RB Travis Etienne, JAX (2 Viewers)

I was bummed at myself for not taking him in redraft at 3.11 (he went next pick.)

Took advantage of the Week 1 overreaction, and traded James Conner for him. Posted the trade here and on Reddit. 100% of people who proffered an opinion said I lost the trade.
Great trade. The fun part is the last 2 weeks the coaches have been saying that there is still so much more untapped potential and that he’s got a whole another level to unlock.

Nice comeback yesterday for the team yesterday. Down 0-17, kicked a FG as the half ran out to make it 10-20. TDs on their first two drives and then salted it away. Regardless of script, they don't go long without getting him the ball. Use him a lot in the RZ and to run out the clock.

Wish they would run more pass plays for him but can't complain too much about the utilization. 3 straight over 100 rushing, 5 straight over 100 YFS, pacing for 1285 rushing and 1600 YFS.

So what kind of draft capital would you give for him straight up? I'm pretty sure I over paid, but damn if I get three years of this level of play it will be worth it by far.

I was offered combo's of Javonte + a late 1st or Swift + a late 1st (the 1st is from a different but first place team currently) last week in a non-ppr and passed. I did think about it.

You mean javonte for a late first? I'm lost as to what the offer actually was there.

Pretty sure he meant he was offered 2 deals. ETN for Javonte and a late first
ETN for Swift and a late first
Ahhh okay I see now. Stupid me. Damn though, I feel better. Sent my (16 team league) late 1st, 2nd and 24 1st for ET, and I'd value a swift/javonte+1st over the pick package I gave up.

Yes, either of those RB’s plus a 1st. But it’s likely to be in the 10-12 range and it’s non-PPR so 1sts drop off in value a lot quicker than in PPR.

My league is ppr, pp1st, and idp, so despite the league size there's a lot of depth where picks are concerned. Still, if ET performs at 90% of what he has the past few weeks...

Travis Etienne rushed 11 times for 45 yards in the Jaguars' Week 10 loss to the Chiefs, adding three catches for 28 yards.

Etienne dominated the Jacksonville backfield again this week, ceding just two touches to backup JaMycal Hasty. The only problem was the Jaguars' poor performance in the trenches. Nine of his carries went for fewer than four yards and four of his attempts gained no more than a yard. Etienne still showed off his game-breaking speed with a 24-yard reception. Following the Jags' Week 11 bye, Etienne will look to rebound as a low-end RB1 versus the Ravens.

Anyone else find it a little odd how high FBGs seems to be on this guy? I'm seeing rest-of-year rankings (non-PPR) that have him second to Henry, which... what am I missing?

Workhorse. Not many of those guys around.
I guess. I just feel like I've been around FBG long enough to know that they occasionally get out over their skis on a player for a week or two, then quickly come back to the pack. Wondering if that's happening here or there's something else.

Jags just claimed Darrell Henderson. Hope he doesn’t eventually cut into Etienne’s work too much.
They wanted ETN to be their workhorse while James Robinson was on the team, and Robinson is significantly better than Henderson IMO. Don't see this as anything besides a depth play.
100% agree. Henderson is fighting Hasty for work, not Etienne.
Probably right and it wouldn’t hurt to take a few carries off Etienne’s monster workloads - as long as they’re not high leverage touches.

Sounds like it might have been precautionary.

🙏

Thank God I can go a week or two without him with Cook, Pierce and Jeff Wilson but he's been my most consistent back since JAGs and Big Balls Doug gave him the reins to the backfield
He’s a cornerstone of my rebuild. It would be so cruel to have acquired him, seen him perform at this level then not have him when I need him next year.

Hopefully this is accurate and not just player optimism.

Great news! (Well, for me..I don’t need him until next year. Totally screwed FF owners this week though)

NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reports that Travis Etienne (foot) was cleared to return in Week 12 against the Ravens.

Doug Pederson told reporters that he opted to hold Etienne out "not to risk it." Given that he could have returned in Week 12, Etienne seems like a very good bet to be able to play in Week 13 against the Lions. Fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on his practice reports, but assuming he's good to go, Etienne gets a great bounce-back matchup against a vulnerable Detroit run defense.

Can anyone confirm which foot was injured yesterday? I thought I read somewhere it was not the same foot that he had the Lis Franc injury to, but Dr Jene’s report (FBG email) said it is the same foot?

Even he’s really fine, I’m concerned that he played himself out of the true workhorse role we got to see in recent weeks.

As mentioned upthread, it’s not necessarily a bad thing if it keeps him healthier, but still means ceding points to Hasty and/or Henderson - just hopefully not high leverage touches.

IMO he’s just got to make it through a game without incident & they’ll keep feeding him.

Hopefully he has no additional setbacks this year, and next year he’ll be back to that workhorse role.

Need it to happen this year though. Swift has killed me and Saquon is starting to fade. :kicksrock: #noonecaresaboutyourteam

Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson "feels good" about Travis Etienne's availability for Week 13.

Etienne missed most of the Jaguars' Week 12 win against the Ravens with a foot injury he sustained in the first half. He returned to the sideline with the foot heavily wrapped but did not re-enter the game. Pederson later said Etienne was cleared to return to action but the team exercised caution with their emerging superstar back. Pederson said Wednesday that the team wouldn't rush Etienne back. Fantasy managers should watch Etienne's practice participation closely in the coming days. JaMycal Hasty and Darrell Henderson would likely split backfield duties in Week 13 against the Lions if Etienne is out. Pro Football Focus grades Detroit's defense as the tenth worst run-stopping unit in the league.

Not sure I'm totally buying Etienne being ready for Week 13, and even if he is, he could be limited.

If you're looking to handcuff, who are you pivoting towards?

Hasty got the bulk of the work and did OK in the passing game, but that was also with Henderson not yet active. Not sure it's that clear with an out/limited ETN.

I'm sensing Etienne trending up and I believe he will be good to go with an excellent match up with the Lions. Etienne solid RB #1 for week 13. Lawrence trending up, Kirk very good, and add Z Jones. Now let's go Lions and create a bunch of fantasy points for both sides. Maybe Swift will get my bench a few points lol.

If Etienne is full practice by tomorrow, I think we can be more comfortable. Absent that, have to make preparations.

Yep, I certainly agree and I was a bit more concerned. My plan is who is to sit two once I learn everything I can (Stephenson for sure, Etienne, Wilson Jr., Kamara, and Pacheco). Hoping Etienne is good to go then I can decide on the other one to play.

My preparations are Bam Knight, Jaylen Warren or Kyren Williams

:oldunsure:

From Pederson's comments it sounds like ETN will be fine

agree it comes down to getting a FP in but I'm equally comfortable with that being either Thu or Fri

The day after: "ETN going to be OK"

watched Pederson's presser yesterday - "feel good about (ETN) his chances of playing Sunday....gonna be day to day, want to make sure he's 100 percent"

So if ETN is out, how do we think the work is divvied up?

Really think Henderson would have a big role, as Pederson talked up his downhill style when they picked him up, and Hasty has not been that great as a rusher. In fact, if Hasty and Snoop were getting the job done, not sure they even would have picked Henderson up.

listen to the link I posted, Henderson is the next topic. sounds like it's a lot of different terminology and rn they are just going to have a subset of plays for him. wouldn't think his usage will be significant if ETN is straight.

That's the only thing - Henderson isn't a downhill runner. He's got phone booth quicks. Peterson might not know what guy he just picked up.

Travis Etienne (foot) is questionable for Week 13 against the Lions.

Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said earlier today Etienne is "good to go," so the questionable tag shouldn't scare off fantasy managers. Etienne left Week 12 with the foot issue but was cleared to return and only stayed on the sidelines as a precaution. Though he may not get a massive workload while dealing with the foot issue, 15 touches should be an easy bar for him to clear. He enters a great matchup with the Lions as a borderline RB1.
