RB Raheem Mostert, LV (1 Viewer)

He is sitting on one waiver wire rn. Says he intends on playing vs. NE who is a hot mess rn

Looks like Mostert is playing in week 5. Any excitement over this, or was 2023 one of those lightning-in-a-bottle seasons... no further greatness is expected?

Depends on expectations I suppose. Certainly 18 TD was never going to happen again, but Mostert was excellent in both '22 and '23. I'd be excited, except that Miami has no QB right now.

What are we thinking on this guy? Doesn't seem to be getting much attention. Was on a supposed snap count week 5 but took on a workhorse role after Achane went out, and now had the bye week to rest. This week playing a really bad Colts run defense. Is Achane really going to soak up the majority of the touches? Considering starting him due to Aaron Jones injury and Zach Moss losing the starting job.

I have three podcasts in the regular rotation. two of them mentioned mostert yesterday, with the thought that achane doesnt suit up. i think there's high potential there if that is the case.

There is seemingly a 99.99% chance Achane is starting though. I'm expecting something like 55-45 in favor of Achane, with Wright likely not seeing the field unless 1 of the other guys gets hurt or really plays badly.

Thought he looked good against NE before the bye, albeit against a shaky run defense and without Achane.

Starting as my flex in 2 leagues with moderate confidence.

will be interesting to watch against a crumby run d

This is what I like about him this week - another bad run defense. Just not sure how many touches Achane will absorb.

What the hell was tonight about? Zero carries?!
Lame
2 fumbles lost this season in only 6 games, the most of any season in Mostert's career. Mostert's YPC is 3.9 this season, the lowest of his career. Mostert is closer to 33 than 32, and looking slower than ever before. Mostert was a burner, maybe THE burner of his generation, but Father Time is undefeated and seems to be nipping at Raheem's heels.

It's the De'Von Achane show now, and rightfully so. He's earned it and has proven he can carry the load. Wright was drafted to be the 1B to Achane's 1A, and the team's current situation has dictated it's time to start working him in. I expect Achane to get the bulk until a time if/when Wright starts to show out and earn more work. I just don't see Mostert being a significant part of the plan moving forward barring injury to Achane or Wright.

Anyone holding on? May need to drop due to week 12 bye issues, but holding onto glimmer of hope....Do we think Wright has jumped him on pecking order?

I think at this point he lumped into the “hoping for an injury ahead of him” group.
Yep. It's the Achane show now, but if Achane goes down I think Mostert will be more valuable than Wright.
Yup, Mostert getting dumped everywhere.

Which means he's the #1 waiver pickup next week.

I picked him up THIS week in my 14-teamer where my RB2 situation has been a mess all year.

The Coachspeak Index
#Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel on Raheem Mostert’s decreased workload:

“He’s had a couple things pop up that it wouldn’t be fair to his body to overpress him. It’s important to me, that with a very talented backfield, that everyone gets opportunities. Sometimes they come in waves.”

Maybe now we see more Wright

I get the feeling that McDaniels is like McVay and will be adding quality RBs regardless of what they currently have.
Yeah, but at least it isn’t Mostert. Sick of him. He should hang the cleats up.

The thing is it may be someone better then Mostert and then who knows what is up with Wright.
I’m not saying Wright will be right or wrong, but I want to see first.

Wright looked good enough, especially early in the season when he was used more, that I think MIA will not spend much $ or draft capital on a RB with so many holes to fill due to cap casualties and poor draft. They could use a big back.

Wright will get a chance to alternate on 1st and 2nd downs. Achane is a top receiving RB, so Wright won't get many receiving opportunities. Wright turns 22 in April.

OTOH, that's what we thought last year when Grier traded a future 3rd (13th this year) for Wright to Philly. Did that end up helping them get DeJean?

That's a little extreme I think. Mostert is still a solid RB, who can be a starter. He's only a year removed from an excellent season, and despite his age, he has very little mileage on him.

No issues with Miami moving on, I just think its a little soon to be taking Mostert behind the woodshed so to speak.

I get sick of all RBs after 10 years in the league :) Even those who stand the test of time.

The last one I got sick of was Leonard Fournette The last TE I got sick of was Jason Witten, now it's Travis Kelce. For WRs it is now Tyler Lockett. Before that it was Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Smith, and DeSean Jackson. I believe Jerry Rice was 60 when he retired. Michael Jordan on the Wizzards, yuck. I like youngblood.

Yes, JU on the Chargers, yuck.

Was a great addition on my squad two seasons ago and he is a great humble dude.

But he is on his very last stop and I don’t expect much anymore.
