Rhamondre Stevenson has 20 RYOE on the SEASON.

This is both true, misleading, and taken out of context all in one tweet. That's a rare trifecta.

Henderson until this past game was last in the league in RYOE. By a lot. Stevenson wasnt good here either. But he was 2.2 yards BETTER than Henderson was in RYOE (+0.4 vs - 1.8).

Henederson got 93 ruh yards over expected on two take it to the house runs. The last (huge) run was sprung by a devastating block. It really didnt have much to do with Henderson. Yes, his speed allowed him to score on a breakaway play. But it was not due to Henderson juking people out, running anyone over, or driving the pile back.

I am not dissing Henderson here. His job is to get in space and turn on the jets. That's what he did. ANy NE back has been terrible running up the middle. That's not on the running backs. That's on the OL. And McDaniels has adapted by calling plays to the outside and not up the middle. Those plays work better for Stevenson, too.

Meaing, we all know Henderson has breakawy speed when given the chance. And he showed that here. He also was good in pass protection. BUt the week before Maye was sacked 6 times with Stevenson out. Henderson is a rookie, so he will have some great plays, some mistakes, and some bonehead plays, Because that's what rookies do.

I sitll see Stevenson playing a ton when he gets back. But Henderson certainly has more upside for NE in that he could score on any play. I still for the life of me don't understand why McDaniels doesnt call swing passes, wheel routes, or put him in motion to get him on a backer, or run quick slants or underneath crossing routes. Those to me all scream CHUNK PLAYS.

Agreed. I am a big Treyveon fan but these "over expected" stats have become all the rage recently and this just shows how truly dumb it is that those stats have become so commonly quoted.

That was 75 yards "over expected" on that one play alone. But it's a total judgement call. To me, that play was 0 yards over expected. It was perfectly blocked. Heck if anything he had poor vision on that play and ran into his own lineman. Most NFL RBs should/would have scored on that play imo. I don't want to say it's a dumb stat. But it's a very very low value stat that is completely subjective and is way overused.

Not any other RB on the Patriots 100 percent and very few RBs in the league have the juice to house that.

But there was great blocking, and Henderson kept running. But not initially because of Henderson. Get it? Maybe another NE RB would only get 40-50 yards instead of 70. That still would be much more attributable to the blocking than the RB.

Just like a QB that tosses the ball 3 feet on a shovel pass gets credit for a 70-yard passing TD on essentially a handoff. Yes, it counts as a pass. Yes, it jacks up his YPA. But let's not go crazy that the QB threaded the needle on a three-foot handoff that only a true HOFer could make. Again, Henderson did great on that play. Not knocking him at all. But RYOE isn't really intended to track breakaway scores. It's more to indicate getting something out of nothing. Grinding for yards that weren't there. Breaking tackles. Juking people in the backfield to get 6 yards instead of a 3-yard loss. I get it, yards are yards, but going the length of the field untouched isn't really what that stat is meant to be reflective of.

The Rookies made 3 big plays against a pretty good defense. Plays Stevenson or Jennings don't make. And frankly, I don't give a shiot about RYOE. TD HENDERSON!

Just seems this board is constantly making excuses for poor performing players (no blocking, he sucks as a RB but they keep giving him carries because he's great in pass protection, he just needs more touches to get in a rhythm) and when Henderson has a breakout game, there are people still talking him down. Not saying you are doing that, but seems a constant theme.

lol, dude. Henderson did something so few in the entire league have done, in their entire career in one game. He bounced outside the stuffed up blocked and made that run his own on the last TD.

It's coaching malpractice. Running the fastest player on the team up the middle incessantly is not to be understood. Some play callers make it look so easy, and understand how to utilize talent. I don't know if it's ego or density, but others just ignore what is right in front of them.

I'm going to push back on that just a little. The Pats "FB" definitely made the key block sealing the edge but the "single handedly took out three Bucs" thing feels overblown. Those Buc players were bunched up and, maybe one of the had a shot at getting Treveyon at that point. I think if the Pat "FB" stayed upright and continued to push his assignment down field we would have seen the same outcome.

This is what most of us have been saying all year. It falls on deaf ears. None of the RS haters want to believe he’s good at football things that Hendo isn’t.

Stevenson is way better at the things coaches want, except for fumbling.

Vrabel and the coaches have decided that Hendersons positives don't out weigh his negatives and rightfully so. Maye is the key to this offense, not Steveson and not Henderson. So if they have to sacrifice a possession, and some big play ability to keep Maye healthy and happy then it will be done.

Hopefully Henderson learns those skills, then the sky is the limit.

It's just crazy because Henderson was supposed to be one of the best pass pro backs in the draft and it's like once he got drafted he forgot how to. Either that or the scouts are clueless. Thought for sure this guy would be on the field a lot. It's almost like the team already has a bad taste in its mouth with this guy and he may never get a legit shot.

It might just be take lock on my end but I feel like Henderson is just too talented not to succeed. If Achane can be a stud at his size I see no reason why Henderson can't eventually do the same. That's where I am too. Nice fantasy game, but he didn't do much to suggest this is the beginning of some huge run. This was just a volume/TD based good game. Less Rico Dowdle, and more Kareem Hunt.

ETA: He'll be great as long as Stevenson is out, and the Bengals are next week, so that could be another multi-TD game.

I had a bad fantasy night going up against him. The Jets are much, much tougher and stronger than people think and they'd be winning games if they had a semblance of a QB. I mean, just a guy that even stood like one. That called a cadence like one?

But yeah, that was tough sledding. They did it to Quinshon also. They're not great, but they're kind of at least functional.

I do think Treveyon is a star. That Tampa D is no joke, either, and he ran all over them. And fast. I get tonight was a low YPC night, but YPC is a bad measure and he's tough and he flies. I'd love him on my team.

This is pretty good. They're going to be good, but being a Jets fan I have to say I came away not too impressed with New England. I don't know. That was definitely a tough game and the Jets are a tough, fighting team with trenches a lot better than people think, but they're a few years away and it should have been NE in a walk tonight.
