As a shareholder in 2 leagues I was a little concerned about his pending FA.
Underrated RB in dynasty & redraft. I’m excited about his potential as the centerpiece of that offense.
Yes!
Major, major development. The Belichick regime would have most likely let him walk, as they seemed to keep lead RB's on a 3-year window. Going back to 2000, Antowain Smith and Corey Dillon are the only RB's to lead the team in rushing yards for three separate seasons.
He did just turn 26 in Feb, so it’s a young 26, but I agree that it’s unlikely he plays the entire contract out.Major, major development. At age 26 I would be surprised if he made it through the entire four years, but it's nice to know his role and immediate future is secure. He has an every-down skill-set. Just need the run blocking to be on point and Stevenson will do well. I always thought it was a good sign that they didn't draft his replacement. I'm glad he's staying.

Rhamondre Stevenson’s extension makes him the 7th highest-paid RB in the NFL on a per-year basis:
Christian McCaffrey: $19M
Alvin Kamara: $15M
Jonathan Taylor: $14M
Saquon Barkley: $12.583M
Josh Jacobs: $12M
Joe Mixon: $9.875M
Rhamondre Stevenson: $9M
Most player contracts and for sure the RB contracts are designed where the guarantees run out in two years. I believe Barkley is only RB from the group this off-season to see guarantees in the third year of his deal but they are minimal, main thing is that his contract, like most RB contracts, are designed for an easy exit out if the teams want to go that direction after 2 years or less. I'm sure same thing will be for Rhamondre, except in his case the easy out is probably 3 years away since the extension does not kick in until his 4th season is over.He did just turn 26 in Feb, so it’s a young 26, but I agree that it’s unlikely he plays the entire contract out.Major, major development. And not for nothing, his trade value should jump as well with the news, so long as he stays healthy. Most player contracts and for sure the RB contracts are designed where the guarantees run out in two years. So for Rhamondre's dynasty value I consider this great news, very happy. It's a legit 3 year minimum commitment for a 26 year old which I love to see, feel like you can plan around him as a staple of your fantasy teams RB rotation for that timeframe.
Not so sure it's wise by NE to extend him for those terms when he has a year left, not the move I'd have advocated doing from their angle.

Rhamondre is on my shortlist for most underrated backs. Three-down skillset. Unique runner with his blend of size and footwork.
Injuries and QB play hurt him last year, but it's worth remembering: he had over 1,000 yards rushing and 400 receiving in 2022. Good player.

It’s crazy to me that jacobs got more money than Mixon and stevensonAdam Schefter

Why? Mixon is 1.5 yrs older, and he and Rhamondre are the same age (well, 12 days apart). Rhamondre may have less mileage, but in 2 of his first 3 seasons, he missed 5 games each. It’s crazy to me that jacobs got more money than Mixon and stevensonAdam Schefter

That’s what I’m trying to figure out too, because all it’s told me is he’s missed relatively few games due to injury (mostly the end of last season). What’s the point of this?Injury History

Solid analysis in your post. Pats aren't trying to win this year. I highlighted the above because I think Henry could be a sneaky good TE for fantasy this year. A solid TE is a rookie QB's best friend not to mention he seems well liked by the team (being a captain last year). He's also an above average blocker IIRC.15.8 mill to Hunter Henry. (Hunter Henry?)
Agreed. I tried to get him this offseason but owner is bullish as well.Solid analysis in your post. Pats aren't trying to win this year. Good. How would a rumored trade of Aiyuk to NE impact Stevenson?
Aiyuk could be a big boost to the offense. More drives sustained, more scoring opportunities. How would a rumored trade of Aiyuk to NE impact Stevenson?
Yep, RS is going to get the same amount of carries (ish) no matter who the WR's are.Aiyuk could be a big boost to the offense. More drives sustained, more scoring opportunities. How would a rumored trade of Aiyuk to NE impact Stevenson?
agreed. but with the rookie(Maye) at QB (which I think happens at some point this year) I think a defensive Coordinator will still stack the box and force the rookie to beat them with his arm.Yep, RS is going to get the same amount of carries (ish) no matter who the WR's are.Aiyuk could be a big boost to the offense. So with Ayiuk, it means:
1. Less stacked boxes if they respect the pass more
2. More 1st downs which are often running plays
3. More time closer to the goalline which is huge for TD chances
Nothing but good things for RS if Ayiuk ends up there.
Ya.... I mean I'm not going crazy, but I would bump him maybe HALF a round if Ayiuk lands there. once the Maye shows he can do that, then what you have described will likely come to pass.
hard to tell how this plays out with Brisset. Maybe the same, but maybe not.
I think getting a top WR cant hurt the situation and may help. but if the QB is not up to the task, it may take a while til you see this

"Rhamondre Stevenson has moved well in camp and seems fresher than last summer. I still have my doubts about his fit in an outside zone-based scheme, mainly because the scheme works best if the ball carrier is a threat to bounce runs around the corner. But his yards after contact numbers are more reflective of his 2022 breakout season, he'll still be an early-down factor in the pass game, and the Pats will be able to adapt to more gap schemes if needed. Stevenson's statistical production will hinge, as it does for many backs, on the blocking he gets. If he gets serviceable blocking, he looks poised for a big year."
agreed. if he gets serviceable blocking. I watched part of one of their exhibition games and the line looked like a dogs breakfast. not sure if these were the starters or not but it looked real ugly. which is of course somewhat concerning if buying into that offense.@32BeatWriters"Rhamondre Stevenson has moved well in camp and seems fresher than last summer. Ah, yes. We’ve finally reached “clicks on every player topic with an impending sense of dread” SZN.
Probably same workload which is likely to be impressive.I think if Brisset’s injury leads to Maye starting, Stevenson will be relied on even more. Thoughts?
Still a bottom five offense and Gibson is an upgrade over Zeke.I think if Brisset’s injury leads to Maye starting, Stevenson will be relied on even more. Thoughts?

#Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson's rushing chart from Week 1. Stevenson averaged 6.4 yards per rush against 7+ defenders in the box and gained +22 rushing yards over expectation, per NextGen.
Well on the bright side, your efforts to trade away Stevenson and Achane for whatever you can get should be easier after this week.I concur with a lot of the thoughts here. This guy is a middling injury backup type RB and won't be very fantasy-relevant. NE will be luck to average 13 points a week

Yeah that's pretty wild. I can see them not wanting to pay a 1st for him, but I'd happily give a 2nd for him after seeing how they used him week 1 and how he did with the touches. Bengals aren't world beaters on defense, but definitely in the top half of the league. Even if I didn't "need" a RB I'd be interested. It's a long season and the injuries will be hitting eventually.Nobody wants RS...i have already sent 3 trades and no takersWell on the bright side, your efforts to trade away Stevenson and Achane for whatever you can get should be easier after this week.I concur with a lot of the thoughts here. The key for Stevenson will be the Pats D ability to keep things close...if that happens, I believe they are committed to giving him a ton of carries because that is how Mayo wants to play this year...since he is solid in the passing game it will not be a disaster if they have to play catch-up which they will be doing with their schedule...Stevenson looks like he really got himself into great shape this offseason and as long as he stays healthy, he should be a solid #2 RB and if you can get him as your #3 I think he would be great in that role.

I think that is the huge key. I don't suspect that will be the case going forward in most games and they are going to need to open it up (and can't) and then he is lost in the game plan...
I'll take the week 1 points but I suspect it doesn't even close to hold up
I don't think Stevenson will have as many good outcomes as Week 1. Against better prepared teams, RS won't be as fortunate. Go back and watch the highlights . . . he was hit multiple times in the backfield and somehow shook loose. Against teams that could tackle, he would have had half as many yards . . . 25 carries for 60 yards doesn't sound quite as enticing. I also don't think the Pats will be in position to run the ball nearly 40 times again. If the game script is NE falling behind and having to pass most of the game, I think Gibson could see plenty of snaps. The only other RB to get a carry was Antonio Gibson. 7 att for 18 yds ... 2.6 avg.
Not much of a threat to cut into Stevensons playing time.
The biggest drawback is that this team wont score many TD's.
Rhamondre Stevenson could still get ~1,300 total yards from scrimmage and 6 total TD's and that would put him in the high end fantasy RB2 range that he was at in 2022 (when that offense was also garbage). And that was with Damien Harris taking 123 touches over the course of the season. 123 touches would be an improvement on the 113 that Antonio Gibson had last season with the Commanders, a team that had the second worst record in the NFL and was in negative game script more often than not. I think, assuming Stevenson has a healthy 2024, that is the best case outcome for Gibson.I don't think Stevenson will have as many good outcomes as Week 1. I think people need to take a close look at all his touches this week. He aces the eyeball test. Dude is more than legit. Big and quick with good receiving ability. The jump cuts are really impressive for somebody his size.
I believe Stevenson is a top-5 RB as far as talent, easily top-10. He'd be a league-winner in Dallas. Yes, the offense is plenty questionable, but he'll score FF points on ability, alone. Kinda funny people are touting KWIII's performance in a not great offense, but aren't giving Dre ANY love. That said, I understand the downside if the Pats suck.
If Maye can keep defenses honest and their D is as good as it looks right now, this cat is gonna be a huge surprise. FFers should take him more seriously, IMO.
It was a colossal mistake, but he shared with Zeke last year. WAY underutilized. He's the type of RB who can really get rolling with a lot of touches. Gibson is a JAG and the first week was pretty telling how they feel about their RB room. Yes, I realize they could be playing from behind in a lot of games, but that's ok. Dre is a good receiver and certainly better than Gibby (despite what many think).I think people need to take a close look at all his touches this week. He aces the eyeball test. I mean he didn't do anything last year...and this offense is probably just as bad
