RB Kyle Monangai, CHI (2 Viewers)

Are we really putting a lot of stock into the game against the Bengals? I don't believe it changes anything if Swift is 100%. Forget the blocking stuff (which is important), but Swift is way more dynamic and a much better receiver. The way Monangai has to gain yardage is a tough road to hoe in the NFL.

That said, I can see Monangai earning a decent split even if Swift is healthy...more if they're still concerned about the groin injury.
He gained almost 200 total yards in his first career start. Yes, he’s legit.
I can buy he's a legit NFL player, but we need to compare him to Swift. What would Swift have done against the Bengals with the same touches?

Look at the top RBs in the league. Most all of them have dynamic traits. I'm not saying Monangai is a scrub, but he's best used as a role player.

I’m a Monangai fan, a friend clued me in preseason, saw him play (on TV) vs the Saints, I thought he looked the part. But for comparison sake the Jets RBs went 25/198/2 & 8/67/0 receiving the week before vs CIN. Bears went 31/207/1 & 3/22/0. No I didn’t see the CHI-CIN game but I watched all of Monengai vs NO. I also don’t think I’ve seen a discussion on Brittain Brown’s gallop to the posts, obviously there were some breakdowns.

Who do you see as Gibbs?

Swift has been and remains Homeless Gibbs. Just a Gai is young MontyJam.

Importantly, Ben Johnson pie could be fairly large if Caleb can keep his **** together.
I would bet against that last part. The bears schedule gets really tough RoS and Caleb won’t be playing against Cincy every week.

We need the Tyson Bagent era to begin sooner than later, for the sake of all Bears fantasy pieces.
LOL That's some serious wish casting.
It is, yes. As a holder of a couple of Bears.

But it won’t surprise me at all if Caleb gets benched at some point this season for his league worst inaccuracy and bonehead decisions. Ben Johnson wants to win games, and might do what needs to be done if it comes down to it.
:fishy:

Jumping out of the boat now. Cheers.

Where’s Jonas gray nowadays

Idk, but did he look like the rebirth of “Kareem Hunt” in his first start?

One of the first plays of the game was a quick swing / slant pass to him out in the open which would probably gone for at least 10 yards....maybe 15 to 20. Bricked right off his hands.

With a healthy swift, was km used like Montgomery today. Wondering if it’s time to buy
Swift started.

Snap %: Swift 62% - Monangai 38%
Opportunities: Swift 21 - Monangai 8

Swift was definitely the hot hand this week (13-80 + 5-18 receiving)
Between Swift’s usage yesterday and the stiffening rushing defense schedule, I’m not feeling as bullish about Monangai as I was a week ago. Things can change in an instant in this league, but I’m sensing an Allgeier type career instead of a David Montgomery.

He’s a bench stash injury handcuff now, until something happens to Swift. Probably going to cut him in redraft during waivers for a better lottery ticket, like a Phil Mafah.

You got all that from just one game when the coach said he was going to ride the “hot hand” and Swift had it going?

Was in a tough spot again and had to start him after relying on Emmanuel Wilson last week. My revolving door of RB2 keeps posting big weeks.

He had a 17/121/1 line going in to the last drive (7.1 ypc). His dynasty stock keeps rising!
One thing he needs in his game to be a very valuable dynasty asset is use in the passing game. Otherwise he will be too game script dependent.

Very true. He's probably capped as a low-mid RB2. Not a lot of targets going to RBs in Ben Johnson's offense. Also, being a rookie doesn't come with a lot of trust on 3rd down.

What’s the odds of him becoming a 3-Down back with an entire off season of pass pro and route running out of the gun? .. How many backs ever truly learn that? .. Jordan Mason for example. I hope he does though because the kid is a stud. Reminds me so much of a young Kareem Hunt.

He’s the Jamaal Williams of the Bears. I am not sure he is capable of more than that but it’s still a good role if the offense is productive.

Unfortunately he's unstartable in PPR and has tough schedule ahead. Ben Johnson is a blessing for RBs.
You’re def right on the ppr deficiencies, but since the bye he has 5 TDs in 8 games (w/ two 130+ yd games). In larger leagues, you’ve gotten a pretty good return on a TD-dependent handcuff. If you gotta throw a RB2 dart on any given week, Monangai has been pretty true

I think he’s more the David Montgomery - I’m thrilled to have acquired a share relatively affordably. Swift goes down, Monongai is a RB1 for FF.

Yesterday he had 130/1 while sharing carries against a very solid PHI defense.

I believe.

More than Montgomery 2025 who seems to have a step but I definitely don’t think Monangai is near prime Monty.

We haven’t seen prime Monty since he was in CHI. In 2020.

I think he’s Monty circa 2021-2023. He doesn’t have Monty’s wiggle (he was surprisingly agile for a bigger back) but he has plenty of power. He’s also a very decisive runner & plays well through contact.

I think the Bears got a bargain in the 7th, and FF community got a viable RB2, who’s maybe a little boom or bust week to week. His TD upside keeps him relevant though - similar to 2025 Monty.

I think Montgomery was fantastic the last 2 years in Detroit and still in his prime. Yes the Bears got a good player in the 7th but I don’t think he’s special or will ever be a true lead back for a team.

Sure passed the eye test yesterday.

Sure did and Swift looked elite. Something was just going on with Bears-Eagles LOS matchup. We saw Monangai not look quite so good against other teams this year.

Unfortunately he's unstartable in PPR and has tough schedule ahead. Ben Johnson is a blessing for RBs.
You probably thought he was unstartable vs. Philly too?
Don't be that guy...
IMO it wasn't a bad point to make.

The way Johnson is using his RBs and the way the OL is playing, he's a decent spec play any given week.
And now getting into cold December with the team playing well, probably should see a lot of Monangai down the stretch.

Beyond that, it's clear that Swift is a much better player when he's part of a time share backfield. 55-45 or so.

They both may be startable going forward.
