Sean McVay said today that Kyren Williams and Ronnie Rivers, RBs No. 1 and 2 for the Rams, are "going to be out for a little bit". Says he is not certain how long, but may have more clarity by Wednesday. "Initial prognosis, it looks like it's gonna be challenging for those guys in the immediate future."

The other guy’s team is going to be 5-1 after this weekend, and has Walker/Charbonnet, Achane on IR and his next best rb would be Warren. He’s in win now mode and thinks Williams can get him deep in the playoffs. He offered a second 2 weeks ago, and I declined, planning to come back to him after William’s next good week. He could conceivably lose early in the playoffs and I could get a 4-7 pick..who knows. My team is solid, but got off to a bad start. I’m 2-4, but have Bijan, Swift, Javonte/Perine, Gus Edwards, so I can still compete. Now I’ve got an extra first rounder thanks to a guy I drafted in the 5th round last year and was thinking of dropping before the season started to make room for this years rookies.

pretty much every new signing goes on the PS at this time of year. There's no down side to it for the team - they can activate him any time they want. And if he's not ready, they can leave him there or even cut him if he's simply lost it.

To be fair, he sent me the offer early Monday morning, before anyone knew Williams would miss this weeks game. I don’t think he, or I even knew there was an ankle issue at all. That came out mid-afternoon, long after I accepted. Also, when he initially reached out, I told him that was a fair offer and I’d consider it unless someone else gave me more. He then formally sent the offer and I smash accepted, as I was looking for a 1st all along and wasn’t expecting to get it.

I always hate it when a player I traded away to someone gets injured soon after as some owners might hold a grudge against me for that which clouds their reasoning in future potential trades. Shouldn't be an issue for you here as he made the offer and neither of you knew about this at the time. We still dont know how long WIlliams will be out right now either. Just something I have worried about when this has happened in the past. I don't want to be labeled as a guy who sells damaged goods.

Its possible Kyren is more hurt than they are letting on, but I think the most logical conclusion is that Evans sucks, or at least has given them the impression in practice that he's not ready to be relied upon at all.

I think people spending FAAB on Evans are throwing probably money away.

I wouldnt bother with Freeman. Hes really not good. He is being listed at about 240 lbs now. Thats more of a FB than a RB and he seems like a special teams player only.

If you have a spot open and nothing else to grab I would take a chance with Henderson or Gaskin over Freeman fron this backfield. Henderson seems more likely fit if Evans cant get it done.

On the other hand if the Rams are just going to throw the ball now and they cant trust Evans to protect Stafford (which is what it looks like) maybe they do use Freeman for that? But is that what you want?

Agreed.

Bear in mind that I think the Rams had to sign Gaskin to the active roster in order to take him from the Vikings practice squad is how I think that works. So its not neccessarily an indication of the pecking order.

Any of these guys could do well or maybe none of them do, I just think Freeman is the least likely of them all to do well.

Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams is expected to miss multiple games but should be back, at the latest, after their Week 10 bye, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Wednesday.

Williams suffered an ankle sprain in Sunday's 26-9 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, a game in which he rushed for a career-high 158 yards and a touchdown. A source had previously told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Williams was expected to miss at least Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Running back Ronnie Rivers also was injured in Sunday's game, sustaining a knee injury.

On Monday, coach Sean McVay didn't give a specific timeline for their return, saying only that "the initial prognosis looks like it's going to be challenging for those guys in the immediate future."

As a result of the injuries, the Rams elevated Royce Freeman to the active roster and signed Darrell Henderson, who was waived by the team last season, to the practice squad. In addition, the Rams signed running back Myles Gaskin off the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad and added him to their active roster, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday.

McVay on Monday said the Rams are still "working through" the plan without Williams and Rivers but noted that rookie running back Zach Evans got the first carries after the injuries Sunday.

I don't think they can release Gaskin. When you sign somebody from another team's practice squad you have to keep them for something like 3 or 4 games. It's not the same as signing a guy from your own practice roster

Not sure of Evans ability but thinking whoever they turn to must be able to know protections & pass block pretty well as their not going to want Stafford getting busted up again...

Somebody beat me to Z. Evans. Contemplating R. Freeman.

I wouldnt bother with Freeman. Hes really not good. He is being listed at about 240 lbs now. Thats more of a FB than a RB and he seems like a special teams player only.

If you have a spot open and nothing else to grab I would take a chance with Henderson or Gaskin over Freeman fron this backfield. Henderson seems more likely fit if Evans cant get it done.

On the other hand if the Rams are just going to throw the ball now and they cant trust Evans to protect Stafford (which is what it looks like) maybe they do use Freeman for that? But is that what you want?

Henderson and Gaskin have at least produced at the NFL level before although they have been cast aside.

If I had to be on who the Rams leading RB is in Williams absence, I'd bet on Henderson. He was the starter at this time last year. He knows the offense, he can pass block, and he can catch.

I have this rotten feeling that come around 3:45 EST Sunday, there will be some tweet saying "D. Henderson to get a lot of run today."

And the roster scrambling commences.

We should know by Saturday. Henderson signed to the practice squad. Freeman and Gaskin signed to active roster. If they like Henderson they would active him Saturday and release Freeman or Gaskin

I don't think they can release Gaskin. When you sign somebody from another team's practice squad you have to keep them for something like 3 or 4 games. It's not the same as signing a guy from your own practice roster

The only point I was trying to make here is that to sign Gaskin they had to make him active, whereas with Henderson they had more flexibility to sign him to their practice squad and still activate him at any time if they want to.

Gaskin has been productive in the NFL before and maybe he gets a chance to show what he can do again here.

Its kind of funny how the Rams and Vikings are swapping RBs in a way here as the Rams traded Akers to the Vikings and how the Rams pick up Gaskin.

It makes sense though as I think both teams are running similar offenses.

i assume they add henderson to active roster before sunday since he knows the playbook. Im not gonna lie it does not feel like Evans will handle the lead work.

My gut says hopes that Evans is the next man up, and the other signings are in case he catches a case of fumblitis. That is, he's there until he loses the job.

Faust posted something from pff showing Evans had a bad pass protection grade from their charting FWIW.

In reading a few prospect articles about Evans I saw fumbling as a negative come up more than pass protection, but sometimes thats not something evaluators focus on much compared to other things RB do.

With all the talk of Henderson in here, I just picked him up. It's a 12-team redraft with 16 spots, so I will probably never use him, but maybe I can flip him.

fumbling was the big issue with him. and given Staffords Health I dont think they want him doing a whole lot of Pass Pro unless he has cleaned that up.

but he and Henderson are the only credible option that knows the playbook. I could see Gaskin being a serviceable option for a week or two if Kyren Williams is missing more than a couple of weeks. but Gaskin wont be able to go in for more than a handful of plays as he does not know Enough of the playbook. Maybe they use him on passing downs to start to take some pressure off the kid. I admit I dont base this on anything other than personal opinion. But Gaskin has at least been a starter in the past. That counts for something

I agree Gaskin has the right skillset. but for this week at least, we are likely looking at Evans. I could see Gaskin getting in on some situational stuff.
If Evans struggles in pass pro, I could see Gaskin learning the no huddle/3rd down/ passing situations part of the offense first so they can take this part of the game away from Evans. in theory, that could even happen this week if Gaskin is a quick study. Though I do think thats asking a lot of a guy who just joined the team less than a week prior to game day.
