Sounds like the Colts value Taylor more than first let on. I'm glad this has been put to bed. Colts cap space - $24M in dead cap space, with 75% of that coming from Matt Ryan. The NFL salary cap is set at 224.8M and the Colts have an additional 7.3M in rollovers and adjustments. That means that their current salary cap space figure is around 24-25M.3 years, $42 mill, $26 mill guaranteedI missed that. What did he get? Looking back at our draft as I was the guy you remember who you called out for taking Hall and Taylor as his top 2 RB's.Maybe. Still remains to be seen how productive he is & how many TDs ARich vultures. All those who drafted in late drafts and got Taylor in the 6th - 9th rounds this is a game changer I got some shares but clearly not enough
But it’s definitely a “best case scenario” for a dude they drafted who’s floor was “miss the year”.
.but...but....but there is always DTR?Looking back at our draft as I was the guy you remember who you called out for taking Hall and Taylor as his top 2 RB's.Maybe. Well I am 2-2 and 9th in pts so not looking great. I took Kupp and or Taylor on a lot of teams some are dead some are hurting some are doing well some are doing great.
I like to take chances. So far the Hall pick is hurtful I have sat him all 4 weeks but will play him this week.
Conner was a great pick that "saved me" so far but Lamb has only had 1 good game, London has sucked and Higgins has had only 1 good game and 3 terrible ones.
Kittle has had 1 good game and I did take Moss so that saved me at RB
All that said...........team is 9th in pts and is a long uphill climb in a league with only 2 playoff spots. I would say my drafting of Taylor/Moss was a huge win and my biggest mistake was when I passed up Josh Allen to take Tee Higgins in the 3rd. That has got me as D Watson not been great.
Win some lose some
He didn't have any leverage.
What leverage did Taylor have? Sounds to me it is based purely on how they value Taylor, not from being pressured somehow to make him a good offer. He didn't have any leverage.
really
Mr. Irsay disagrees with you, and agrees with me. He told me this today, when he handed out a top contract to a player on a rookie deal.
I didn’t exactly “call you out” so much as I mentioned that one team took not one, but both of the problematic 2 RBs.Looking back at our draft as I was the guy you remember who you called out for taking Hall and Taylor as his top 2 RB's.Maybe. That was my very 1st thought. They coulda save a month of BS.I mean if the Colts were willing to do this why not do it sooner and avoid all this fiasco?
Having the WR #2 from a team in 5 leagues is not diversifying. Not that Chase has set the woods on fire either.....so far....I didn’t exactly “call you out” so much as I mentioned that one team took not one, but both of the problematic 2 RBs.Looking back at our draft as I was the guy you remember who you called out for taking Hall and Taylor as his top 2 RB's.Maybe. I am a Hall shareholder in dynasty and I’m optimistic.
And it’s not like Aaron Jones has been a stellar 3rd round RB for me in that league, though being. 1st overall & 2nd in points helps. That’s more to picks of CMC & Nico Collins though.
I think your team is going to get better and better as the year goes on.
Higgins is killing me across 5 leagues this year, but I don’t blame you for taking him over Allen. In 3RR you’re picking at 25th overall. Feels early for a QB to me. But yeah - hindsight it always 20-20.
I guess one could argue that the Colts didn’t have a replacement level player, but IMO they weren’t expecting to be competitive with Year 1 ARich, yet here they are. What leverage did Taylor have? Sounds to me it is based purely on how they value Taylor, not from being pressured somehow to make him a good offer. He didn't have any leverage.

3 are dynasty.Having the WR #2 from a team in 5 leagues is not diversifying. Not that Chase has set the woods on fire either.....so far....
Now that I can agree with. Some here try to make it like Taylor had them over a barrel, which is ridiculous. I would like to know what the change of heart was however. Maybe they were concerned about his injury previously? That was my very 1st thought. They coulda save a month of BS.I mean if the Colts were willing to do this why not do it sooner and avoid all this fiasco?
....and some worry too much about ADP.3 are dynasty.Having the WR #2 from a team in 5 leagues is not diversifying. Not that Chase has set the woods on fire either.....so far....
1 is an NFFC where he fell to the end of the 3rd.
One is a local redraft.
I typically like to diversify. Just happens I’ve got Tee everywhere this year. Sometimes “letting the draft come to you” means not passing up value when it drops, even if heavily invested.![]()
I typically don’t. But where I took Higgins in the 2 redrafts was definitely a value play, and a matter of build. He was the best WR on the board.....and some worry too much about ADP.
I think being competitive is what made the deal happen. No sense stumbling your way to 8-9 (which I assume most Colts fans would have been happy with back in August) when the division title is there for the taking.I guess one could argue that the Colts didn’t have a replacement level player, but IMO they weren’t expecting to be competitive with Year 1 ARich, yet here they are. What leverage did Taylor have? Bingo. I'm sure their evaluation of ARich has changed a lot of their thinking.I guess one could argue that the Colts didn’t have a replacement level player, but IMO they weren’t expecting to be competitive with Year 1 ARich, yet here they are.
He signs this deal, and you are asking what his leverage was, are you kidding? What leverage did Taylor have? Sounds to me it is based purely on how they value Taylor, not from being pressured somehow to make him a good offer.
It's really surprising to me because they never offered him any kind of contract extension previously. It's not like they negotiated and were off, they never offered him anything. Now that I can agree with. Some here try to make it like Taylor had them over a barrel, which is ridiculous. I would like to know what the change of heart was however. Maybe they were concerned about his injury previously? That was my very 1st thought. Egos get hurt and rational thinking people hold grudges. Takes time for cooler heads to prevail and get back to business.Wow, I never though this was going to be the outcome. I'll take the L for thinking both sides wanted a trade and it would not work out if he remained with the Colts. I thought they might give him a little bump like Barkley/Jacobs to make good on this year but never saw this coming.
I mean if the Colts were willing to do this why not do it sooner and avoid all this fiasco?
Either way I'm glad to be wrong as I bought him heavily at the dip and all I ever wanted was him buying in and ready to play.
Hell yeah.Sources to ESPN: Jonathan Taylor and the Colts reached agreement on a three-year, $42 million contract extension, including $26.5M guaranteed, that makes him one of the league’s highest-paid RBs and clears him to make his season debut Sunday vs. Titans.
I think they just wised up.
One other possible thing which could have impacted this is when the Colts allowed him to seek a trade it was mentioned that few teams were willing to meet his contract demands. Which may not be what the Colts had in mind, maybe they were hoping he's face a cold market. Taylor knowing that made him even saltier returning to the Colts without an extension and the Colts at that point had let other teams negotiate the deal for them.
100%I think Richardson looking like he could be a franchise QB, probably helped Taylor's case. Colts could absolutely win the AFC South this season.
Also think this deal doesn't happen if Taylor is out of shape at all. Zach Moss is nothing more than a handcuff now.
The amount of speculation in here was (still is) off the charts. It could have been any number of reasons for the "change of heart", including maybe even this being about what the Colts would have been willing to do previously and he was the one with the change of heart. Probably not, but we really have no idea and likely never will. Now that I can agree with. Some here try to make it like Taylor had them over a barrel, which is ridiculous. I would like to know what the change of heart was however. Maybe they were concerned about his injury previously? That was my very 1st thought. Playing silly games, like signing him to an extension. We have no idea what kind of shape he's in, and there's a huge difference between being in regular shape vs. being in football shape. It’s not like he’s been sitting on a beach…he doesn’t have a real injury. He did 2 practices….the guy is a pro..he’s not staying out because he’s a bit sore after 2 practices. How is waiting to see how his body feels after his 2nd practice in over 9 months playing games?the games are so silly. Why wouldn’t they activate him? Get him out there…you won…didn’t need to pay him or trade him. Now let him help you win games.
How many touches he’ll get depends on how he looks. They don’t give a shot about him…they aren’t gonna have him in a pitch count. They’re gonna use him…and why wouldn’t you?
So the Colts are just playing silly games, that's what you're sticking with?
I also think that has a lot to do with it.I think Richardson looking like he could be a franchise QB, probably helped Taylor's case. Colts could absolutely win the AFC South this season.
Also think this deal doesn't happen if Taylor is out of shape at all. Zach Moss is nothing more than a handcuff now.

Echoes my prior post - agree.I think Richardson looking like he could be a franchise QB, probably helped Taylor's case. Colts could absolutely win the AFC South this season.
Yeah - that likely had something to do with it as well. Moss didn’t show out, and neither did Deon. And Hull is hurt. Also think this deal doesn't happen if Taylor is out of shape at all. Zach Moss is nothing more than a handcuff now.
I didn't mean it like that as you called me out I just meant you were saying "This guy in my draft did this" which was fine.I didn’t exactly “call you out” so much as I mentioned that one team took not one, but both of the problematic 2 RBs.Looking back at our draft as I was the guy you remember who you called out for taking Hall and Taylor as his top 2 RB's.Maybe. All I can say is Stephen Holder reported multiple times that the Colts never made him a contract offer this entire off-season which would mean there was never any negotiation. That was my very 1st thought. They coulda save a month of BS.I mean if the Colts were willing to do this why not do it sooner and avoid all this fiasco?
Maybe something changed in the negotiation and it’s something we don’t know about it.
I do think they thought they wouldn’t be as competitive as they are.All I can say is Stephen Holder reported multiple times that the Colts never made him a contract offer this entire off-season which would mean there was never any negotiation. That was my very 1st thought. I have 4. lolThis is why I have 69 teams so when 1 dies you move on.
This. Ha haNone of us are employees of the Colts so we really don't know. My take on just looking at the circumstances is he stays. I don't think they have any intentiion of moving him and really never did. The #1 priority of that team, outside obviously winning games, is creating an environment for its rookie franchise QB to be successful. You create chaos for that rookie QB and it goes the path of Joey Harrington. Moving Taylor doesn't help cultivate that good environment. Keeping a play maker as dynamic as Taylor does cultivate it. Imo
Uh. No. I'd assume it would increase if he comes out hits 100 yards first game out. Not saying he will, but this is far from his peak value. Barring injury.Very curious to see how he runs, if you're holding him, his peak value might be today.
Isn’t that the truthWhat we need in here is less talk about Jonathan Taylor and more discussion of particular posters individual teams and their drafts
Oh my bad this isn't a fantasy football forum or nothing and how my drafting of Taylor has or has not helped/hurt my team.....................What we need in here is less talk about Jonathan Taylor and more discussion of particular posters individual teams and their drafts
Unless there was serious monkeying with his medicals, he was put on the IR indicating some kind of Ankle issue. This has been an 18 month situation. He may be vintage JT but I could certainly see a case where he's not what he was or takes time getting thereUh. No. I'd assume it would increase if he comes out hits 100 yards first game out.
