RB Tony Pollard, TEN (1 Viewer)

I've mentioned Chestnut alot.
He's been the top RB in camp while Henry sat out the summer and he ran with the ones a lot while Pollard rested this summer.

He's talented. Like Henry and every classic back. He needs some carries to get going then busts one.

Coach was complimentary this summer. He's even a good blocker and fine receiver.

He whiffed on a punt blocking assignment and allowed a punt block. He apologized to the team and didn't need to but....good guy. Callahan seemed to lose trust in him. It's unfair, one play in three years but he did.

Spears got hurt and Chestnut filled in with no second thought given. Twice.

Spears was out and Chestnut had zero carries til Pollard got hurt. 4 carries and a pass later and Pollard was back in and Chestnut didn't get any more carries.

Signed Josh Kelly. Inactive. They've got Chestnut. Umm ok.

Activated Kelly for a game- didn't see him get a snap. I guess Chestnut was fine in all of like eight snaps.

I'm not thinking Pollard misses but Chestnut may finally get some work in. It'll bring back the old prob of needing this many carries to get going but y'all will see he's good. There's plenty of preseason highlights and he probably averages like 5ypc in the most limited opportunities.

I guess we'll see if coach has an issue trusting him.

For DFS only- I'm going with him and hoping he breaks one and has a nice day. He's a fine lottery ticket.

We did discuss this maybe a week or two ago and also I mentioned him in Titans RBs thread. He's a "preseason star" but almost no work in season sooo he's also classic like that. Roll the dice I guess

I have long thought a thunder n lightning approach would be best for the Titans. A guy like Pollard or Spears reminds ya how thumpers have value and alter a defense. So imo they'd be better off if Chestnut had a great game and then from like here on out he gets some snaps each week.

I recall reading some of your posts mentioning him and really appreciate your insights on all things Titans. If Pollard misses I'm going to give Chestnut a start in one of my flexes and see if he can come through with hopefully some volume.

If Pollard is out then Chestnut is the only show in town. That makes him worth looking at but let’s not make more out of it than it is.
Undrafted. Went to Sacred Heart college. 20 total carries into his 3rd year. Yeah, I'm all in.
Not expecting him to be Earl Campbell. Just taking a shot with a guy possibly getting his opportunity in the league with a little bit of volume... where I'm in a large redraft league with 3 flexes, the waiver wire is barren and I wouldn't have Pollard in a good matchup. Simply looking for someone useful who might score a TD. In this case he's as good of a dart throw for the week as anyone else I could pick up. That's it.

Right, I think we can all agree if you are in dire straights for a RB this week, and I will be in a league if Pollard is out, it's time for fire up the Chestnut. Only show in town, volume, all the same thing. He's fantasy relevant this week.

I'm just not expecting him to earn anything when the other two are healthy. Forget his lack of pedigree, two staffs have had him and not seen a reason to use him. Like we saw with Sean Tucker, you can come out and win player of week and still not have any kind of useful role when everyone is healthy.

You don't have to explain it to me. I can't think of many situations where Chestnut is playable, but I suppose if you have a million flex spots, there is one.

RB J. Kelley activated.

Uh oh.

Chesnuts roasting on the open fire tmrw.
They did last week but I don't think he had any offensive snaps.
They're comfortable with two backs (did two weeks ago) so this activating means little.
Also Chestnut was a third active back and not used some weeks with Spears and Pollard getting the work. Really comfy with two backs

Multiple reports are saying the Titans think he will play. Pregame workout to make sure and chance of early exit apparently.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Tony Pollard (foot) is expected to play in Week 9 against the Patriots.

Pollard did not practice once this week but still drew a questionable tag on Friday. With Tyjae Spears ruled out because of a lingering hamstring issue, the Titans took things down to the wire with Pollard despite his lack of a single practice rep. It appears to have worked as Pollard is in line to gut it out versus the Pats. With Pollard limited at best, it’s safe to assume we will see more of Julius Chestnut than usual. Chestnut is stepping into the No. 2 role sans Spears. Fantasy managers with a bench spot to spare could take a flyer on Chestnut before Sunday’s games.

Idk anything different from the reports.

Pollard is the same as any other risky play when the guy missed practice all week.

You've "been here" with other players over the years. Make your decision with that in mind. Don't just think of Puka

He's ranked pretty high by FBGs this week considering the risk. Not sure I want to start him at Flex (PPR).
I have flipped back and forth between him and Chubba. Which risk is worth it (stacked box vs injury all week). With them calling up the RB off practice squad I am a little more concerned.

Glad I went with Pollard! He looks good. Had a couple big runs and a nice ~20yd TD called back as well, could’ve been a mister day. But I’ll take 150 yds from my flex anytime.

Not surprisingly Pollard didn't practice in padded practice today.
Chestnut was limited with a foot injury

I REALLY hope this is just maintenance.
Wednesday IIRC he said "eh he's got an ankle."

It's week 700 of a losing season. Sometimes the pressers are casual or laid back and sometimes it seems like "ugh this again."

Friday's reports matter.
Wednesdays don't always mean much with older players or players that you know are sore.

Levis' reports have been that he threw, it's sore, but not at all like when he was previously out.
We all kinda knew that after the hit he took.

'Burrow and Chase are great' quotes from their former OC.

It's been very unexciting thus far.

Nothing again today.
S Reese hurt his ankle Wednesday in practice and coach said there wasn't much of anything else.

Titans reporters aren't concerned still

Not at practice.

Anyone grabbing Spears?
I guess you have to but I expect Pollard plays.

I've been vocal in the last couple game threads that Spears isn't showing that burst he always has since the concussion. I'm not sure what's up with that. Hammy before IIRC and plenty of time to recover from it. He's got a video game type woah look at that type burst. It's noticable when it's absent

On some injured Titans:

RB Tony Pollard (ankle) should be good to go tomorrow vs. Bengals.

Much less optimism for CB Roger McCreary (shoulder) and LB Otis Reese (ankle), though they’ll workout in the morning for a final ruling.

Titans RB Tony Pollard, listed as questionable for Sunday due to an ankle injury, is expected to play vs. the Bengals, per source. Pollard needs 63 more rushing yards for his third straight 1,000+-yard rushing season.

Pre game warm up video he looked good. I'm not a medical professional, but short clip was encouraging. Didn't seem to be favoring ankle at all. I'm starting.

I'm impressed with Pollard this year. Not just production but toughness. He's constantly on the injury report, doesn't practice all week, and then suits up.

Keep thinking of picking up Spears, but Pollard refuses to go down.

He's definitely all that.

Those two aren't the back for tough yardage spots and it's been frustrating that Callahan hasn't seemed to like Chestnut or Chargers guy for those.

We'll never know what would have happened with the drives that ended on third and two and less

Callahan on Pollard "pretty significantly banged up"

Complimented him (and Murray and Sweat) for playing through it

Any news on status as of today?
Same as it's been for weeks
Trend.

I saw a bigger limp than ever before last week but he's also had a mid game limp the announcers point out every week. He usually has a nice run right after too.

He's just such a trooper.

Every guess works, every single one, so this is tough for FF.

#Titans RB Tony Pollard has the flu, jeopardizing his status for Sunday at Jacksonville, per source. He is not expected to travel with the team today. He was on the injury report with an ankle issue but had planned to play through that.

@bcat01
This came out a few minutes ago.
Everyone else would be out. This only "jeopardizes" his status because the trooper may get there on his own or somesuch.
I highly doubt it but kudos to him on the toughness reputation he's earned
