RB Joe Mixon, HOU (3 Viewers)

Now that he is out is Perine a rb 2? a flex? This Tenn team seems to be weak against wrs but strong against rb
Who are you considering over Perine?
Latavius Murray @ carolina, Pickens @ indy, or garret wilson vs chicago.... Im leaning Murray because carolina isnt very good vs the run.
If Chase ends up not playing I don't think I could sit Perine for Murray (if only from a volume perspective). I play PPR though so that might be skewing things.

Yeah Chase has been ruled out so Perine it is. They were both rated about even everywhere I looked. Matchups had me leaning the other way till the chase news. Hopefully Perine turns into an Ekler lite. Not very good rushing average but makesup for it in ppr.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said Joe Mixon is still in concussion protocol.

Taylor said that Mixon is making progress, but didn't comment on whether or not he'd be able to play this week against the Chiefs. Mixon has plenty of time to get cleared to play, but if he's unable to do so, then Samaje Perine would once again be inserted as the Bengals' lead back. Perine would remain a solid top-24 back if Mixon were to be sidelined for a second-consecutive week.

Bengals coach Zac Taylor said Joe Mixon (concussion) is expected to practice Wednesday.

Mixon missed Week 12 because of the concussion. He remains in concussion protocol, but returning to practice Wednesday could be his final hurdle. If he is a full participant to open the week, Mixon will be a safe bet to play in Week 13. He gets the Chiefs in a likely shootout and will be a strong RB1 option if active.

Joe Mixon (concussion) was limited in Thursday's practice.

He's trending towards a return, but has not fully cleared protocol yet. Back-to-back practices are a good sign for his chances of playing against the Chiefs. Mixon makes a mid-range RB1 if he is able to suit up, though Samaje Perine could take a bigger share of his workload than usual if the Bengals ease him back in.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said Joe Mixon (concussion) remains in the league's concussion protocol.

Mixon, who missed the Bengals' Week 12 game against the Titans, practiced this week and would be active for Week 13 against the Chiefs if he's able to clear the protocol on Saturday. If he can't, Samaje Perine will get another full workload in the Bengals backfield and should be treated as a PPR RB2. Perine in Week 12 had 21 touches for 93 yards.

Hmmm. I guess availability will be in question until Sunday?

Terrific.

Any word today? FBGs still has this guy ranked pretty highly and Perine way low if he’s starting…
Looking like one of those dreaded 3:25PM updates. Great when your other options play early.
I think we'll know earlier. It's not the kind of thing that is depending on a pre-game workout. I will be surprised if we don't know his status well before kickoff of the early games.

I also tend to think he's going to play but less sure on that as us knowing earlier in the day. If he does play I'll be starting him but a little worried about a reduced role. That does not always happen and in theory if you are cleared from a concussion you should be 100% but then seeing how JuJu was used last week is a recent example were team seemed to take it slow with a player coming off their brain injury.

My lean is kind of, he can't/won't play. Friday to Sunday is some magic barrier or bump? Maybe in more relaxed times but I feel like with the current emphasis in the NFL, its a little less likely

Then again, its a big matchup in a big TV window, and I dont for a minute discount the thumb on the scale of health to adjust to ratings/situation/opportunity. If he plays I feel like THAT is the reason, not that his brain got better from Friday to Sunday.

Per Roto, Sat. Dec. 3rd 10:30 pm Central:

Mixon (concussion) did not clear concussion protocol Saturday and remains questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Mixon has remained in concussion protocol for the entire week leading up to the matchup against the Chiefs and has only limited time prior to kickoff to be cleared. He remains questionable, however, and his status will become official shortly before 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday. If Mixon is out, Samaje Perine will serve as the Bengals' lead back for the second consecutive game.

So is this going to be the classic Joe Mixon move of being "day to day" for 6 weeks before ultimately being placed on IR?

I need to know early. Got a tee time and can't wait until game time. As of now I have Perine in replacing Pickens, Burks or Dillon. I need some points.

I'm probably not going to be around later either - in the one league I have him I've already put Kyren Williams in his spot.

#Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase (hip) is expected to play after being listed as questionable, source said. Meanwhile, RB Joe Mixon (concussion) has not yet cleared the NFL's concussion protocol as of now, making him a long-shot to play today.
Seems obvious now that he’s not playing
Yeah. I don't know all the ins and outs of the concussion protocol, and I haven't even heard which hurdles he's cleared and which he hasn't, but long shot seems like an understatement when he's had 2 weeks to clear everything and is now down to 2 hours (11 hours at the time of that report).

I took a shot and subbed in Perine for Sutton.... Unfortunately I didnt have a single player at 4 pm that I was willing to swap out for Perine.

I think Cincy is about to discover they don’t need Joe Mixon as much as Joe Mixon needs Cincy.
Just doing what they are asking of him
I have never been a MIxon fan and always thought he was holding back the offense in different ways but he also does a lot of the basic things to keep it humming

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said Joe Mixon has "a chance" to clear concussion protocol early in the week.

Mixon has now missed two-straight games with a concussion, but it sounds like he has a chance to play in Week 14 against the Browns. Despite missing Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Mixon was a limited participant in each of the Bengals' three practices leading up to the game. Clearly trending in the right direction, clearing protocol early this week would be a good sign that he'll be ready to go next Sunday. Assuming he's active, Mixon will be a must-start against the Browns.

I think people see this Perine guy as better than Mixon but, Perine legs are fresh and now Joe Mixon has fresher legs and will most likely retain the goal line touches, this might just be a blessing in disguise for the fantasy playoffs and Mixon will be a main beneficiary for when it counts.

That's my spin as a Mixon owner, that missed out on Perine.

I don't think many people believe Perine is better than Mixon but as someone who owns both of them in one of my most important leagues, I was happy that Mixon was out because Perine with no Mixon is better for fantasy than Mixon as the lead back with Perine taking some of the touches away.

I honestly don't know why anyone ever thought differently. That's been my criticism of Mixon relative to his reputation amongst FFers his whole career. When he misses time, his replacement is every bit as effective or ineffective as he was. It's a lateral move every time, no matter who the random guy is that they stick in there, and the Bengals' offense doesn't even notice. He was billed as this kind of supreme talent, but he's just not. He's an athletic JAG whose horrible vision/instincts cancel out his athleticism and make him no better or worse than any average RB.

That usually happens when the starter goes down. Usually such a drop off from the back-up to the next guy that the back-up gets more action than the starter does when he is out.

Funny how Perine was shipped out of Washington with the "bust" label. 6th year in the league and playing at a high level. Good for him

You’re just being mean.

Joe Mixon practiced in full on Wednesday.

Mixon was a full participant on Wednesday, a sign that he has cleared concussion protocol. He should resume his normal role in Week 14 when the Bengals take on the Browns and is a must-start in all fantasy formats. The versatile running back has rushed for 605 yards and six touchdowns this season while also catching 41 passes for 314 yards and two additional scores.

Joe Mixon (concussion) is active for Week 14 against the Browns.

Mixon returns after a three-game absence and is widely expected to resume his lead back role despite Samaje Perine's success over the past few games. Mixon is a locked-in RB1 against a terrible Cleveland front seven. Bengals declared HB Chris Evans, OT D'Ante Smith, G Jackson Carman, TE Hayden Hurst, and DE Jeff Gunter inactive against the Browns.

Joe Mixon had 11 rushes for 23 yards in the Bengals' Week 15 win against the Bucs, adding five receptions for 33 yards.

Mixon was stuffed time and again on short-yardage attempts, including near the goal line. The Bengals smartly reverted to a pass-heavy attack against Tampa and Joe Burrow was rock solid in the red zone with four short touchdown throws on the day. Samaje Perine continues to eat into Mixon's usage. On Sunday, Perine had seven carries and caught his lone target. Mixon will be something of a touchdown-dependent RB2 play in Week 16 against the Patriots.
