RB Jonathan Taylor, IND (6 Viewers)

I just took him at 6.9 in a 12 team PPR tonight. The owner after me was out of the country and auto-drafting and JT was the highest ranked player in the queue, so I had to pounce or he would have been taken next.

Here’s to watching this thread religiously now!!!

just took him at 6.8, just felt like the right time but that seems to be in area he's going.
Ya I got him in the 7th yesterday. Kind of filled out the roster and his upside is so much greater than the guys on the board. Certainly some risk and you’re already missing 4 games but in a league with few feature backs if he can come back you could have a league winner.

7.9 in a 12 team PPR league Monday night. I swore to myself I wasnt going to draft him going into the draft but I couldn’t resist when I was up and he was still on the board. Hoping for the best now

Jonathan Taylor, who now is on Physically Unable to Perform List through Week 4 due to an ankle injury, is “going to pass his physical and could pass it today,” per source. Taylor is planning to be ready to play as early as Week 5, when he is eligible to come off the PUP list.

Nothing really close... with GB or Miami. If IND wants to trade Taylor, I expect at most a 2nd round draft pick.

Christain Watson or Jaylen Waddle? Get real.

Really just a formality.

Some people with the Colts think he could have passed his physical weeks ago. Taylor was always going to pass his physical in time to get off the PUP before or week 6, which he needs to do to accrue a season.

It's a step in the right direction but still concern that without a trade the slightest ailment will have him begging out. He just needed to come of the PUP list. I've been very happy for the discount price on him but still think a trade will need to happen for this to work out for fantasy owners.

Obviously from now until he's not a Colt or the trade deadline passes every time a team has an injury to their main starting RB he'll be linked to them. But then you also have a team like GB with no apparent need that was seemingly more involved in trade talks for him, and for sure a longer duration, then any other team.

Taylor to Baltimore?
Bateman and a 2nd. Ravens are desperate.
I doubt they are desperate. They have Justice Hill and Gus Edwards before they get to the scrubs.
Not exactly Mercedes. More like a Nissan Sentra.
Ravens are not exactly desperate.
They can’t exactly be excited about losing their number one RB again. Last year they lost 1-3 on the depth chart, they may not be desperate but I would bet they are going to try to make a move versus sitting still.

One team won their game, has two guys they like, and Melvin Gordon joining from the PS.

Other team had a guy who had 13 carries for 14 yards, had their rookie RB get hurt, and the savior coming is.....Zach Moss. 🚌

Taylor is going to eat somewhere when he comes back week 5. At the very least he will be eating at home lol 😂

Not excited, no, but the move they're going to make is much more likely to be a minor one or 2 than a blockbuster deal for Taylor.

The market has spoken (yet again), and no one wants to give up a ton for a RB. The Colts are going to have to drastically lower their asking price (perhaps JT does as well) in order to make a deal.

Who is more valuable to the NFL as a running back right now, JT or CMC? I would think it is fairly close and look what CMC has done for the SF offense. I get that most RB's value is way down but the few elite RB's should still have massive NFL value IMO.

I don’t have JT anywhere near CMC.

Not remotely close.

We have 1 good season from JT. He’s far from CMC’s greatness.

Is the *potential* there? Sure. But it’s hardly a lock.

I disagree.
I'm basing my opinion on what Harbaugh said before the game Sunday.

Harbaugh addressed that on Monday ahead of the matchup with the Bengals on Sunday. "We're good, like the guys we have," said Harbaugh. "Melvin Gordon is here for a reason. He's a proven back and I'm very very glad he's here. We don't plan to look outside the organization to add depth at running back. We love our backs."

I don't buy Harbaugh as far as I can throw him. They've got a SB window, and he knows that.

Yeah and Hill and Edwards both have injury histories of their own and Gordon fumbled his way out of a starter job last year. Ravens aren’t desperate but its only week 1 and a whole lot of season left to play that will take its toll.

You can't tell me that Hill, Edwards, and Gordon are the three guys that Harbaugh truly wants to go with.

He had over 1,400 yards from scrimmage his rookie year. That’s a good year. His second year was great, not just good.

Still not in the conversation with CMC

Its debatable if Taylor is a top-5 RB honestly. He's not in CMC's league.

Just going to mention he did not attend the Colts game this weekend despite it being a home game. Jelani Woods, also on IR, was present.
Don't like it. Gotta show up to this. Smh
He checked out on the team.

I've been saying that despite that report he'd pass his physical and come off the PUP after week 4 that nothing had really changed. Well, I guess unless you think his ankle is really the reason he's on the PUP, which I never did. He just had to come of the PUP list by week 6 to accrue a season.

Right or wrong he's just looking out for himself. That's where this is at and will remain so long as he's a Colt. He will be doing the bare minimum to accrue a season. What happens if he's still on the team after week 4 I got no idea but not expecting it to be good.

I bought him at the dip in several places and I'll keep saying the only way this is going to work out positively for people with Taylor, no matter what you paid, is if he's traded.

I'm a huge JT fan and certainly consider him to be one of the best RBs in the game. However, he's coming off an injury plagued down season including offseason surgery, has yet to pass a physical, and reportedly wants a massive payday while his team reportedly wants the moon for him.

If I were another team, assuming his health checks out (still an unknown), I'd be willing to consider one or the other but certainly not both. And I'm not sure I'd match either asking price individually (would obviously depend on the details, which we still don't know).

Bottom line, this could easily remain unresolved all season.

How did the situation with JT and the Colt get so strained?

greed on JT's part. Not willing to play his contract final year and wants to avoid being franchised after that.

Gotcha! Thanks for catching me up!

Not greed, just common sense. If he wants a large contract, now's the time. If he plays out the year, he gets franchised next year and makes what, $10 million? So, after 5 years in the league, he'll have received less than $18M, and at age 27, he's not likely to get a massive contract, because the NFL doesn't pay RBs, especially 27 year old RBs, big contracts. If he plays and blows out an achilles, he doesn't even get that much.

Cole Kmet just signed a contract with $32 million guaranteed, but yeah, "greed on JT's part" is the problem here, not Irsay or the other NFL owners.

RB has almost become a plug and play and you can find a quality player in the 3rd-4th round every year. Will they be as talented as JT? Most likely not, but is the drop off worth the alternative of tying up a massive contract on the RB? That's something only a GM can truly answer. I understand the GM view on this tbh.

From JT's standpoint, he needs to understand the market he is in. Saquan and Josh Jacobs do. As a RB, there is a lot of publicity, I'd think they should start really focusing in on endorsements. Also, if he gets tagged in B2B seasons, he'll earn roughly 22-24mm over those 2 seasons. If he performs as he expects, then he can sign another 3-30 or so at 28. IDK, $50-$60mm over 5 years (before even factoring in endorsements) isn't exactly a raw deal.

It's just position specific and it is what it is for a RB. I really don't fault either side here. He wants more money, Indy wants to be at market value for the position.
