Lord of War - Had a lot of potential, but I didn't like the way it was narrated. It seemed like too much, a lot of the time. An interesting idea and all, but it seemed to be missing something -- I think it needed to be longer to fully tell the story. Not bad, but not great.

Finally saw Crash.

I didn't think I was going to like it from what I had heard about it, I usually don't get into heavy handed movies that try to push an agenda. Surprisingly though, I liked it. There were a couple scenes that were overdone, but on the whole I found it believable. Great performances throughout.

The Hills Have Eyes - Good flick. A few scenes are drawn out too long but overall, good acting, great filmwork, real good movie.

saw "The Interpreter" over the weekend

not bad. not great by any means but a solid rental. Sean Penn i really life and Nicole Kidman is always nice.

Finally saw Batman Begins. I agree with everyone who said it was very good, quite possibly my favorite of the series.

Saw The Hills Have Eyes this weekend...it was ok, and I didn't find it very scary. A friend had seen it the previous night, and told me in a trembling voice how messed up it was. Maybe I've been a bit too desensitized to horror or maybe he built up my hopes too much, because I was pretty disappointed. But I did think Hostel was much better.

Also saw Tsotsi, a south african film about a gangster told on a smaller scale. Outstanding film. I haven't seen all the foreign film academy award nominees, but I wasn't surprised that this one won it.

Walk the Line- I didn't enjoy it at all. I am only 23, so I didn't really grow up listening to Cash, but I thought he was cooler than that. I thought he was actually a bad ###, but he made it all up. He was really a druggy loser that cheated on his wife. Way to much of a love story, although Reese Witherspoon was nice

I Robot.... sucked. It was the suckiest suck to ever suck.

The Hills Have Eyes..... I thought it was good. It took me a while to figure out but the dad was the guy who played Buffalo " PUT THE ####### LOTION IN THE BASKET" Bill from Silence of the Lambs. The main problem I had with this movie (and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake) was that they are filmed too Hollywood. The originals had the aura of snuff films or home movies. These are nicely editied, produced and reek of big budget films. I think that takes a little away from the overall scariness of the films.

Mirrormask..... I thought it was well done. When all is said and done its nothing really more than a modern day Wizard of Oz.

I liked it. Watched "Fever Pitch" over the weekend. I liked that one too. I never thought Jimmy Fallon would be able to actually act. But he pulled it off. And Drew wasn't as annoying as she usually is.

Finally saw Signs - M Night's worst film IMO. Also watched Road to Perdition which is an incredible movie that is vastly underrated. Perhaps Tom Hanks best work.

I thought Signs was good until the last 15 minutes..... Road to Perdition is awesome.....

About to throw in "Domino" with Keira Knightley. Will report back in a bit.

-fe
Well....I had been looking forward to this for about 3 months and it really was "meh". Disjointed and not the smoothest of films, but Keira Knightly is topless and just hawt so that alone makes it worth the price of a rental.-fe

Also saw "A History of Violence"...

:sigh:

highly disappointed. The story is way over-the-top and the acting is really ho-hum. Bummer.

I've been on a string of "should be good-to-decent" movies:

-Ice Harvest

-Domino

-A History of Violence

Forgot all about "The Weather Man" with Nick Cage. One of the 5 worst movies I have ever seen. There were 4 of us watching it and we all agreed that we couldn't finish it. It was that bad. Story went nowhere, characters were boring. Oh and not often a movie discusses a 12 y.o.'s "camel toe", I kid you not. Avoid this movie!

Yeah the William Hurt oscar nod really left me  .
Agree. I had trouble not laughing my ### off during his scenes. Unless that was the point of the character?

Two for the Money (Pacino & McConnhey) was just awful. I can watch just about any movie but this one really sucked.

You never cared abotu the characters and there isnt much of a plot or payoff at the end. Just Brutal!

Employee of the Month (Matt Dillon) was pretty good, not bad for a rental.

Manchurian Candidate (Denzel Washington) was on cable. Never seen it before. It was a pretty good flick, worth a look.

Memento

Big

About a guy who has short term memory loss after his wife was murdered and he goes about his life by making himself notes and taking pictures so he can remember things he needs to in the future. The way the movie was created is very unique and really does an excellent job of telling the story as the main character might see it. TONS of plot twists with some good subtle humor thrown in occasionally. I'd never heard of it but it was recommended by a friend. Great movie...wife even liked it....very good thriller.

:goodposting: Love that movie.

Recently saw "Closer".

One of the angriest flicks I've seen in awhile.

Jude Law and Roberts had very good chemistry, but I didn't quite get their relationship.

I can see why the Brits wanted Clive Owen as the next Bond, he's very intense.

Domino= Whatever

Weather Man= Avoid

History of Violence= Good movie, hated the ending
Tried to warn you, only like 11 posts prior. Want those 2 hours back? Or did you not make it that far? Terrible movie.-fe

I saw the Grudge(the remake) and I thought it was very well done. I'm not a huge fan of the PG-13 horror movies (The Ring, 6th Sense, Dark Water) but I thought this movie was pretty freaky.

Just saw 40 year old virgin. Good, but holy ####, does a comedy have to be 2hrs and 13min long? The answer is NO!
Endlessly quotable. You framed an Asia poster?.

Let's get some effing french toast
Very true, but just too damn long. Steve Carell is gold with his lines and delivery. I really like the boos lady, she was funny. #### buddy and wants to take a vaccation in her house and just get baked. :lmao:

I love that movie too. I was excited about it after I first saw it, and recommended it to everybody I know. My parents tried watching it. My dad said "It was okay" (which is what he says to everything I recommend), and my Mom said "What was going ON in that movie?" Not for everybody, I guess, but great nonetheless.

Just watched A History of Violence

Well, I shouldn't really say I watched it, since three quarters of the way through I just started fast-forwarding to the end. I was really looking forward to seeing this but it was one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. Ridiculous story, horrible acting, almost unbearable beginning waiting for the actual story to begin.

I can't stress enough how bad this movie is. It's a giant piece of crap. I have no idea how Ed Harris got nominated for best supporting actor.

AVOID!

The Weather Man

Now Im not sure if I want to rent this.
 I thought it was really good. I may just keep it past the Blockbuster rental period and purchase it.
It has some really funny parts. Cage's character's commentary throughout is probably the best part. However, the ending sucks.

Never made it to the ending. I usually like Nick Cage. Loved Lord of War. This movie just felt like it didn't go anywhere and the characters were uninteresting to me. And the 12 y o's camel toe did me in. And I loved Bad Santa.... Worst movie I've seen in a while. To each their own though.

I just finished watching this movie this afternoon. I was really looking forward to it, and I feel very cheated. The story sucks and defies all logic.

Crash=   would have been better if they spared the corney montage music. Usually the music is cool when the movie is ending, but it seems it went on for half the movie. Also, I don't give much credit for movies, stories, comedy, etc, that are based on prejudice. It's played out and unoriginal.

Jarhead=   A few funny parts, no action at all. Good insight on the life of a soldier, and how lame and boreing it is.

Deuce Bigalow European Gigalo=   :bag: Watched the first half, it sucked, went to sleep, put it in the mail. The first one was funny, but this was bad.
