Herbert is not a hold, he's a must start. Minny ranks 26th in run defense, and chi can run on anyone/everyone. As a team they're likely to be WELL over 100 yards rushing on the day. Herbert is in the must start category.

He’s coming back from injury and who knows how many touches he’ll get. still worth the risk to play Herbert (unless you have much better options of coruse).you know monty is playing right?Herbert is not a hold, he's a must start. That's my exact situation -- I've got Najee, JKD, Conner & Herbert -- I'm starting JKD & Herbert.Khalil or Najee? PPR.
Najee hasn’t looked good and they’re a 2 TD dog in Buffalo.
Ugh, whatever I do will be wrong. That's my exact situation -- I've got Najee, JKD, Conner & Herbert -- I'm starting JKD & Herbert.Khalil or Najee? PPR.

My rationale is simply that PITT/AZ are dogs and can easily give up on the run. CHI & BAL are going to run no matter what....

I just swapped Najee in, here comes 130/2 for Herbert today.
Patience is a virtue. Next year, Monty will be gone, the offense should be better, and Herbert should be the lead back, even if they bring in 3rd round competition. Dude is a quality back. Not good for him today- always backseat to Monty
Old Monty is producing and the Bears may as well beat him up rather than risk Herbert getting injured. They know what he can do.Where all the fanboys at? Where'd all the HYPE go??
Yes. 62 yards or something like that.I didn't watch the game, did Khalil bust a long run?

I actually think Hebert has more value if Siemien is the qb. Montgomery is needed for his blocking for Fields.Khali Herbert is a hold and bench spot this week for one of my teams because Monty is likely playing however limited he may be. It's a hold because I think Herbert is the better back regardless. Just gotta watch and see how this plays out. I guess it depends upon the choices of other RB's. Herbert with Monty is like a RB #3 with Flex appeal for many rosters I imagine. Herbert by himself makes him an obvious start. Of my RB's I would rank them with Monty playing: Chubb, J Robinson, Pierce, AJ Dillon / Herbert, and Swift (out). I'm really hoping for a good game from Herbert and opportunities to continue to showcase his talents. HOLD for now.
Now that makes sense. RB wise Herbert has looked >>>Montgomery side by side all year. Fields is a wreck and is holding that offense backI actually think Hebert has more value if Siemien is the qb. caught a little of the game and saw the run; it was sweet; great moves and vision juking back across the field. They kept feeding him on that drive up to the 4th and 1 where he got stuffed. I drafted him but dropped this week for Eno. Sure hope that was the right move --we'll see.Herbert had 7 for 75 tonight while Montgomery had 15 for 67 (and 1 rec for 13).
What happened? I didn't watch the game, did Khalil bust a long run? Almost the same in fantasy points, and neither really startable.

agree in theory but when you have injuries, bye weeks, you sometimes have to do things you don't want to do....You should never drop this guy in a 12-teamer. Way more valuable than the garbage on waivers, but YMMV
So you accept that Herbert is the better back but volume alone puts Monty as the clear winner at RB? I’m n the same boat. Dropped him for Alec pierce as his star seems to be rising. Love Herbert though and think he’s better than Monty but it’s clear that when Monty is healthy he’s getting the workload.

@PFF_NateJahnke Khalil Herbert has a better first down rate, explosive run rate, avoided tackle rate, yards per carry rate, yards after contact per carry rate and yards before contact per carry rate compared to David Montgomery both this season, as well as the last two seasons combined |

He's really not. Montgomery is disgustingly underrated. For what he's been able to do on such a garbage offense, terrible line is impressive. If you watch Bears games regularly the guy is almost always making multiple positive plays every game. That's extremely rare on this team. He runs hard. Fights for every yard he gets. He's a top end receiver for his position. Great teammate. I don't like how little respect he gets but I get it if you don't follow this team closely.Hebert is better than Montgomery
That's a fair point. If only we could compare stats of them playing for the same garbage offense? He's really not. Montgomery is disgustingly underrated. This is true but I guess the unmeasurable is how much Monty inspires the team. If he is the soul of the team the drop off from Herbert to Monty probably isn't as big of a deal. It's heart warming to hear the love so many fans have for Monty
-Herbert has had 7-9 carries or less 4 out of the 6 games
-Herbert is 20th overall at RB, Monty 38th in my leagues.
-17-15-Injured-OUT-12-15...those are total number of carries in the 4 games he has taken the field as the starter.
-Monty has 13 targets, Herbert just 5 but he caught ALL 5for 37 yds, maybe they should get him more involved there since the WRs are nothing to write home about.
Herbert seems better from most metrics but I understand why Bears Fans might feel differently. Herbert just needs touches and an expanded role in the passing game, both of these RBs should be on the field same time.
Too stubby for the stool? It's not what I personally wish for, then again I also didn't wish for a 12" pianist.
He is a better runner, it’s the passing game that Herbert needs a lot of work in. Part of that is on Fields also, he holds the ball too long and takes too many sacks.People need to stop saying Herbert is better than Montgomery.
There is more to the job than running the ball.

Yup, let's never watch anyone play and just go off numbers, taking nothing else into account. That's a fair point. Is this true? I thought Monty was the team leader out there. I guess that can't make up for how much he is being outperformed.Bears saying that they will now go with the hot hand at RB puts Montgomery on notice that his role as starter is in jeopardy. Serves as a way to transition to Herbert if he outperforms Montgomery going forward. Open competition, though Montgomery will very likely have the advantage of establishing the "hot hand" first. May take 4-5 games to determine who the alpha is.
It might take 4-5 minutes. Dropped him in my redraft and no one picked him up
Possible but how often do we really see trades like this? I know CMC just went. Besides that how many starting RBs do we see get traded mid-year?I think Monty goes on the trading block before the deadline. No proof, just a hunch. Herbert is clearly the better runner averaging 6.4 yards per carry to Monty's 4.0.
