RB MarShawn Lloyd, GB (2 Viewers)

Marshawn Lloyd gives me Christine Michael vibes.
… and it was Mario Fannin before him.

It’s dynasty. Sometimes you’ve gotta hang on just a little too long for a payoff. You’ll know when it’s time to move on.

The time is not yet, for Llyod imo (to
Move on or disregard)

Look at what Kendre Miller has been doing recently as an example why you shouldn't write off someone prematurely. Miller had some bad injury luck the previous two seasons and so far he looks good enough to siphon off touches from Alvin Kamara. It's still early in the season but it's trending that way. We don't have enough data on MarShawn Lloyd to know whether or not he's going to pan out, he's just been unable to stay on the field but it's been barely over a season so far. Still think the explosion is there if he can stay healthy long enough to showcase it. For now, consider him firmly behind Emanuel Wilson for that backup role, as Wilson has played well enough to hold that spot. Lloyd's best chance for seeing the field is in garbage time and/or injuries ahead of him on the depth chart. A dynasty stash only, not on the redraft radar at all currently.

Yeah, exactly. Much ado about nothing. Not playing because of injuries is not the same as being available and looking bad/useless.

He was never going to play much in the short-term anyway with Jacobs on the roster. Lloyd has been a long-term play since the moment he was picked.

Loyd is one of the RB unicorns, mythical creatures that have all this talent but never get showcased. Like Kendre and Keaton Mitchell in BAL. Seems like those guys could be starters on teams.

Lloyd has to beat out Wilson too as Wilson has been playing great. Could it happen? Sure but Miller was the next guy up in NO. I also like Miller more than Lloyd.

Lloyd is a hold for sure but I'm staying a bit more tempered. Chris Brooks has also looked good in GB.

The premise of buying is that you believe in the talent, not that the depth chart is favorable. In a hypothetical universe where Brooks and Wilson are both future Pro Bowlers, that wouldn't preclude Lloyd from achieving success eventually too. There are 32 starting jobs in the league.

If he isn't good enough to beat out journeyman/backup types then that doesn't bode well for his future, but I don't think we have much concrete info there yet. He has been injured for most of his NFL career so far, and everyone in GB is stuck behind Jacobs anyway. It was never likely to be an instant payout.

Dynasty sometimes requires extreme patience, but there's a kneejerk temptation on both sides to claim premature victory. Reality is that it's very early to be making any type of definitive statements about his career. 2-3 years from now he could be one of the top backs in FF or out of the league. I don't think being injured early in his career gives us much of a hint about where he's headed, especially because none of his injuries have been the catastrophic, career-altering type. We just haven't really seen him play much NFL football yet. Maybe he's good. Maybe he's not. Nothing that has happened so far seems very telling.

I guess it comes down to me never being a huge Lloyd fan. He had fumbling issues and I think he was slow getting things going in his first summer rookie camp.

Never say never - maybe he ends up something but he now has to also beat out Wilson who has proven to the coaches he is good and can play. Maybe Lloyd ends up better but right now it isn't the case. GB wants to win and Wilson was being trusted with the final drive with 2mins left to try to seal it for GB over DAL.

If Jacobs goes down no way Marshan gets bulk of carries. That Green Bay backfield wld be split between 3 guys imo.

I agree. However, if one of the backups was to get a heavier workload, Lloyd would be that one.
Why do you think it would be Lloyd? Not saying it couldn't but Wilson has been the next guy up for 2 years and played well and looked good. Couldn't Wilson be the guy?

Having said that, if you believe in Lloyd he's pretty cheap to acquire right now.

Don't think Wilson is going anywhere-- dude is playing great

And Brooks is the blocker/3rd down guy they love

Im excited to see Lloyd but not sure what role it will be in?

Because they seem to think Wilson is an early down back while Brooks is the pass catching back.
Llyod is a player that can do both. Therefore, IF any of them were to get the majority, I would lean Llyod.
That's all I'm saying.
