RB Kyle Monangai, CHI (4 Viewers)

Ben Devine
Ben Johnson just LOVES his rookie RB:
“Kyle Monongai, I mean, Holy cow! For a rookie, you would have no idea. Not only is he a hard runner, willing to lower his shoulder, tough to bring down; but like this guy can do it all. He can catch the ball out of the backfield, excellent in pass protection - got a trust level with him that’s above and beyond.”😳#DaBears
Nice in particular that Johnson thinks he can catch the ball, as they don’t use him much in that role with Swift there. Maybe that will start being another element of his game next year, which would obviously help his fantasy stock.
Considering it's Ben Johnson, I now wouldn't be surprised if he got 10 targets this week.

Dude will find and exploit any perceived weakness in the defense.

there is a lot to like so far. The early returns look promising
The only thing there is not to like about it is Swift’s contract/continued presence. But it feels a lot like Gibbs/Monty - with Monangai getting short yardage worlk and Swift being vastly inferior to Gibbs.
Agreed - with the years that both Swift and Monangai are having, can’t imagine why they wouldn’t want to run it back again next year.

As much as we want a piece of Ben Johnson’s offense, until things get more consolidated at the RB position - and the WR/TE positions for that matter - it’s going to cap everyone’s fantasy upside.

Agree. That said, folks who’ve had Monty/Gibbs for the last few years certainly haven’t been complaining.

Is it? Between 2022-2024 Jamaal Williams, Swift, ARSB, LaPorta, Gibbs, Monty & Jamo all might disagree.

If Johnson and Caleb truly get on the same page, something Jared Goff thinks is possible, this offense could easily sustain 3-5 elite offensive players.

That’s fair although I don’t think the Bears current skill players are as good as those Lions (ex Jamaal who had an out of nowhere incredible year). At least as of now - maybe we’ll be saying something different a year from now.

Jamaal for sure but, are we calling Monty, LaPorta & Jamo special (my word not yours) enough that the Bears equivalents can't be compared to them?

A RB2, a WR2 (some would say not even that, I would say he could be elite but, I'm in the minority) and a TE1 kinda by default because of a dearth of talent/utilization at the position.

What about Goff? McVay, the QB whisperer, gave up on him.

IMO whether or not guys like Monangai, Swift, DJ, Odunze & Loveland can all be viable #1/#2 options depends on 1) Johnson's ability to unlock Caleb (feels possible IMO) and 2) keeping the OL strong
