RB Miles Sanders, DAL (2 Viewers)

No problem and my apologies for making a bigger deal out of your comment.

As for the bolded I would not agree. All I've been saying is Sanders is the #1RB on this team and his usage and playing time before he got hurt is in fact what the team was doing.  They were just not giving RB's many chances and it just so happened it looked like they were changing their approach the game he got hurt.

The RBs had 19 carries the game Sanders got hurt (Raiders). They didn't change their approach until they brought in a bigger back in Howard, and doubled the amount of RB carries the following game.

Eagles designated RB Miles Sanders (ankle) for return from injured reserve.

The Eagles now have a 21-day period to activate Sanders from injured reserve. And if they plan to play him on Sunday, he must be activated by 4 pm on Saturday. Sanders will likely remain on injured reserve through Friday, so we will not have an official injury designation this week. He presumably has a shot at playing but will be difficult to trust in what could be a part-time role against a tough Saints defense. Boston Scott's value will evaporate as soon as Sanders returns to the lineup, and Jordan Howard will become a desperation, TD or bust option.

Not true. I distinctly recall watching the game he went down and they opened the game like no other game up to that point by feeding Sanders. He had 6 carries on his first 12 snaps and looked great, it was pretty clear to anyone watching the gameplan in that game was different from the rest.

First two drives of the game... a 1 yard gain and a -3 yard carry by Sanders both killed or stalled drives. This is what he does.

And, those drives weren't run heavy, they were about 50-50.

Being an Eagles fan, I also watch games 😉

I think, if anything, the vanishing of Gainwell bodes very well for Sanders as a possible 3-down back with Howard coming in for short yardage/goal line situations.

When Sanders is fully healthy? Yes, I'll take the under.

As a Sanders owner, this seems like wishful thinking... clinging to the hopes of a workhorse role. I think Sanders will get around 15 carries per game, which will be more than enough for fantasy impact, but also leave around 12 carries per game for Howard.

Then you would have also known Gainwell had a costly fumble,  Scott entered the game without a carry all season, Howard was not active, then they fell behind and had to abandon the run.  So yea.

12 or less sounds right. He won't be getting 17 again

I would say 15 or less, with an average of 12 depending on game script. I think Sanders tops out at 18. But honestly, there's been zero evidence that Sanders will get to 18... only a hunch on my part.

None of that indicates that the Eagles were taking a run heavy approach that game. You're just trying to build a narrative that's not based on facts.

Pretty easy to see 18 touches for Sanders with receptions

Lol, really? I should be done with this talk but one more time

They start the game run heavy.

Sanders gets hurt.

Gainwell has a costly fumble.

The wheels came off, they only had a rookie RB who had a big fumble and Scott how had played 4 snaps all season before that game available in a game they were in catch up mode.

You may watch football but I'm not sure you understand it.

Thoughts on this ROS outlook?

Sanders 15-18 touches/game

Howard 7-10 touches/game

Gainwell 2-5 touches/game

Scott 0 touches

All I can say I think they remain very run heavy with Sanders leading the group, but not as what we think of a bellcow, so long as game scrip allows. Howard is only other RB on the team other then Sanders I feel confident has a weekly role.

And looking at their schedule for rest of fantasy season they get 3 games against the NY teams, 2 games against Washington and the Saints this week. These sure seem like the type of matchups that if they avoid big time mistakes they should be find themselves not trailing early and are able to stay committed to the run. As a side note this actually worries me for Jalen Hurts ROS fantasy outlook, the late game trailing massive garbage time production does not seem like something wise to rely on.

Is Sanders worth trading a WR2 for? Where do people see his value.
Not sure of his value.  Seems risky being unsure yet of his usage to trade a viable WR2.

The Sanders owner in my league is the Elliot owner...and I have Pollard.  Ive even hesitated on giving up Pollard for Sanders.  But after losing Aaron Jones, having Barkley still iffy, and unsure on Carson...Im trying to get Sanders and know Pollard will be in that deal.

Keep contemplating giving up Justin Jefferson and Pollard for Sanders and Davante Adams.

He hasn't had 18 touches since week 1 (when he had 19).

None of the other RBs reached 18 touches in the weeks Sanders has been out. No reason to believe it will be anything but full-on RBBC.

I think Scott gets the carries and Gainwell is special teams or an occasional receiver. He can't pick up the protection at all it seems. He's only good for running routes.

ROS, once Sanders is truly 100% or at least reasonably close...

Sanders: 50% touches, 85% RB receps

Howard: 40% touches, 0% RB receps, 80% GTG carries

Scott: 10% touches, 15% RB receps

Gainwell: buried unless injury strikes one of the three above.

IMO

That would be my guess too.

Except the 2B and 2C have produced better than the 1A. The team's clicking with the personnel they've been fielding. I have no dog in this fight other than being an Eagles fan. Just posting a relevant article from an insider's POV.

Take it for what its worth.
what a silly post coming on the heels of one that showed how much more effiicient Sanders has been with his touches. There is NOTHING to suggest Sanders won't slide back into the lead dog role when he returns.

With a team philosophy change and the starter coming back the added carries as the starter can get his average touch to 18.

I never said he'd lose his job, just maybe hold off on expectation out of the gate. There's two RBs that have put up historical numbers (Eagles history) the last few weeks. Maybe don't bench them immediately in favor of someone coming off injury. Ease him back.

But whatever, I just posted an article from an Eagles beat writer.

Well, maybe. I really don't see evidence of a team philosophy change. The philosophy very much seems to be "we'll put lots of different guys back there."

The Sanders owner in my league is trying to get my Damien Harris to pair with his Stevens.  He offered me the two BUF RBs for Harris.

I'm thinking of countering to get Sanders as part of a package where I upgrade at WR.  What do you think of Sanders as a RB3?  My thought is to try to pair Harris with Keenan to get Sanders and Diggs.

Yuck, keep Harris. (I'm talking about his offer of Buffalo RB's -- not sure either are even rosterable, also I'd let him know that Harris is back and healthy and is the starter, so while it would be nice if all of us could pick up a backup RB then get the owner of the primary RB to give him away, that is not how reality works).  I like your idea of going for Diggs.  Depends on scoring but that trade could go either way, but at the same time it doesn't sound like the other owner is very reasonable.

A lot of debate in this thread...and not one mention of the fact that Lane Johnson returned to play in week 7?  That may be the single biggest reason the Eagles run game has shown life.  That and a realization that their starting QB isn't much of a passer.

I'm thinking quality of touches really. With Howard doing Howard things it seems like even if we get this level of Sanders production, it's mostly going to be between the 20's and the amount of goalline work will be minimal. A statline of 14/50 and 3rec/20 is probably going to plug a bye week gap or be a lower end flex play, but the upside is limited to breaking a long TD from somewhere rather than getting a multiple short TD game. As such, I've been holding on IR in redraft, but am I ever going to use him, even considering that compared to many my situation is weak (Conner, Rhamondre, Collins, McKissic, Wilson, Hunt)?

50/50 is run heavy in the NFL now.

This backfield is looking like a stay away from my perspective if everyone is healthy, even if they are running more.
