Big Lebowski

Big fat ZERO. There was nothing I liked about this movie. It wasn't funny. It wasn't "twisty". It wasn't symbolic. And it wasn't in the least bit interesting.

This movie is now #2 on the list of "movies other people love but I don't see any possible reason why they do" list. #1 being Pulp Fiction.

If this is truly many people's favorite comedy, I weep even harder for the world's future.

I hated this movie. Noexplode!!1! glll pease, etc.
 Obviously you're not a golfer.
#1 being Pulp Fiction.
Don't agree with your thoughts on The Big Lebowski...but I am with you on Pulp Fiction.
He was right about one thing though. That rug really tied the room together.

Pretty much wuth you on Lebowski. It was alright but I don't get the gushing praise. However I really liked Pulp Fiction.

Gushing praise for Lebowski is probably inappropriate even for people like me that like the movie. It's a quirky comedy - not some blockbuster comedy that appeals to all tastes.

Condemned - Entertaining flick with Steve Austin. Nothing special, but it entertained me.

Cocaine Cowboys 2 - Not as good as the first, but pretty interesting.

Disagree. One of the better horror flicks in the last few years. Relies on claustrophobia rather than the creatures in the cave. No cheap cliches and keeps you guessing. What did you want from it?

Either take the creatures out entirely, or give them a larger role. This was a movie that couldn't figure out what it wanted to be. The perfect example of this was the ending. What the hell was that about?

dale> The Bank Job was decent enough. goes by pretty quickly. doesn't try to be too much. there is nudity in the intro which is nice :lmao:

i'd give it a solid 7/10

Shooter - 7.5/10

It may simply be a case of my expectations weren't very high going in, but I came away very entertained by this movie. I even caught myself sitting straight up on the couch at one point because I was so engrossed in the action. The ending was a little weak but I couldn't think of any better way to resolve it so I can't blame the writers.

If you're looking for a fast paced action flick then this movie should satisfy.

watched code 46 last night with tim robbins and samantha morton. kind of interesting futuristic - in a "gattaca" kind of way - love story that touched on some of the themes of "eternal sunshine of the spotless mind". not great but kind of interesting film. it had its moments even if they were few gripping ones.

the mechanic (not the machinist  )...

contract killer film by bronson & pre-thrown through a windshield jan-michael vincent...

thoughtful & above average genre work... they don't make movies like this anymore... in the first 20 minutes or so while he was stalking his assignment, there was no dialogue, but it never seemed slow... i miss movies like that (i think rafiffi? had a long scene without dialogue during the caper/heist)...

:banned: Liked it a lot back when I first saw it.

What were you guessing about?
mytagid = Math.floor( Math.random() * 100 );document.write("First of all the title, The Descent. Are they referring to the descent into the earth or the main character's descent into madness? Based on what we were presented, its entirely possible she imagined the "creatures" and murdered her friends herself. She had the motive for at least of them, the one her husband had a crush or or had slept with. You didn't know which characters were going to stay around the longest, something that is usually easily determined in horror films. Also, the ending was open to interpretation, but slanted to the fact that she didn't escape and died in the cave.*** SPOILER ALERT! Little Children - Excellent writing and excellent acting. Disturbing plot line. Avoid if you don't like slower movies or narration.

Watched Felon last night on the innternets.

Good flick.
Got it ready to go for tonight.
I really liked this movie. Seemed to be a very realistic view of prison life... of course I'm just basing this off what I've seen on documentaries like Lockup and Raw. This movie should do very well once it comes out. 4/5
Saw this yesterday. A little too far over the top in a few spots and a predictable plot but watchable/interesting in parts. I do think the theme of being put in prison for something you basically have little to no control over is interesting to a lot of white males.

Stop-Loss

Dont waste your time. Movie just ####ed me off. PLus it was difficult to get through the first 30 minutes. Just a lot of forced, cheese acting. ONce he gets stop-lossed, it gets better. But, it still never got good.

Watched Step Brothers on line

Thought it was hilarious.

"your voice is like a combination of Fergie and Jesus"

Have you seen the documentaries on National Geographic? I thought the movie was right inline with them.

could be. i know i don't want to go to prison, that's for sure. wardens torturing prisoners/adding to their sentences for NOT fighting prolly doesn't happen imo though. but yeah, it's not that far-fetched and could be within the realm of possibility i guess. that really didn't detract much it was just that it was a pretty predictable movie. even the "plot" at the end to expose things was pretty generic. pretty much just a point a, to point b, to point c movie. definately watchable though. just depends on what you like.

Vantage Point 7/10

Stretches the idea of "suspension of disbelief" to the breaking point at the end. But all in all a very sufficient thriller.

Cool concept of showing the events from different points of view. Definitely worth a rental.

Val Kilmer was outstanding, but overall I thought the movie was like an old ABC "Afterschool Special" with some blood and swear words thrown in.As for the "white males" thing, being put in prison for something you didn't do is a common fear for all males regardless of color.

I debated whether or not to put this in spoilers, so I guess it should be there, but come on...

 Was in the "OK" category for me until the end, and then turned into the  category.

eta: the different point of view thing has been done much better, although not in quite the same to-the-second kind of way.

You guys want to watch a cool prison flick? Rent the low-budget "Blood in Blood Out: Bound By Honor." Some terrible acting, but a fun movie all around.

I liked this movie a lot.
Is it wrong if I laughed out loud a couple of times during that movie?
Meaning because it was funny or because it was bad? It was supposed to be funny in some spots.
Well, I was thinking: "We need to talk" = :ptts:

"You seem like a nice guy" = :lmao: :bag:

Search this thread for my review on this. The title doesn't just refer to the descent into the cave but also of the protagonist's descent into madness - hence the ending.

A Woman Under the Influence

Meh. This is a famous 1974 Cassavetes film. It is so well-acted and so bare bones it's almost like a documentary. But ultimately, I didn't like or care about anyone in this movie.

Wow. I just looked him up on IMDB and I haven't seen any of his movies aside from Influence.
"killing of a chinese bookie" is the only one of his films that i enjoyed.
