RB Josh Jacobs, GB (4 Viewers)

4 of my 5 fantasy teams have Jacobs now. In all honesty it looks to me that nobody really wants to draft him. i took him just because he was best available by far.

It's an interesting situation

Double invested. Took him at 2.9 in a 1/2 PPR (after Kyren and Ettiene, before James Cook and Rachaad White. Start 2 RB's, 3 WR's, 1 flex ) and 3.7 in a full PPR (2, 2 and 2.....This time Cook and White went just ahead of me....Kamara and Mixon were the next 2 backs off the board)

I'm a fan of the talent and think he'll be really good. The Dillon injury made me feel better about him. (not that Dillon is a world beater, but I think they're less likely to go full blown committee with him out of the picture)

His ADP has gone up a lot
Last 3-4 days from data compiled on a few sites, looks like Jacobs is now going off the board about RB8 ahead of Achane, Kyren Williams and Pacheco
Just FYI...

he is underrated for sure.
I'm grabbing him where I can as well. its not easy. there seem to be an awful lot of good backs going later in the draft now. He is just one of many in the same situation.

Proud owner of him at 2.10 last night. Thought for sure I'd get sniped after D. Henry went.

Now on to business: Wasn't the PHI rush D nails last season?

Paid $25 for him (out of $200 budget) as my RB2 in my SuperFlex auction league last night. 🤞
That's insane
Got him for $31 in my super competitive league of 10+ years. He isn't the new shiny toy, and he is coming off a bad year where he was inefficient, and a little sluggish probably from "holding out" for the first part of the year. He is still being undervalued. This is why I love drafting guys that go to new teams with better situations in their first year

For example...

AJ Brown 2022
DJ Moore 2023
Josh Jacobs 2024 ??

Weird game. Bad field. Different country. Eagles defensive line is pretty good. End of game numbers turned out okay. Love injury is a concern.

Well I posted in the Henry thread that I would be concerned if I owned him anywhere. I don't.

But I do own a lot of Jacobs and I am equally concerned about him. Did not look good and losing Love isn't going to help.

Indeed. It was almost comical how many guys were slipping on the field. Weather stations reported no rain, so the slippage must've been from a sloppy conversion of a historically manicured soccer pitch to a temporary football field.

He looked sluggish. Not explosive at all.

PHI D line certainly had something to do with it early.

Maybe it was the field.

GB should rush to sign Tannehill.

Own both and not concerned at all with Jacobs. I am with Henry but it’s more of what I view as him having lower upside then being horrible.

Jacob’s was stuffed on 37% of his carries. That’s a stood DL for Philly, things will get easier.

Love may “only” have a mid/high ankle sprain and miss a game.

He only had 6 carries the first half with several being short down/distance against a stacked box. Still finished with 5.2 yds/carry. He's not going to face a tough Philly front every week.

The biggest issue for Jacobs last night imo was the Packers OL having early difficulty with that massive Eagles front. The field issues are overstated. In the end the Packers put up good rushing numbers and I don’t think anything that happened last night should change anyone’s opinion on this player for fantasy football purposes. I never expected MLF to have a “bell cow” RB and that’s still the case.

73% of RB opps seems pretty high, anyway. Maybe not quite "bellcow", but not many get better than 73% anymore.

Every carry by Josh Jacobs last night in 144 seconds. Overall he looked pretty good, showed burst, and had a few big plays. The only critique would be a few questionable reads early. The status of Jordan Love is going to be the bigger story for his future this year.

...oh and the fumble. Fumble is worth critiquing. 😁

Except one backup RB was out and the other one was not fully healthy. Hard to draw conclusions from that game IMO.

This is true.

Josh Jacobs had 2 rushes for 10+ yards on 16 attempts last night. (12.5%)

He had 9 rushes of 10+ yards on 233 attempts last season. (3.9%)
not nearly the same number of stacked boxes when running the ball.

with poor QB play teams were stacking the box and forcing them to throw it. (or at least trying)

if I were a DC I would have double covered Devante and stacked the box. See if that backup QB can make it to the 2nd or third read in the offense. You cant play that kind of game against the Packers. Love is too good a QB. while hes not an all star, hes a whole lot better than what vegas ran at QB last season.

Anyone know how far along M. Loyd is with his injury?

May grab Jacobs insurance before kickoff, but not sure if it's E. Wilson or Loyd.

is it me, or is it a case where nearly every player that holds out and missed camp either gets hurt or just has an overall crappy year. I suspect the x factor is missing camp and not being fully ready to start the season. but it could also be they got paid and let the foot off the gas. not sure which, but all I know is when a player holds out I'm now avoiding them like the plague at the draft table. been burned too many times this way.

It was painful watching Jacobs lose out on two touchdowns: The first one because of a flag; the other because he fumbled the ball within inches of the end zone. Otherwise, he had a great game thanks to Willis' hesitation to throw the ball.

26 years old. 235 yards rushing in 2 games and a 5ypc so far. Offense will be better when Love is back.

Confirmed still good. Carry on.

Sometimes the answer is just "yes" - If the RB is good and has done it before and then goes to a better offence they will have a chance to show they still have it.

I definitely think it's more of not being in shape. Jonathan Taylor is a good example with his hold out last year. By the end of the year he was back to his normal self, but took him a few weeks to get going

I can confess that I actually took him in the 2nd round of my draft, as RB8 overall.

My plan was to go WR in the mid first and then take whoever fell out of Barkley, Taylor, and Jacobs in the mid 2nd.

Jacobs was the only one of those three left on the board, so I pulled the trigger about 1-2 rounds above ADP. Just had a much higher trust level with him than with Gibbs, Achane, Kyren, Pacheco, Henry, Etienne. While I wouldn't say reaching is generally something to be proud of, the goal is ultimately to draft a team that produces, not the team that looks best on paper in August.

Week 2 is way too early to gloat, but so far so good. Josh Jacobs is who we thought he was!

All the same, I plan to grab Lloyd because he's a talented enough handcuff that I would want to have him in the event of injury.
