And there goes his perceived push. Really, the minute Brady was signed there was no way Jones would have a 3-down role, he just can't pass block effectively out there and it'd be more glaring with Brady now the QB.

Bruce has been saying this weeks before they ever signed Brady, the need for a pass catching RB, one that can line up as a WR and not just catch screen.
I still think he's got a good chance to be a good hold in dynasty or still retain big role this year. Just depends if they add a RB in round 1-2 range who can threaten his every down load or more of a pure pass catching RB later in draft or possibly via FA like Freeman. My best guess? He get crushed in round two of the draft and reverts to basically a high end handcuff but one that I'd still like to hold due to age and improvement I saw last year. But personally I've not gotten higher on him since they signed Brady or at anytime this offseason. Always figured they'd be bringing in someone else, kind of thought it would be David Johnson.

Ronald Jones struggled with pass protection when he came into the NFL and he continued to have issues with his skills in that area at the end of last year:

31 catches in a part time role is now 'not a pass catching back'? The pass protection is the issue.

Any chance this guy carves out a Sony Michel type role this year? Depth chart is basically just him and Vaughn. Feel like he’s kinda being overlooked

I've refused to touch him through two years, but yeah, he may be a value this season.
He had 172 carries last year. Barber leaves 154 carries behind. If Jones can pick up 1/3 of those, he's up to 225 carries. Brady will sustain drives longer than Winston by not throwing 30 picks. Suddenly 250 carries is doable, and 1,000 yards on the ground becomes reasonable.
They keep talking about how Jones is really trying to improve as a pass catcher. He had 31 catches last season and averaged 10 yards per catch. That doesn't suck.
He won't be a top 10 RB. But, it's not crazy that he could wind up an RB2.
Obviously Vaughn is the thing holding his value down. He's a lot more interesting if they didn't draft him. But it may be making RJ more of a draft day value.

2013 Knowshon Moreno upside, imo. Could be the beneficiary of a great passing offense.

I think he’s among the better values. Dynasty offers I’ve been getting have been getting better & better. I’m holding. If there’s football in 2020, I think Vaughn’s presence will keep RoJo’s price deflated, but I believe that’s unrealistic. With little to no offseason, and likely limited camps, they’re not going to hand a large role to a rookie without the confidence of having seen him on the practice field, or the chemistry of working with other players.

He went 5.02 in an FPC draft a couple days ago. He is climbing. I'm still very skeptical. But yes, rookie curve and Brady protection is going to matter a lot.

Not that I'm aware of. Jones significantly outplayed Freeman last year, and Devonta hasn't really been a factor since 2016.

Vaughn is WAY overrated, IMO, so RoJo has a chance to be a legit FF asset if he can take advantage of his raw ability (& Arians actually gives him a real shot at the feature back role).

People forget (me included) just how explosive Jones was in college. Over 3600 yards / 6.1 avg / 39 TDs in 3 years.

He looks explosive at the NFL level but has terrible vision, and I haven't seen much lateral agility. He just runs fast and straight into defenders - it's almost like he's jumping into them. He's not big enough to be successful doing it that way in the NFL.
I guess there's still room for some growth from him and he's likely Tampa's best option for this season unless McCoy finds the fountain of youth down in Florida, so from a production standpoint there's things to like. I'll likely pass for better options though in redraft and I have very little interest in dynasty as he seems very replaceable. We're talking about a guy that couldn't separate from Peyton Barber to carry a heavy workload.

RoJo has had kind of a weird career. Despite what you think of him, he hasn't been given a real shot.
I don't believe there's much doubt RoJo is their most dynamic RB & one with the highest ceiling. He's a tricky projection, though. It's simply going to come down to how much of his raw ability he can unlock & if Arians will actually LET him be the guy.

He’s been in the league for two seasons and what major injury did he suffer in college? It wasn’t during his senior year.

I've done 2 drafts this year and ended up with Jones in both, as an RB3(round 7) and an RB4(round 8) so I guess I'm a fan of his. I will say that Vaughn's tape didn't impress me at all, and McCoy looks pretty close to finished. There is certainly a reasonable scenario where Jones has say 225 touches 1,100 total yards and 8 TD's. I don't see any compelling reason his role gets smaller than it was a year ago.
I could see a bit of a TD spike too. Jones had 6 TD's despite not getting any of the team's short yardage work. They had 14 carries from the 1-or-2 yard line last year, and Jones got 0 of them. I don't see that being the case with Barber gone, and the competition being a rookie and a fumbler.
