Very few team rushing attempts this week, but got the TD to salvage his day. Feels like a riskier play next week for anyone still alive. I may not have a better option in a start-2+ RB league.
On one hand it’s a very weak RB draft class but on the other hand it’s a loaded RB FA class so I think it’s 50/50.what are this young man's chances of being the #1 RB in Minnesota next year?
I think 60/40 but certainly competition. Vikings have holeswhat are this young man's chances of being the #1 RB in Minnesota next year?

Internet has them middle of the road in cap space for next year so I assumed they were in decent shape.Vikings have no money for FA RBsOn one hand it’s a very weak RB draft class but on the other hand it’s a loaded RB FA class so I think it’s 50/50.what are this young man's chances of being the #1 RB in Minnesota next year?
well I'm sure they are going to have to spend a majority of whatever cap they do have on a QB, whether its Cousins or another FA QB. That has to be the biggest priority you'd think.Internet has them middle of the road in cap space for next year so I assumed they were in decent shape.Vikings have no money for FA RBsOn one hand it’s a very weak RB draft class but on the other hand it’s a loaded RB FA class so I think it’s 50/50.what are this young man's chances of being the #1 RB in Minnesota next year?

At the #NFLCombine I asked Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell about how he views his RB room heading into 2024. Watch the whole clip. Sure sounds like Chandler is the guy you want to me. @rotoworld_fb
Mattison cut. Is Chandler the guy? Any buzz from the locals?
They do but he couldn't even make the active roster last year and they were scrounging for RBs.They also have McBride who they bothered to spend a draft pick on last year and have signed to a futures contract. Probably a nobody but had some mega production in college and was quite well thought of pre draft last year.
Lot of nice comments in that article from O'Connell, but the key is whether he's excited enough to give him 15-20 touches a game or just 5-8. What they do in free agency in a few weeks will probably go a long way towards answering that.Mattison cut. Is Chandler the guy? Any buzz from the locals?![]()
The Vikings are 'really, really excited' about Ty Chandler
"I love where Ty is at. Going to be a big offseason for him. Really, really excited about Ty."www.si.com
For now Chandler is all they got.
Expect the Vikings to add 2 RB in free agency or draft.

I can see that, although with the glut of FA RBs, they might not need to invest much and still get a high quality addition that would dent Chandler's upside.Yeah well so far Chandler has been their hand picked guy.Lot of nice comments in that article from O'Connell, but the key is whether he's excited enough to give him 15-20 touches a game or just 5-8. So was McBride though and the decision to make Mattison the starter after observing him for a whole year.
They need 2 more RB. They won't invest much though so Chandler will get his shot to be the guy.
It is unlikely that anyone will be better than Chandler.Yeah well so far Chandler has been their hand picked guy.

When that happens, then the situation will change. But for now, Chandler is the bestI can see that, although with the glut of FA RBs, they might not need to invest much and still get a high quality addition that would dent Chandler's upside.

I would sell Chandler for a 2nd round rookie pick in a standard dynasty league and not think twice about it.When that happens, then the situation will change. It's your choice. The way I look at it is this, even if Chandler stays their starter, how long will that last? I like Chandler, but I don't love him and make no mistake about it he is replaceable. Getting a 2nd round rookie pick for him now is maximizing his value in my mind. Of course someone will be dumb enough to trade a 1st, but that is an outlier. It's your choice. Maybe it makes sense to keep him in the starter a little longer? The way I look at it is this, even if Chandler stays their starter, how long will that last? What does "a little longer" really mean in the NFL? My guess is that one season or less constitutes "a little longer" in a lot of cases. Just ask Alexander Mattison.Maybe it makes sense to keep him in the starter a little longer? The way I look at it is this, even if Chandler stays their starter, how long will that last? 100% agree. Chandler is a deal sweetener or a guy to deal for a 2nd rounder. No reason to think the day 3 draft pick going into year 3, is anything special. Also think he benefitted from having fresh legs late in the season, dude had 49 carries until the last month of the season.I think Chandler is the perfect guy to use to trade from the late 1st (1.9 - 1.12 range) to the 1.04 or 1.5 range in start 1qb leagues. So that would be the 1.09 - 1.12) + Chandler for the 1.4 - 1.6. Thoughts?

Everything they have done including offensive line decisions has been to improve their passing game at expense of their ability to run the ball.I'd pass no matter how much I needed a RB.I think Chandler is the perfect guy to use to trade from the late 1st (1.9 - 1.12 range) to the 1.04 or 1.5 range in start 1qb leagues. I know KOC talked him up the other day but I believe his biggest frustration on the offensive side of the ball since he took the job has been the lack of a strong consistent running game. Chandler finished the year ok but I don't think that the Vikings have reached a point where they think the answer they've been seeking was always right under their nose.
They threw $21m at Josh Oliver to try and help improve the running game.Everything they have done including offensive line decisions has been to improve their passing game at expense of their ability to run the ball.
You're joking right? They threw $21m at Josh Oliver to try and help improve the running game.Everything they have done including offensive line decisions has been to improve their passing game at expense of their ability to run the ball.

That's a weakness of his game.
Probably not, but why not stash until you have to make room for your rookie picksDoes McBride have a new lifeline now in Minn?
He's probably as done as Marlon Mack, but you never know. They probably will cut him.Does Cam Akers reemerge and impact the scenario?
After a 2nd Achilles injury that seems unlikely.Does Cam Akers reemerge and impact the scenario?
They’d already paid Mattison starter $ so he wasn’t going to play much without injury or prolonged performance issues. I’m not sure how to think about the Akers trade. Seems like a bad sign, but how could KOC pass on a late 2026 draft swap for an impact guy he’d already coached?I’d proceed with caution on the Chandler front.
Remember, it basically took a Mattison injury for Chandler to even be able to play meaningful snaps, and we just saw what the Vikings think of the former.
I think between the dropped passes, fumbling, and inefficiency running the ball, one could easily argue Mattison’s entire season was a prolonged performance issue.prolonged performance issues
Agreed. Mattison stunk last year and the team stuck with him way too long.I think between the dropped passes, fumbling, and inefficiency running the ball, one could easily argue Mattison’s entire season was a prolonged performance issue.prolonged performance issues
I think we’ve probably seen the last of Akers. 2 achilles injuries, team that drafted him has given up on him and he’s had multiple issues with his coach. He’s one big red flag.Does Cam Akers reemerge and impact the scenario?
Yeah, he was a freebie end of season pick up and IR stash for me in one FFPC league who is at the very edge of my entire bench. Something literally magical would need to happen between now and cut down to even make him close to keepable at this point.I think we’ve probably seen the last of Akers. 2 achilles injuries, team that drafted him has given up on him and he’s had multiple issues with his coach.
