I would also like to say that Sooper Troopers is an outstanding movie involving marijuana. I think Sooper Troopers probably apeals to a far broader audience than a lot of other stoner movies.Another movie in that mold is National Lampoon's Going the Distance. I happened to see this on some random movie channel the other night and it was well worth it.

Crash - Meh. Seriously overrated. I don't see why it's so well regarded. It has one point, and bludgeons the viewer with it.
And I think Rachel McAdams may be at the top of my "it girl" list, even ahead of Johannsen or Theron. She's maybe not as beautiful as those two, but she is more attractive.

Has anyone seen The Big Fat Independent Movie? It's a spoof on independent films. Sounds funny, but haven't heard much about it.We rented Must Like Dogs the other night. It was ok, kind of your basic romantic comedy. The ending however was HORRIBLE! Very hoaky.

The Girl Next Door. Should have seen this ages ago. Elisha is Crash - Thought it was ok. Being a Canadian, I think it is just crazy that you can go into a corner store and buy a gun in the US. For some reason this movie had more of an effect on me in that regard than the Columbine flick.

awful. I turned it off halfway through. Just awful. I have to even wonder if either of these guys or the writers ever smoked pot at all. It was an insult to people who DO smoke weed. That scene with the girls taking a dump was painfully bad and the drive thru scene wasn't any better. just dumb. waste of my time and money.

I don't know that it IS that simple here anymore, but not owning a gun myself, I don't know for certain. I think the US passed a bill a while back that required a background check before a firearms purchase. somebody can correct me if wrong. Fair enough. I'm just basing what I said off the movie, which probably isn't the right thing to do. Just watching the middle-eastern shop owner sitting out in front of the locksmiths house, walking right up to him and firing off a shot is really powerful in my books (if that is what things are really like in some parts). It's hard for me to imagine having a real fear of my kid just going out into our front yard and there is the possibility that he may get shot. No, it is hard to imagine. Especially as a parent. And while I do think the movie made it seem very easy to get a gun, I don't think it's all that hard either. There's also an enormous black market for guns here. I imagien many of the crimes committed with hand guns are the result of unregistered guns procured illegally. That's just a guess.Fair enough. Most cities in the US have areas where crime is more prevalent. Poverty is a breeding ground for crime and there is too much poverty in America. Also, too many guns....IMO. A bad mix.

seems like a lot of ppl enjoyed saw, but to me, i thought it was hilarious...in a bad way.i ended up watching saw 2, and i thought it was a lot better than the original and enjoyed it.
i also enjoyed 'hostel' - seems like i was one of the few however.

I re-watched Last Supper for the 1st time since it came out (1995). Still a very good movie. You should rent this if you've never seen it.

Saw "Lord of War", and this reminded me of the style of "Blow". Good movie.Took a couple FBG recommends, and watched "Audition". The 1st hour and 15 minutes were enjoyable enough to keep my interest, but that last 15 minutes

Finally saw Johnny Dangerously..... very good movie.....United States of Leeland...... I saw all but the last 5 minutes of it. The disk I rented from Netflix crapped out right at the end. Up until that it was pretty good. Firefly... I just saw the first episode of DVD. It was good.....

hey Smoovy, it's funny that you just posted. I was just going to write about how I started watching Samurai Champaloo (I'm a fan of Cowboy Bebop) this w/e and I noticed your profile pic. I'm only on disc 2, but so far it's a fun show. The beginning credits are pretty sweet.If you liked 'Audition', you might want to check out stuff like "Suicide Club" or other Miike films, like "Ichi the Killer", "Visitor Q" or "Dead or Alive". Of course being a Miike film there will be a few scenes that are not for those that are sensitive to uncomfortable situations.Took a couple FBG recommends, and watched "Audition". I also started watching uh...Veronica Mars. Yeah, someone recommended it to me and I felt like I needed a change of pace from all the other stuff that I've watched. It's interesting and actually not that bad, but for now I feel like it's not my kind of show, go figure.

We watched Kicking and Screaming yesterday. I gotta be honest, I laughed a few times. I'm not a huge Will Ferrell fan, but I thought this was a pretty good role for him. I could have done without the self destruction route where he spirals out of control, but prior to that, it was a funny. Robert Duvall is one of my favorite actors and he was solid here.

Hustle and Flow. I have to say that my wife and I enjoyed it about as much as two white suburbanites could. I really thought it was a pretty damn good movie. The performance of Terrence Howard was really something. I really got into the characters and their world. It's not for everyone, but if you're willing to try something different, it's worth the time.

And I have all those movies that you mentioned. I love Miike films.If you like the girl from Veronica Mars, check out Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical. It's a remake of the old version of Reefer Madness, with musical numbers. MUCH better than it sounds. It's hilarious. Has the younger brother from Wings, Ana Gasteyer from SNL, Neve Campbell and others doing there own song and dance numbers. One of those you think would suck, but end up pleasantly surprised. Several laugh out loud moments.
