RB MarShawn Lloyd, GB (2 Viewers)

Favorable in a way. He's who I moved to add Hunt in two leagues. The likelihood of him being picked up anytime soon has to be close to nil.

As a Jacobs owner on bothy league im in I've passed on him in both. I think next year he will hold value. Imo
Why don't you see him having value this year? What if Jacobs gets injured?
Its just my gut reading the tea leaves. I could be way off. He missed portions in the offseason with hip and hamstring. Has played one regular season game. Being a rookie is hard. Being a productive rookie that has missed so much practice time and games at this point in the season on a 6-3 team is also rough. I think they ride Jacobs into the ground and if he breaks it's Wilson. Imo

His ceiling is in outer space, so I'm adding him as Jacobs insurance just in case.

I don't think he will have value this year, but if you have Jacobs and some roster space, he's worth stashing.

Wilson looks good every time I see the Packers

Weird thing is Wilson has lost a ton of snaps and reps to the Brooks kid in recent weeks.

Wilson does run hard and looks good.
Weird thing is Wilson has lost a ton of snaps and a majority of his touches to Chris Brooks in recent weeks

I have Brooks stashed in my dynasty league. I really like the kid. He plays different than Wilson though so guess it depends what the coach is looking for.

That stinks. Hmmm what do you think?

Brooks is good, it is why he keeps getting snatched up when a team has to cut him. Wilson is good too. Lloyd could be a long term solution but right now it looks like it might be a committee.

Gotta switch back to Lloyd then.

Shares are shares and ugh
The only ways to get out of a share is to do real well or draft stock/athleticism pedigree.

He's got the best odds here then since anyone can do well but he's got the pedigree

I have no idea what they will do when they are all healthy and what the split will look like. There is a chance this year Lloyd isn't the guy and Wilson/Brooks are the back-ups. Or Lloyd is so good he is the true cuff and 2nd in the Committee.

But, like J. Brooks (CAR) there is a chance Lloyd doesn't get back into the rotation for this year. Wilson and Brooks may have solidified their spots. I honestly don't know and we should expect or say we know just because we drafted one of the guys.

I picked up Lloyd for IR spot and have Wilson sitting.
If Jacobs is out at some point, maybe I'm covered.
I'm not using three spots and I didn't want to use two but I don't care if on IR.

We've been thru the scenarios. Gotta make some decision for we so that's what I did

Went on IR-R with an ankle. Limited yesterday & today, now they’re listing ankle/hamstring.

LaFleur was exasperated with him in TC because he had B2B injuries that limited his reps.

Not really costing me anything sitting in an IR spot but I’m not sure he’ll ever have a role in 2024.

I think the backup to have with Jacobs is Wilson. Some have said that Wilson is the better blocker of the two and outside of last week, I think Wilson has been the more explosive runner. That written, I'm surprised at how much Brooks has played after being picked up. The bottom line for any Packers RB is can you protect the franchise? After that pass catching and then running.

Thinking about it more, the real beneficiary if Jacobs goes down is Reed. Lafleur will bring him back into the backfield for a pass catching explosive RB...similar to Tyler Ervin in the late 2020 season.

To me the biggest question with Lloyd is how is his pass blocking? As mentioned several times above, I don’t see him getting significant time this year unless he can protect Love. Obviously in Dynasty it’s a longer term question.

Yep. Its also not he is a 3 year or even a 2 year veteran. Practice reps at year 1 are so important. He's just missed so many.

ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reports “MarShawn Lloyd woke up this morning with appendicitis.”
Lloyd’s health issues have run the gamut this season. The talented rookie is currently in returning from a stint on injured reserve, where he recovered from both ankle and hamstring injuries suffered earlier this year. Demovsky adds, “since Lloyd’s 21-day practice window opened already and an appendectomy usually requires several weeks recovery, the Packers are talking to the NFL to see if there’s a way he can still play later on.” We wish Lloyd a swift and complete recovery from his appendectomy. Re-draft managers do not need to continue rostering him at this time.

time is gonna fly until minicamp, kid

see if you can get healthy in the next 7 months
I think they are going to try and get him back in a few weeks.
Starts to get tricky. Teams can designate 8 total players to return from IR during the season. They have already activated from IR so it will be interesting if the league steps in because if they don't he needs to be on active roster within 3 weeks or can't play rest of season. Appendectomy is a 1 to 2 week thing for most, but most aren't returning to NFL rb position. Any complications and the window is so tight I guess they just wouldn't ever activate him. Be interesting what unfolds. Guy is super talented and is definitely in their future, just maybe not this year. Imo

From what I read GB had not burnt any of their 8 designated return from IR spots up this year so they are not crimped in that department.

I believe their plan is to try and activate him, put him back on IR and end up using two of the 8 IR with return designation on him. I guess the thing they need to check with the league about is if they can in fact activate him when he's not healthy and secondly put him back on IR when he's dealing with an issue known before he was activated. It's unusual and not sure if there is something in the rules that might interfere with their plan.

LaFleur says MarShawn Lloyd will go on the non-football injury list.

Yeah, gonna restart the clock. Same timeline as an IR-R (4 weeks) but using NFI since it qualifies & they won't have to burn one of their 8 IR-R spots.

At best he comes back with an unknown workload during the FF playoffs.

Like I posted earlier, GL kid, cya next year.

Second round rookie draft pick basically lit on fire.

Think he’s got a good role for next year though. Prefer handcuff backs vs COP ones in that round of rookie drafts and he has the makings but man it’s gonna be tough if he doesn’t produce out the gate in 2025

Some rookies take time and that is fine. He had injuries including appendicitis. Let him get healthy and a full offseason of NFL training. In general there is too much rookie hype, especially when there is a very good player ahead of them. Doesn't mean they can't eventually be good but it takes time.

Guys like Roschon and Tank Bigsby etc are slowing coming on now in their second year. Not everyone comes out and is an RB1 out of the gates.

Jacobs is a vet who the can trust in all situations (run game, passing game, hurry-up etc.) He was always going to be the guy this year as GB tries to make a playoff run.

I’m not too worried - he looked great in camp. Obviously if he has same injury issues there will be a lot of concern. But I think he has a big role on the team next year. But would also really like to see him get some reps this season.

"Big Role" - maybe slow down just a bit. If GB goes on a good run here to finish the season and Jacobs keeps producing I would expect them to run with Jacobs again. Now maybe they work in Lloyd a bit more next year and he slowly gets more involved. But Lloyd likely a good handcuff to Jacobs next year. Jacobs sitting at 1000 yards rushing, 250 passing and 9 TDs so far this year. He is a vet that is trusted to run the offense.

Side note - in dynasty, after the NFL draft and before your rookie draft, see if you can acquire Lloyd for a low draft pick or a cheap player swap. Lots of hype will be on the rookies and drat picks. Lloyd will likely be very reasonable to acquire. Just don't expect him to be more than a cuff to start the year but someone that could work in more play time.
