RBs to Exploit-Avoid Week 9 (1 Viewer)

Peyton Hillis – His rush stats the past 3 weeks are 10/28, 12/41, and 16/69 with just 1 rushing TD over those 3 games. He does chip in as a receiver but he’ll have his work cut out for hi against New England. Certainly he should not be a top10 candidate this week.

I would like the critics to share where you even get this pasted next to a guy's projections or ranking week in and week out. I don't rank guys 1 thru 50 because 1st of all that would just be doing what FBG already does, 2nd it really doesn't tell you anything. I say Hillis won't be a top 10 this week because I believe when I open my MFL stat sheet on Monday and hit week 9 from top to bottom that Hillis will not be top10.

About every RB outside the top10-12 down to about 25+ is separated by just a few points. Look it up and tell me I'm wrong. That is why I have him bolded in black. I didn't paste him in red which is where I typically will put someone if I think they won't even crack the top20-25 or if it's a usual stud I think will have an especially bad day like I did with Chris Johnson once or twice this year.

Maybe I need to refresh why this thread is done but it's to stimulate debate and discussion about different RBs. I understand most owners don't have their choice every week who to start but I compete in about 10+ leagues and almost all these guys are on a roster somewhere as they are for many of you.

Cheers!
But MOP.......What do you think about the NFL fining people for hard hits??????

I don't understand the people ragging on MOP in this thread. How can someone complain and/or accuse him of being lazy with his list? Are you kidding me? He does this with his own free time and ONLY DOES IT FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE COMMUNITY! He gets nothing out of this! I have at times taken exception with some of the things MOP has said in various threads, but calling him out for taking time out of his day to make these posts on a weekly basis is beyond ridiculous.

very

Seems to me like the Bears Rush defense is starting to get underrated, especially if Briggs is back and plays the entire game. Their pass D is a bit overrated tho. Bears D just needs the offense not to set them up behind the 8-ball all game long. Maybe that is asking too much, but against the Bills pass rush(or lack there of) and coming off a bye you've got to hope they'll look better for at least one game.

Hey Steel and Quim/Qim,I appreciate the criticism and I don't mind questions. But if you were to read the posts last week I was pretty worked up about Stewart being ranked so high. I warned most. I had people all but forcing me to try and make Felix Jones a green light which I wouldn't do. How did those situations work out for everyone? I am not always right but almost every time this year when I post "don't chase points" the RB that has a huge game the week before comes crashing back to earth or at least falling to the middle of the pack. If the Bucs can walk into Atlanta and establish the run they are going to win the football game because Josh Freeman will have plenty of leeway to make plays at that point. I love that kid and think in another year or two he will be at least as good as McNabb was in his prime, maybe even better. Tampa Bay is on record as saying they wouldn't trade Freeman for Matt Ryan straight up as welll as many other GMs right now. But here's the thing...I don't think TB is going to win the football game this weekend, I don't think they will be able to establish the run, and I don't think they will be able to stop the run. Against good solid teams like Pitt and NO at home they were outscored 79-19...what's Atlanta coming off a bye week going to do to them after they went toe to toe with AZ in a 38-35 thriller? They are spent this week IMO. When you can't stop the run your sklil position guys are riding the pine for long periods of time. How many carries do you really believe Blount is going to get? I would put the number at somewhere in the 12-15 range tops because TB is not going to be closing the game out. When they fall behind 14-3 they are going to take to the air. Everytime a RB has a surprise game the Shark Pool or folks that post think they have find buried pirate's treaure. When a back up QB comes into the game we all hit the :X button but when it's a RB and in this case the RB3 really then we start :lmao: And as far as being lazy I understand why you are saying that but it has nothin to do with my OP. I type up about 7-10 pages in MS Word every week. Each week I do a mini term paper and there isn't a lot of double spacing going on. It takes me several hours just to gather up stats, facts, and ideas so I can formulate what I want to put down on paper. All in all I think it probably takes a minimum of 6-8 hours to complete one of these. I don't do it for money I never have, I don't do it to look like a genius cause usually I don't, I do it because I like this place and the posters in general. Even when folks think I'm mad and bothered I really am not. Even the hawks are gracious enough to let me post over at the cag:e: and invite me to some different threads and games in the FFA. All in all I think I get treated rather well in here. What I have't done much of the past few weeks is post a lot after I am done with the OP. Mainly because this is not a WDIS thread and I look for others to answer questions that different folks have. I post enough in the OP, no need to post another 29 of them in the thread. Many times when people ask questions I feel the awnswer is already there but I also want people to think for themselves some fo the time. Now when I see outrageous proclamations and projections I tend to speak up but I also am entertained by some of the logic that is produced. If you don't feel like reading the thread that is your choice. I don't mind the criticism but it's easier to swallow if I know what you all are thinking as well. I can put up Blount's numbers but TB RBs most of the season have left owners with a warm feeling that use them. It was Kareem Huggins for a little while, then Blount who disappointed majorly the 1st time out earlier in the season. He had a good game last week, terrific. But when I see someone say "premier" back in an elite system (COUGH COUGH) we have different definitions of the terms premier and elite when it comes to RBs. I do wish you the best of luck this weekend. Maybe we can debate a few more players. I welcome the feedback and maybe other folks feel as you do.
 ...answered with dignity and class...as usual...keep up the GREAT work MOP

Nobody is ragging on MOP ... and I am sure that he does not expect everyone of the thousands of people who read this post to agree with every word he writes.

I look forward to this post every week and I just felt it didn't have the feeling that MOP typically puts into it. It's called critiquing and think MOP expects it and probably looks forward to it.

You may very well be right about Blount this week ... maybe he won't have a good game but your argument is putrid and that is why I think your opinion is biasedFirst off 12 -15 carries should result in decent to good numbers.

To say he is RB3 is just silly and uncharacteristic of you. He is clearly the best RB on the team and a very talented one at that.

And finally... Blount had already had 2 very good games out of the 3 games that he had played this year so his game last week was really not that much of a surprise.

PIT a pretty damn good Run Def and his 1st NFL game ... he had 6 rushes for 27 yards (4.5 average) and a TD

Cincy ... He carried 4 times for 3 yards ... not good but are u really going to judge a guy on 4 carries?

STL ... At the time considered a very stingy def ... 11 for 72 yds (6.5 average) and had about 60 yds called back for 2 penalties.

ARZ ... a terrible run def 22 for 120 and 2 tds (a 5.5 avg) ... He did what good rbs do.

If I started Blount last week, would it be okay to start Blount this week, since I wouldn't be "chasing points"?

Hey Norse,I am not a big Blount supporter today. In fact if TB has to throw it a lot Cadillac might actually end up with more points in PPR. I say that because his pass protection is better than anyone on the team and that's mainly why he held the starting role for so long. Also FBG dosn't have him ranked in the top20 either. I did start looking at the Vegas lines yesterday and they have Atlanta as a 9 point favorite on some bords and these teams are both 5-2. What does that tell you? They are begging you to take Tampa Bay and that smells like a big TB wipeout today. So I'll ask you the same question I have posed for others who think my logic is "putrid". What do you really expect today from Blount assuming the Bucs get beat easily today?I would say the percentage chance of Blount having another top10 week against Atlanta is maybe 10-20%. I hope I'm wrong since many of you obviously need the points, but I have to be honest about how I feel and also what I know to be true. You haven't seen tons of Bucs fans piling on me about it either, that should tell you something. I did just about all their game recaps for the 1st 5 weeks of the season too so I haven't just been reading box scores. Good luck to you and anyone that rolls with him today. If he can go into Atlanta and have his way with the Falcons I'll be mighty impressed.

MOP, nice work as always.. here's a few to chew on.PHI game. I agree with the LeSean points, I think what might be interesting is what Vick's numbers are this week... I wouldn't be surprised to see Vick have more rushing yards than McCoy this week.... something to watch. As for the BUF-CHI game.. I think Forte may be a better start over Jackson and here's why. From a rushing perspective, Jackson has had 20/64 and 23/73, compared to Forte 10/41 and 8/11. Jackson has been getting more touches, but the YPC haven't been as effective. Jackson is avg'ing 3.1 YPC, the avg for BUF is being helped by Spiller(6/17 and 7/33) and Fitzpatrick (6/43 and 4/20). Spiller's YPC is 3.8 and Fitzpatrick is 6.3. While I don't see Fitzpatrick getting more carries, I can see an argument starting to give Spiller upwards of 10 carries and thereby reducing Jackson to the 15-20 range.I agree CHI is HORRIBLE in the rushing area. The thing with Forte though is his receptions and screens have the potential to go the distance with his speed. At this point, I have to think CHI goes in planned for this meeting and will seek to exploit the BUF defense in the short passing screens to the RBs. To me, this upside gives Forte the nod over Jackson. If anything, I am thinking Forte has the potential to have another huge week here.My 2 cents....

Assuming you had to choose between Arian Foster and Bradshaw, who would you pick?I love both and Foster is my clear cut starter, but I can't ignore the tasty match up Bradshaw has against Seattle and the tough match up Foster has against the Chargers. I am a big fan of always starting your best players, but this is a tough call.Any thoughts? And yes, I am fortunate enough to also have Peterson, so he is my #1 this week. Don't ask about my WR's....
What a nice problem to have. Bradshaw will not have an easy go of it in Seattle. Foster is s explosive and even if San Diego can win the game this still could be a 28-27 shootout. But I think both are nice options to have today.

trying to decide between Donald Brown @ PHI or Brandon Jackson vs DAL
Why no love for Brown? He's the only RB left really and the Colts will run every now and then. I think he can get a cheap TD too.
It's not like I hate him but he couldn't keep Hart at bay until he went down with an injury. Out of those 2 backs that are presented I kind of like Jackson better this week at home and against a failing Dallas defense. Not by leaps and bounds, just would be the guy I would insert. And I usually am wrong so play Brown with confidence

D.Brown vs. Best? Anyone?I know, blatent ACF...
Blatant ACF is right, but I'd go with Brown, solely because he won't be sharing carries with anyone, while Kevin Smith will likely take some from Best. Neither is a great option unfortunately.

thinking Ivory may have a decent game today vs carolina...any thoughts ?
I like him especially once they have the lead. New Orleans seems like an easy pic to win this week by +14 at least. Usually that means more carries in the 4thQ. Those saying Bloumt with 50 yds and a TD...That's 11 points in most of my leagues and pretty meh.

If the Bucs get blown out I see Blount going 13 for 55 with a td.
That's right about what I would expect
So if Blount scores a TD no matter the yards you feel vindicated today? He had 120/2TDs last week, I bolded him in black not red and you used the words putrid. I think he needs to clear 20 points for you to really spike the ball today, yes/no? Other wise what we're we debating about?30 minutes before kickoff, don't back down now soldier :D

As I posted originally...LaGarrette Blount – I say it all the time but it is worth repeating…don’t chase points. Atlanta is only giving up 95 yds rushing at home on the season. They have made major strides since their early season lack of run support on defense. Blount was impressive last week in the desert but if you are thinking 120 yds and 2 TDs this week you’re nuts. Blount and the Bucs will be bottled up pretty good this week.

Serious Q

Have you had Hillis in Green at all this year?

I have CJ3 and Benson on a team.

Guess which two weeks I started him?

Yep, today and whenever Benson had a bye week.

Left points on the bench a lot, and couldn't move him for good value.

Gonna start him the rest of the year now, but wish I would have had the balls to have started him all along.

You'll come around on Hillis, dude's legit

Not at all. Almost every back I bolded in red with the exception sof Ronnie Brown was spot on. Black dosn't mean bench, not sure why I would need to feel bad. People questioned Jackson over Forte but in PPR he was good for about 14, twice as much as Forte this week. We can bump Hillis but do you guys all send Joe and David a refund application eveytime they miss on their weekly rankings? Doubtful. No one is perfect, and I have nothing to hang my head about. I think I even posted I wish the Hillis' owners lots of luck this weekend. Have nothing gainst the guy but his rush numbers the past 3 weeks were not inspiring and he was facing a hot New England team. Glad for those that cashed in. I'm very comfortable with what I post on a weekly basis and I never hold my head down if I whiff which I didn't call for Hillis to lay a turd on the board. Blount owners and pushers is who I would like to hear from. It's one thing to say Blount won't repeat but it's another when I tell you th Bucs fall down 14-3(Fell behind 14-0) and the actual reasons why Blount will likely have an off week...which originally I was accused of being lazy...let's get real folks, I can smell the beer breath brewing in here.

Urge people to ignore the ones you got wrong, but go ahead and call out people for the ones you got right.Valuable stuff.Regards,THE FANTASY KING

... so you consider your greening of Fred Jackson a hit then?
Not so much Bonesman but he wasn't a total flop in PPR either. Several questioned hs green over Forte in that match up. FBG had him ranked 16th this week(higher than many), not many sites gave Jackson a chance this week. Granted he really didn't put it down and the TD and 5 receptions mask the fact Chicago pretty much sealed him up.

Bones,

Another back with an iffy night if not for the TDs is going to be Brandon Jackson...35 total yards roughly but 2 TDs in the 1st half.

Good stuff
