RB Jonathan Taylor, IND (3 Viewers)

How many players with JT's value has he had?
Value of what? 10-12 mill?

If they sign a good LB next summer, if they sign a decent guard, that would cancel out JT.

And if the DO get a 3rd round comp, that's for the FOLLOWING year, and it's at the end of the 3rd round.

The best possible outcome is they get a really nice 4th round pick in two years. You are cool with that for JT?

With Jacobs agreeing to a deal, I would think this improves the odds that JT plays a full season, trade or no trade.
Or not, since the JT situation devolved significantly to the point where it seems like there are irreconcilable differences between him & ownership.

That they gave him permission to seek a trade seems to cement that dysfunction.

Meanwhile he’s injured, and it seems unlikely the colts would pay him Jacobs money regardless.

This situation is murky at best.

The Colts signed kicker Matt Gay to a four-year contract worth $22.5 million. Jonathan Taylor has a four-year contract worth $7.8 million. How does this make any sense. No wonder why he wants out

Unreal as it may sound, a really good kicker in today's NFL is arguably more valuable than a really good RB. You can get by with a committee of RBs without needing a stud or an even above average one (see: the Chiefs for most of the Mahomes era), but if you have a below average kicker, you are in trouble when it comes to winning close games.

I agree mostly as long as your willing to agree that their is a difference between rolling out a Pacheco/McKinnon/Clyde committe rather then having a Taylor workhorse. Your offensive scheming options change.

Honestly don’t know why more teams don’t simply have a Mahomes. You could cheap out on so many positions !

Got him at 48th overall in a superflex, only 12 QB's off the board at that time. If he goes to Miami he is a top 10 pick, if he stays and plays with the Colts he is a top 20 pick. The only real concern is he only plays enough games to register as a season played to get the hell out of Indy. JT seems like a really quality guy, I'm willing to take the chance that it does not totally collapse.

It makes sense b/c he's still on his rookie contract as a 2nd round pick. Meanwhile, Gay signed as a UFA.

So Taylor owners let me ask you. What's your hope/desire/preference for Johnathan?

Stay with The Colts
Traded to The Dolphins
Traded to The Broncos
Something else

traded to the dolphins followed by traded to anyone. last thing i want is him to stay with the colts because he may be PuP'd, PO'd, and pretty much a bust. unless the colts give him the one year raise thing i can't see him suiting up much for Indy

Miami is in bad cap shape for 2024. There will be some painful cap hits. Wilkins for Taylor would help, or be a tradeoff. The backup DL showing vs JAX is a bad omen if Wilkins is traded. Miami needs cheap draft picks going forward and they have no 3rd or 4th in 2024. I'm curious what they offered.

Hoping I can get through my draft this afternoon without him being traded. Want him at #24.
Nah, take him at 25 so you can tell everyone "I got him in round 3!!!" :p
Got sniped 😂😂
Damn, where did he go?
20. I was surprised. Guy said he thinks he’s going to the eagles.
He's not going to the Eagles
I’ll pass it along.

Owners need to get burned by RB’s not getting paid. Play the minimum number of games to have the season count as a year of service. Never play hurt, even with a hangnail. Then go to greener pastures next year. Why would any of these guys want to bust their *** or risk their health for somebody that just wants to run them into the ground at a reduced rate?

"For the love of the game."
BS. Can’t be told it’s a business on one side of the equation and not the other. I think the RB’s need to collude. Give it back to the owners. Play the minimum games necessary. We’ll see how interchangeable the position really is when they have scrubs getting 2.3 yards a carry who can’t pass protect either.

Still makes zero sense, they just gave the 2nd highest contract in history to a FA kicker and they are a long way from being competitive. You don’t want to pay your stud RB while you build your team, sure I understand. But why are you wasting $5M a year on a kicker then?

Maybe that's why the other thread was started. Owners trying to find out who is a capable RB.....ha ha

Traded to Miami and then the Colts sign Kareem Hunt. Two birds with one stone for me.

Completely agree that the situation is murky at best, and I don't think Jacobs signing changes the odds that JT plays a full season, it's a very different situation.

However, I don't think giving him permission to seek a trade is super meaningful either- the Ravens and Chargers did the same with Lamar and Ekeler and they both ended up back. I think it's more the Colts thinking/hoping Taylor won't find his market as robust as he expects, but we'll find out soon enough how that works out.

Just picked him up last night in an auction draft. Kind of got stuck with him but was pretty cheap. Am now catching up on this situation.

There’s no way Indy screws this up. Right?!? They have to trade him.

He went for about half of what he would normally be worth in our auction yesterday. I was in on him but I couldn't risk potential missed time. Someone may have gotten a bargain though.

Best case scenario to me is a 1 year deal with a pissed off JT looking to make a statement and the Colts with no incentive to hold him back. Let him rip for 350-400 carries.

I have no idea what their cap is like, but I wouldn't mind seeing Mixon dealt to the Colts as a part of a package for Taylor.

Worth the risk.
