RB Ronald Jones, Cowboys (3 Viewers)

Watched the game he looked great. Had 2 other runs worth over 80yards called back.

When he gets to the edge it's off to the races.

They need to get him more involved in screen and pass game over Obungawale. He pass blocked well and can turn a screen into long game.

Guy should definitely be RB1 going forward instead of Barber.

They will still split time, and I still wonder how much the upside is capped, but if Arians actually moves to trust RoJo with the lion's share going forward and he continues to shine, could be a really effective flex player/matchup-dependent RB2 and ongoing contributor to your fantasy squad this year that most of us got for free.

Looked awesome today, and as others pointed out he had two monster runs called back.

They’re also clearly trusting him in the passing game as well. He had two designed plays as the #1 receiving option.

Well as one of his most outspoken critics, I’ll eat some crow. He’s coming on.

I did, however, trade for him on Saturday in one dynasty where I was relying on Ekeler as my RB2 thinking he was a fairly cheap upside RB that could replace Ekeler in my lineup.

I still don’t think he’s a great RB but he’s better than Barber and I’m on board.

I'd encourage anyone interested to go back and watch him this game.

If he didn't have two of his longer runs called back then his box score numbers would've jumped off the page against a stout Rams run D and your buy low window would've been closed shut.

I picked him up off waivers last week for free. It doesn’t show on the box score but there’s something about the way that he looked last week that I decided to grab and stash for my playoff run. We’ll see!

Tex

I'm actually so pissed at myself right now. I have him in 2/3 leagues and was planning to drop Royce for him on Saturday in that one I did not have him. Someone grabbed him Friday night. Now I'm considering offering McCoy for Jones and one of his wrs.

He's looked great but pff is very flawed. Still think he's going to have a big ros though
They’re better than any other player measuring metric I’ve seen. I don’t think Jones is the best RB in the league of course but I like the way PFF does things.

PFF rankings are wonky as hell. He's obviously improved but isn't even close to one of the best RBs in the league. I was one who thought adding weight would hurt him. I was wrong about that as he needs the added weight because he's a straight ahead runner and doesn't really (successfully) avoid contact. He even looks a little faster despite adding the weight - perhaps that's because he's more decisive.

As a new owner - and if I was a Bucs fan - I would hope Arians takes him to task for trying to leap over so many defenders. In the open field it's one thing but he does it when there's a pile of players and that's a recipe for a bad injury.

Last 2 weeks in standard PPR he has ranked 19th and 21st...in 12-Team+ leagues that's a solid RB2 slot and surely enough for most Flex spots. He is really competing in the 30-50 range of RBs because that's where sites rank him weekly.

He is putting up starter numbers right now but Week2 production makes owners very nervous.  Still feel Barber will get the short yardage and inside the 10 red zone touches. So there is a limit to how much one can expect from Jones but hovering around 12-15 weekly, RB 15-25 especially with Bye Weeks looming...I snared him off waivers the minute he was cut by a fellow owner and I dropped Barber to do it.

I like his upside if he could grab 2-3 more catches a game or become some kind of factor there it would raise the ceiling more in the 15-18 pt range. Lot of football and season left for him to continue to progress and get better.

For those who own him, question is, is anyone actually thinking of starting him this week against a stingy NO D?

NO has been slightly up and down against the run, starting the season by allowing opposing backs over 100 per game. But they ratcheted back up over the past two weeks shutting down Chris Carson and Zeke over the last two games.

It's a tough spot to trust RoJo this week.

I am not, but I have the luxury of Mark Ingram, Carson, and Gurley as potential starters instead of him.

Unless/until there is clarity with Damien/Darrell Williams going into Sunday I think I will have to pivot to Jones in my flex spot.

I "overpaid" FAAB to secure RoJo two weeks ago knowing he was going to cost a lot more if I let him sit. Feeling good about myself right now lol

I think he takes over majority touches permanently as early as this week, and he looks electric. It's only a matter of time before he houses a 50 yarder.

His predraft expectations appear more accurate with each passing game, with the added bonus of 10 pounds of muscle. Big second half of the year incoming.

Sunday morning I thought to myself, I should walk over to the computer to drop Justin Jackson and pick up RoJo.  But I rolled over and went back to sleep instead.  Kinda pissed about it now.

some of the stuff PFF spits out is questionable. RJ has looked better. No way should he be rated the best RB. Lol
Just reporting the news. Some posters here spent his entire rookie year and the off-season cracking jokes about Jones. It appears he’s getting the last laugh.

Took over a dynasty orphan team with him on it, and didn’t ever expect him to go anywhere based off of last season, yet I held on when sent various crappy trade offers. What a bonus it would be now if he is genuinely improved and taking over the starting job. He looked great on Sunday

People wanted to write him off after 22 carries in his rookie year without even giving him a chance.

in for the star, was able to land him off the waiver wire this week in my short bench league.. hoping he becomes the man very soon...

Hard to trust a back in this offense but this is the right direction you want to see as an RJ owner.  I need him to pan out as my RB depth is pretty thin.

Haven't even watched a Bucs game this year but it looks like the last few weeks he has had some long runs called back due to holding calls.

I dropped McCoy for him. Rather have someone with youth and potential, than the 3-4 headed monster that is the KC RB situation.

50/50 shot there, IMHO -- McCoy looks to at least have a secure role in a high octane offense, as long as he stays healthy.

We will likely see RBBC in KC, but impact is more on Damien/Darrel Williams and Thompson (if he ever stakes a claim) than Shady's role, which seems to remain regardless of who is the RB2 in KC.

RoJo also will split time, but has the shot to be the starter, question is how much the TB offense can be trusted compared to KC.

It's a coinflip and not a bad gamble, will be interesting to see how RoJo's trajectory continues, and who ends up more valuable to FF teams this year.

On the season Barber has 53 carries and Jones has 50. But Barber's 23 carries on Thursday night in week 2 is looking like an aberration. I think Jones is already the #1 back in TB.

Jones won't be an 80% guy so Barber will definitely have a good role, particularly as Arians loves to prop up mediocre veterans. But it looks like Jones is the lead guy IMO.

JennaLaineESPN @JennaLaineESPN

Lot of fans on here have called for second-year RB Rojo to be the lead back. Bruce Arians said he likes the one-two punch they have. Remember when David Johnson was a rookie? He had five TDs in the first five weeks and still didn’t start until Week 13.

And Jones isn’t a rookie

DJ only had 35 total carries up until week 13. RoJo has already surpassed that by week 4.
Both great points but I think we can agree that as long as both are healthy Jones will probably be capped at, at best, 65% of the RB carries in Tampa.

ETA: And that is his upside, he could still regress. He clearly didn't get something last year, no guarantee it's all fixed now.

TB was the #1 passing offense in the NFL last year. They look well on their way to being right up there with the best of the best again.

There’s so much misinformation thrown around out there about the Bucs.

I don't agree with your cap estimate at all. If he he keeps this up he can easily get more.

That simply is not Arians M.O.

Besides there are very few RBs that get 65% or more of a teams carries and the ones that do are special talents like Zeke, McCaffrey & Saquon. Dalvin is only getting 68% of the carries in Minnesota.

Do we think Ronald is that caliber of RB?
