RB Joe Mixon, HOU (1 Viewer)

Joe Mixon (ankle) returned to practice Thursday.
Mixon was seen at Houston practice for the first time in almost two weeks after possibly suffering a setback to the ankle injury he picked up in Week 2. Even a couple limited practices to end the week would likely put Mixon on track to start in Week 6 against the Patriots. Cam Akers could mix in if Mixon is not 100 percent recovered from his injury.

I always hate starting a RB or WR coming off a multiple week injury
Mixon's last multiple week injury was 2 years ago. He ran for 96 yards when he returned,

I might be hesitant if he was a game time decision testing it out in warmup and feeling ok, The way he is practicing now, he may be close to 100%. They might drop his injury designation altogether after tomorrow's walkthrough. He probably won't get 30 carries, but you never know. No one expected that on opening day, but it happened. They were thoroughly unimpressed with their RBs in his absence. Don't be shocked if he gets a big workload again.

Think he’s a start this weekend vs New England. A little risk with the injury but the matchup and script seem quite ideal
IF that's a BIG IF Texans blitz as they finally did vs Bears they should be fine and hopefully score early enough then just run the ball with Pierce, Cam, and Dare. Who knows if Mixon plays perhaps he gets early TD and good enough if started in your league.

I think Texans will be fine no matter how much they blitz and I doubt Cam Akers is active.

They don't blitz which is the point and no reason to de-activate Akers. Odd take.

I get it, but each injury is somewhat unique too. depending on type and severity, it is hard to figure. obviously you would think the team wouldnt play him unless hes ready but that doesnt always happen in real life

Odd take?

Akers was not active week one and he's likely to never be active this year, if he's even on the roster, weeks the top 3 RB's are healthy.

I have no idea what you are talking about regarding blitzing. Your post was as confusing as your reply.

Preseason and prior to week 1 is irrelevant and Pierce would have been cut if he wasn't a high draft pick he sucks in Bobby Slowik's system. That's a fact not even disputable. Ryans' scheme isn't blitz oriented that's well known so not sure why you are unsure regarding blitzing.

Next Gen Stats:
The Texans defense blitzed Caleb Williams on 41.7% of his dropbacks (20 times), the unit's highest blitz rate in a game under DeMeco Ryans.

Preseason and prior to week 1 is irrelevant and Pierce
You sir have zero idea what you are talking about.

I said zero about preseason or week one.

Week one, of the actual season, the only week that Pierce was active, Cam Akers was not active.

I had no idea what you were talking about is not remotely the same thing as saying I'm unsure about the blitzing.

But speaking of people who don't know what they are talking about. The Texans are mid in blitz rate, 14th in the NFL.

You are the thickest headed person I've encountered on these boards in months.

Week 1 has nothing to do with today as I stated. Pierce should have NEVER been active over Cam. He has stunk since Bobby came aboard. This isn't even debatable or a hot take so assume you're just trolling and don't watch Texans or own Pierce. Chill kid.

Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz reports Texans RB Joe Mixon (ankle) “plans to play” in Week 6 against the Patriots.
Mixon has missed the previous three contests with an ankle injury but appears set to return for the team’s Week 6 game against the Patriots. After handling 30 carries and seeing three targets in his only full game of the season in Week 1, fantasy managers can immediately treat Mixon as an RB1 in his first game action in almost a month.

Please help!

NEWS ARTICLES > RB JOE MIXON: ACTIVE VERSUS PATRIOTS
PUBLISHED SUN OCT 13 11:37:20 A.M. ET 2024
(Rotowire) Mixon (ankle) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
Analysis: After logging back-to-back limited practices Thursday and Friday, Mixon -- who is bouncing back from what Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston previously described as a less severe high-ankle sprain -- was listed as questionable for the contest. With his return from a three-game absence confirmed, Mixon should have an opportunity to reclaim his lead role in Houston's backfield versus New England, but if he's limited at all or suffers any in-game setbacks, Dameon Pierce (who is also in the mix after missing four games), as well as Dare Ogunbowale and Cam Akers are available to contribute to the Texans' Week 6 rushing game.
