RB Rashaad Penny, CAR (3 Viewers)

Wow. Good job predicting this by all the peeps who did. Penny's going to need an injury to get a shot it seems. Ugly situation for him and anyone rostering him.

Scott inactive this week. If there was ever a chance for him to prove he has value to the team, this is it.

Penny would be 3rd guy in so probably won't see the field without an injury.
On the waiver wire in one of my dynasty leagues.
It's about 50/50 in my leagues and I'm surprised that many people are holding onto him. It made some sense to me before the trade deadline, was some rumors a team like Tampa might be interested in reuniting him with Canales.

But in a 20-22 roster sized dynasty league I'm not really into holding an older RB who is not even the next man up if the top guy went down.

Sounds to me like he’d still be behind Gainwell if Swift got hurt:

I like Penny but I think he’s in the same predicament Trey Sermon was in last season.
I little better situation than Sermon. Sermon was a "why not" waiver add mid season. Penny they recruited and signed before Swift became available later in the off-season. So they wanted Penny here.

I'm not saying he has any fantasy value right now but if he gets some carries he can at least show the coaches he deserves to play. That's a start.

Just something to chew on... Swift is averaging 3.65 yards per carry over the past 5 games.
He faced some good dlines, NYJ and WAS and an improved MIA vs the run. I don't watch all of his carries, but PFF has him at a modest 68.1 Is he slowing down, leaving yards on the field?

As an Eagles fan, I don't think he's looked nearly as good as games 2 and 3. He has looked a bit indecisive, and maybe a little too much in love with his dead leg behind the line scrimmage. A healthy Penny is actually probably a better scheme fit. But, Penny did not look healthy at all in game 2 against the Vikings. He looked very sluggish. Tomorrow could shed a lot of light on these things.

Will go down as one of the big time "what could have been" guys. That down the stretch run he had in 2021 was ridiculous.
He looked completely lost during his few appearances last year. It was kind of sad. How he went from his 2021 season to that so quickly is baffling.
I'm imagine the additional injuries post-2021 just became too burdensome after his previous ones. Probably some mental element to it too, although obviously hard to say.

Goes down as a legit legend in my book. His run in 2021 helped carry me to a championship.
Let's show exactly what he did over those 4-5 weeks when we needed him the most in the Playoffs

16/137/2TDs, followed by 11/39, that was a dud but he has 3 more pretty stellar games
17/135/TD...and he didn't need 30 touches to rack up all these yds and scores,
25/170/2TD
23/190/TD

-81 carries for 632 yds and 6 TDs over those 4 games, almost 8 yds a carry by my math

Kind of interesting topic, who were those legendary playoff performers? Guys who had unremarkable careers but for one playoff stretch carried teams to money. Drew Bennet and Dion Lewis jump to mind.

Drew Bennett 2004 comes immediately to mind. From weeks 12-14 20 receptions, 517 yards (18.5 y/r) with 8 TDs.

He came up small in week 15 & 16 with 4 rec, 76 yds, 1 TD but that run took a lot of people to money, if not championships.

2019 Breshad Perriman when he was on TB. Mike Evans was out like the last 3 games of his run.

Final 5 games:
5 for 87
3 for 70 and 1 TD
5 for 113 and 3 TD's
7 for 102
5 for 134 and 1 TD
This is excellnt, good memory, I'd forgotten about this. Had folks eager to see more of him and then he vanished like a fart in the wind

63/1082/12 BIG TDs in '99

Last 5 weeks...
7/107/TD
8/147/2TD
8/138/TD
5/160/2TD
7/165/2TD

35/717/8TDs over that stretch, Incredible and then I think he missed the entire 2000 season and was out of the league after '01
