraft players I would have targeted late as cheap end game difference makers before the season started. My optimism as playoff gems remains high for both.

Predictions for tomorrow?

Most rankings have him pretty high. I added him off waivers because my flex is always in limbo especially as I nurse some injuries so he’s a spot start for me tomorrow, which never seem to pan out for me.... making my guy tell me it will be the Jeff Wilson show.

Same predicament you are in... may pivot to Josh Kelly or DHenderson instead of McKinnon. Anyone guess.

Just a thought - SF is returning to NY where last week they lost multiple players to leg injuries.  Not sure that a guy coming off a leg injury is going to be relied upon to carry the load.

I wouldn't call him the RB1 until he has more than 3 carries. Mostert gashed the Jets for an 80 yard score, I'm not that impressed with him running behind 44 into the hole and coming out the other side for 55 yards. And BTW while we are talking about that 55 Yd Scamper let's discuss his option at the end to simply jog out of bounds(the right option) rather than try and take on two defenders and looking like a dolphin trapped in a net, he's gonna get hurt doing that.
I don't see that at all.  I see jet navigate bodies on the ground around him to get to the LOS then jump laterally through the hands of two defenders before scotting for 55 yards.

One of them will go off.   I'd guess Mckinnon, he was good the year AD was out.  But he'll get injured after a game or 3 of relevancy.

You and me both!!! I will start Henderson then 😂
I think Henderson looks better, but McKinnon has the TD in the first half, so I got what I was looking for already out of my flex start.

Heres hoping for much more from both through half two.

Rams down a lot in the first would have me worried about Henderson but he look pretty good catching the ball as well these last two games.

Anyone get a trade out of him?  Im trying to get a WR2 for him, but trying to find a RB needy team heavy at WR.

Ceedee Lamb, Boyd, AJ Green, all guys I’d take for him, but doubtful I could get that to work on the other side.
I think you are wanting more than someone would pay even if they had a lot of WR depth. McKinnon is still thought of as a role player and the RB3 on SF. He was +/- the RB60 / 200th player drafted a few weeks ago. There were likely 60 WR's drafted by then. He had a bigger workload with Mostert out, but will likely go back to being a TD dependent fantasy RB3 or flex (unlikely to average a TD per game with so few touches). That is probably worth a middle of the road WR3 or an upside WR4. Maybe if Mostert is out longer, McKinnon gets consistent touches, and he makes the most of them you might be able to get a little more for him, but that would probably be in a couple weeks but not right now.

I agree with your analysis.  Figured someone might want to know his value (all leagues and players are different) after reading that article Faust posted which basically says SELL SELL SELL!!! Which I did.

For what it’s worth. The guy I was was offering has those 3 WR on his bench. And was starting Kerryon at RB2 due to injury last week. I offered for CeeDee and and settled for AJ. I’m happy with it. He also started burrow over Watson last week so he may not want so much Bengals.

This is a non PPR league and running backs are decimated on some teams and McKinnon has outscored green 37.8 to 11.6 so far this season.

Mckinnon slots into his RB2 slot this week, and AJ Green slides into my WR2 spot this week.

I flipped him for Ertz before the NYG game, some folks are really high on Mckinnon or really desperate for a potential gem at RB,,

He's already nursing a rib injury.

49ers RB Jerick McKinnon (ribs) practiced Thursday.

McKinnon exited the Niners' Week 3 game against the Giants with bruised ribs. Jeff Wilson took over the team's backfield and scored two second half touchdowns. McKinnon finished the day with 14 carries for 38 yards and a score. He should be active this week in a good matchup against the Eagles. McKinnon and Wilson should be serviceable, at worst, for fantasy managers if Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman remain sidelined.

Jerick McKinnon (ribs) said he's good to go for Sunday's game against the Eagles.

McKinnon bruised his ribs last Sunday and has been getting some load management this week. "Knee feels good. Ribs feel good," McKinnon said. "I'm three games in this year instead of none. Been on my body to make sure I recover well and am good from Sunday to Sunday." McKinnon's 14 rushes last Sunday were arguably more than expected, but perhaps those will be dialed back for Week 4 after the bruising. McKinnon's path to fantasy relevance remains his pass catching. He will be an upside/RB3 FLEX vs. the Eagles.

1 Week and we are into load management with able bodies coming off the injured list slowly but surely and even Jeff Wilson might have earned a few touches. What a mess.

Jerick McKinnon rushed 14 times for 54 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' Week 4 loss to the Eagles, adding seven catches for 43 yards and a touchdown.

McKinnon was the only back to see a significant role for San Francisco versus the Eagles. Jeff Wilson carried the ball three times and saw one target. FB Kyle Juszczyk was the only other back to log a touch. McKinnon has scored in every game for San Francisco this year and has looked electric with the ball in his hands. He's a plug-and-play RB2 as long as Raheem Moster (knee) is out next week. McKinnon's role will be scaled back if Mostert is active but he has earned a role that still gives him some fantasy value as a pass-catcher. McKinnon projects as an RB3/flex if Mostert is healthy for Week 5.

Jerick McKinnon rushed six times for 18 yards and caught 2-of-3 targets for 10 yards in Week 6 against the Rams.

McKinnon barely saw the field before Raheem Mostert left with an ankle injury in the third quarter. He only had two catches for the second straight week, with the 49ers using Deebo Samuel more in the short passing game. Mostert was quickly ruled out after his injury, suggesting he could miss time. McKinnon will be a plug-in RB2 if Mostert can't get cleared for Week 7.

Mostert HAS, HC said probably going on IR.

I'm confused by Jet's usage last game when he came in relief.

Is he going to get another shot at leading the backfield or is it Hasty now?

He will be the lead dog in the backfield, Shanny will still like to show that he was a good investment 2 years ago. With that said, I think he will look to have Hasty or another RB get some looks to take some punishment off of Jet.

Hope you are right. Jet was a guy I thought could be a league winner and sneaky player to snag. Reports out of camp left a vibe that he was electric. something special. Team loves to run. Added up to $$$ right?  Thought there would be a ramp up in touches, but the limited use has me doubting that call. Might be a dreaded bit role RB who can make splash plays.

Jerick McKinnon ran three times for -1 yard in the 49ers' Week 7 loss to the Patriots.

McKinnon spent almost the entirefirst half on the sideline while Jeff Wilson eviscerated the New England defense. He finally got a few touches in garbage time. The first person to decode McKInnon's weekly role in the Niners' offense should win a Nobel prize. Wilson left with an ankle injury so McKinnon could be in line for passing down work next week against the Seahawks. Expect JaMycal Hasty to be the lead back for the Niners if Wilson is out.

Was Jet late to meetings or something? Seems like he is in the dog house. Why is Shanny keeping him active each game when someone from the ps is ahead of him on the depth chart?

Good question. He hasn't been playing very well recently is I think the main answer.

Its sad but I think the injuries may have paid a somewhat permanent toll with him.

After the game Kyle Shanahan said he wanted to give Jerick McKinnon some rest (this game) after playing him a lot the past couple of weeks. McKinnon had his ribs banged up recently. Shanahan said that rest should help McKinnon in future weeks.

Ah that would explain it. Hard to twist your frame the way he does while running with ribs bothering you.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said the team planned on resting Jerick McKinnon in Week 7 against the Patriots due to his big early season workload.

Once again, things that could have been brought to fantasy managers' attention yesterday. It looks like the Niners were protecting McKinnon from overuse after he served as a primary back on and off for the past month and a half. McKinnon saw a measly three carries in garbage time against the Pats. Jeff Wilson, who left Sunday's game with a serious looking ankle injury, dominated backfield snaps and touches against New England. If Wilson misses Week 8, McKinnon and JaMycal Hasty will be the only healthy 49ers backs, though Tevin Coleman reportedly has a chance to come back for Week 8

That was some info I could have used before the game!  lol.......anyone trusting him next week?  They may have no choice but to use him....

The Athletic's Matt Barrows said 49ers RB Jerick McKinnon has been "battling tired legs" in recent weeks.

This falls in line with head coach Kyle Shanahan saying Monday that the plan was to rest McKinnon in Week 7 against New England. McKinnon saw just 12 snaps and carried the ball three times against the Patriots. JaMycal Hasty looks like he could serve as the team's lead back this week against Seattle after Jeff Wilson went down with an ankle injury and Raheem Mostert remains sidelined. Hasty's Week 8 role will hinge on the availability of Tevin Coleman (knee), who reportedly had a heavy workload in practice this week. 49ers general manager John Lynch said he's "hopeful" Coleman can suit up against the Seahawks. Hasty would be a low-end RB2 play if Coleman is out. McKinnon should see some passing down involvement and profiles as a risky flex play in deeper leagues.

As I posted in the Tev Coleman thread

My quick takes and I've had a couple of them rostered in Redraft and have one in the stable currently...

-Raheem Mostert: He is the RB1 without question and anytime he isn't on the IR he is likely to get the start and see plenty of touches or snaps, coaches love him and he seems to get results when he isn't injured.

-Tev Coleman: He has looked the worst when given more snaps and touches, at least his production does not match that of the other Backs who all seem to have success. But But But and this is key as we discuss other RBs in San Fran right now...Coleman played under Shanny with success in Atlanta and was figured to do well when he came over to San Fran. Shanny had a huge hand in his development and being signed by San Fran, it would seem Coach Kyle does not like to move on when it seems like an easy fix or solution, just get another Back, there's plenty on the roster and most seem to do well. Whenever Coleman starts to practice I would expect him to be involved in the offense and if he ever starts to look like he did in Atlanta under Shanny, this backfield will be even more crowded than it is now.

-Jerrick McKinnon: More of an emotional support dog than he is anything else right now. He is the genie in the bottle that can make wishes come true, he has to encased in bubble wrap and put out in a display case for everyone to view but not touch. He makes Fantasy Managers that roster him feel better that they have them on the roster but they can't actually use him for much. We hear he is the galloping ghost in dark corners of old seedy bars filled with sailors, but the reality is McKinnon is not worth that much now. He was quite valuable the 1st week it appeared he had a straight path to start and was the only RB standing when Moster and Coleman went down, it was his time to shine and seize the controls, how'd that work out?

JaMycal Hasty:  Don't know a lot about him but I liked what I saw this past Sunday when he was called upon. He was running with a chip on his shoulder is how I would describe it. Some call it "running hard" but I like to say running with conviction, he wasn't waiting around to absorb hits, he was plant and GO! Whatever holes are there, he's gonna find them quickly. I don't see the Niners having a great match up trying to run the football which is why I think Kittle and Aiyuk will benefit and have pretty strong days. But since so many guys are injured it would seem logical Hasty should have at least half the snaps and produce I'll say 75 yds of offense and maybe a TD. I don't think that's over projecting for 1 week with the Niners style of offense. McKinnon could possibly get similar if they give him enough touches.

Jeff WIlson: Poor guy, probably the best of the bunch. Whenever he gets a decent amount of touches in a game he has a new career day it seems. He's like the guy who fixes cars but every once in a while he gets to take the Airbender around the track a few times and you wonder why he isn't a race car driver himself.

agree with all of this and also think Hasty is a great flex start for this one week

Something does not smell right with the resting for a week and tired legs. I'm not sure what is going on but I'm not buying what Shanny is selling. I thought Jet was one of the best cheap targets pre season but something is off kilter here. "If" the joke Coleman (he sucks) is inactive I think Hasty is the play of the day. I own both Hasty and Jet but with better options I will not start either at this stage.

At best hes the 2nd best RB behind Mostert (and after this week he might be #3). But he hasn't played enough to really know. In small doses hes been great, and when we needed him he balled out. But we dont know if he can handle the load over several games. The O-line deserves a TON of credit. They've turned it around the past couple of weeks and have been lights out in run blocking.

Sticking with my Hasty call. Next week he may disappear, but this week he gets his opportunity. If the O-line keeps it up, he goes for 100+ and a TD+.

From PFF:

3 of the 5 49ers starters along the offensive line are top 10 in run-blocking at their positions.

Mike McGlinchey-- 88.7 (3rd)

Trent Williams -- 85.6 (3rd)

Laken Tomlinson -- 77.5 (7th)
