Watched "Walk The Line" over the weekend. I'd recommend it, enjoyed the music. Music was so simple back then, it was kind of refreshing

Not great, but good. Unique in that it mostly deals with the tedious waiting that some of these soldiers have to endure.

Omen: Decent, but I dont see it as a horror movie. Freaky but not scary.

Feast: Popcorn movie. A decent campy, B horror flick. Lots of gore. LOTS. Some funny lines. Could have been better but not a bad way to kill an hour and a half, especially if you do a few bong hits beforehand.

I don't agree that, as a rule, old movies suck. But there are some definitely overrated films from previous decades. I saw "Five Easy Pieces" last year, and was thoroughly unimpressed.

I don't agree that, as a rule, old movies suck. But there are some definitely overrated films from previous decades. I saw "Five Easy Pieces" last year, and was thoroughly unimpressed.

Me too, I didn't like it back in its day. Just a lot of Jack Nicholson being a dimwitted smartass, if that's not a contradiction in terms.

Thank You For Smoking -- I was a little disappointed. I thought it was going to be funnier. It was pretty good, I did laugh at parts, and it did a decent job of showing the hypocrisy of everyone involved. I just can't help thinking, though, that there's a better movie in there dying to get out.

Playing by Heart -- This is another one where I thought there was a better movie in there somewhere. The movie is an ensemble cast (and a great one at that) where everyone's stories eventually intermingle. Its just not pulled off very well. The characters are not really believable and not that interesting. Nothing they do or say would ever be done or said by anyone except in a movie. Angelina Jolie was great, though.

The Day After Tomorrow -- For some reason, I was able to ignore the inherent silliness and stupidity of this movie, and just enjoy it as a mindless disaster/action movie. I liked Armageddon, too.

That's a good way of putting it. It was a great idea with lots of potential, but they didn't do all they could with it.

The Break Up - 5/10

It might have scored a little higher if the ending hadn't been so completely atrocious! As soon as we saw the credits roll we all looked around at each other in stunned silence. My brother in law quickly grabbed the remote and wondered out loud if there was an alternate ending....sure enough there was....sorta. It was basically the exact same ending but filmed in a different location in Chicago.

The first hour of the movie was just awkward because it was almost too real. I felt uncomfortable watching them argue. The movie picked up as it neared the end and had some good laughs but then they dropped that nightmare ending on us.

Skip this rental.

I thought it was incredible how real the fights were. That was the best part of the movie.

x 2TDAT was a pretty good popcorn movie and I can't believe how big of an issue the right-wing talking heads made of it.

And Emmy Rossum is he only thing that made The Phantom Of The Opera (movie version) even slightly tolerable.

Auto Focus...... Meh. With Maria Bello in it I thought there would be some nice nudity...but that didn't happen. It's an alright look into a C list celebrities pron addiction. Kinnear did a decent Bob Crane imitation, but I was excpecting something more deviant and sleazy.

The Saw II....... It a'ight. I knew both the surprises in the SAW movies before I saw them so I wasn't like, "OH DAMN!" when they broke. It was decent. The problem with this one was it was too ambitious. The first was nice...two men chained in a room. The second a little more contrived. I don't understand why none of the fools in the second didn't try to open some of those boarded up windows or bust through the plaster of an exterior wall. I know, I know..suspension of disbelief...but the great horor movies don't use that as an excuse for weak character decisions or deus ex machina remedies. If I were to rank the new horror movies.... I would go...

THE GRUDGE (Honestly, the freakiest movie I've seen in a long time)

I know that I am late to the party, but I just saw School Of Rock.

Very good movie.

Jack Black was way over the top, and that was what sold the movie. The kids were excellent.

However, it was somewhat disconcerting to see Joan Cusack as the stern principal. I can remember her when she was the student in these types of films, like "My Bodyguard", with her frizzy hair and braces. Or "Sixteen Candles", where she wore a neck brace.

Watched "The Breakup" last night. I know it didn't do that well, and didn't get great reviews, but I enjoyed it. I think people were expecting more of a comedy, but I thought it had genuine emotion, and that it was pretty well done.

but started watching BSG (battle star galactica) season three & just got caught up on mini-series & season one... season two to follow...

i like sci-fi but the acting & writing are good enough to tanscend the genre... i've always liked james edward olmos since miami vice... he can carry a show on his shoulders with his presence...

as situated within sci-fi genre, some of the most compelling material i have ever seen... highly recommended...

also,

kansas city confidential, an intelligently plotted noir... netflix has been a revelation... the depth of their title catalog/library is incredible... i have many titles i've wanted to see for years but blockbuster didn't have, weren't in cable TV rotation, didn't necessarily want to buy to see once... i can't believe i didn't join a lot earlier...

I saw Thank You For Smoking this weekend, and it was excellent. Probably the best movie I've seen this year. If you like political humor, this is a must-see.

Saw Queen of the Damned...... I don't know why. It was pretty bad. I liked Interview With the Vampire but this was pretty sorry. The Queen really had no point in the movie except to just dance around, talk sultry and blow vampires up. The part I thought I would hate the most (that with Lestat as a rock Star), turned out to be ok. Tell me the books aren't like this.

Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise: This movie was very non linear storytelling but I thought Cruise was very good and the story very interesting. It was kind of sad in parts and confusing in others but that was the intent I guess. I'd recommend watching it.

Blade III Trinity: Much better than the second one. Good cast too. Very watchable.

Auto Focus...... Meh. With Maria Bello in it I thought there would be some nice nudity...but that didn't happen. It's an alright look into a C list celebrities pron addiction. Kinnear did a decent Bob Crane imitation, but I was excpecting something more deviant and sleazy.

I've seen this a couple of times now, and I like it a lot. I think Willem Dafoe deserved an Oscar for this film.

Saw a sneak of Borat ... with PID last night. Really funny. Almost too many jokes. There is one scene that is so shocking that it's still hard to believe I actually saw it. If you like Borat and his bit, you'll love this movie.

While it was simplistic in its portrayal of race issues, for some reason I kind of liked it.And Jennifer Esposito and Thandie Newton are...well...you know...archived in the memory banks.

Poseidon - Most people have probably seen the original. This remake isn't bad. It really didn't need to be made and I wouldn't recommend it, but it was worth watching nonetheless.

Derailed - A co-worker raved about this Jennifer Aniston/Clive Owen thriller. I had never heard about it. Fairly obvious twist but still worth viewing. Jen looks very hot in it. Wait for it on HBO.

Just saw it and it was not what I expected, though slightly above average.Story = good, started slow and got better by the end

Photography = great, incredible scenery

Fighting = lame (how many times can you watch knives thrown from great distance that bounce off things, stop spinning in mid air and strike someone through the heart, without thinking - give me a break?)

Return to Paradise

Very good movie. Three guys enjoying life in Malaysia. Two guys leave to go back to NY, third guy is apprehended by the local authorities and sentenced to hang...unless the other two guys will come back to accept responsibility for their "crimes". Will they do it??

A tad draggy at times, but all in all very suspensful. I thought I knew several times how things would turn out, but I kept rethinking things until the very end. Always kept me guessing.

I liked it.

Maybe it was the fact that I was watching it late at night while my 3 year old daughter was complaining about having a sore foot, but I was very disappointed. A few chuckles, but not really any major laughs. Guess I was expecting a lot more, but then I didn't care for Anchorman or Dodgeball so much and should have figured this one wouldn't fly with me either. Oh well, worth a shot.
