Locke:

Loved the idea, look and feel of this movie. Hardy is a businessman that has to go take care of something that is going to change his whole life. We are trapped in the car with him as he fields phone calls and witness his life changing. Doesn't sound like much, but it was impressive how tense the filmmaker could make the situation just using this technique. Something held it back from me loving the movie as a whole, but i think a lot of the regulars in here will get something out of this movie. 7/10. One thing that I could have done without:

Cinema Verite

Posting the review of Enough Said made me think of this film again. Everyone knows that James Gandolfini was amazing as Tony Soprano. But I urge you to watch Verite. The guy is so subtle and so at ease with his abilities. Just truly amazing. Compare this role with the minor roles he played in Get Shorty or True Romance, and it's hard to believe it's the same actor.

So unbelievable. I just rewatched Killing Them Softly just to see him again. I got to see him on Broadway in Gods of Carnage, like about 8th row or so. I don't think I took my eyes off him, just to see how he reacted to the actors around him. And Jeff Daniels and Marcia Gay Harden are no slouches! He was just so interesting. What a loss.

It's a drama about a depressed guy with a weird wife who he barely speaks to.

Question: do you want to see a 'realistic' portrayal of the boring lives of vampires?

Cyrus is more subversive than Enough Said. And if you put, oh say, Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn in Enough Said, it'd be much closer to a traditional romance movie. But Gandolfini and Dreyfus elevate the material to a much higher level.

I liked Enough said, but it's interesting in the fact that it portraits JLD as a woman who has a good thing going with Gandofini, but she has to find something to F up the situation . It's like she cant be happy without any drama.

I enjoyed Chef, but it was pretty cliche.

I really did not like the first half of the movie at the restaurant. Both Dustin Hoffman and Scarlett Johnanssen were wasted in their parts. Plus it made no sense.

But the second half, after they met RDJ and got the food truck, that was an enjoyable movie. lots of fun their trek back to California. And the video made me

Budapest Grand Hotel... yep... that was a Wes Anderson film.

I enjoy his work quite a bit for the ruthless visual approach- everybody framed in the center with victorian doo-dads filling the rest of the screen. I always enjoy looking at his films (great use of color too) and always enjoy the quirk of the characters and writing. Thought Ralph Fiennes was fantastic here.

That said, the quirk factor in the writing (macro and micro) and character development also limits his films to me- making them all feel pretty slight at the end of the day. Love watching them, but aside from the visuals, not a lot to take away; nothing in these things to make them transcend to the next level for me.

I like the concept and it was pretty well executed. It just wasn't anything special. I hoped for more. Wouldn't watch it again.
