Saw this recently and liked it, as well. On the other hand, I finally saw There Will Be Blood, and while I thought Daniel Day Lewis was great, I thought the movie itself was just OK.Charlie Wilson's War

John Leguizamo Freak-Apparently it hit the hbo cycle this weekend. Saw it while flipping channels. Man, this was one of the very best standup shows I've seen. It was the story of his childhood. His story telling was amazing. His timing, his accents, etc. Brilliant. 4.5/5.
One of the best stand-up's of all time IMO.Saw this at the midnight movie at my favorite Chicago theatre. Absolutely hilarious and awesome."Teeth"
If you enjoy horror mixed with some dark comedy and some serious social and religious undertones...watch this film...but do not invite any kids.
Don't read up on it...don't even look at the box...just rent it, sit back and be horrified in a whole new way.
The wife and I watched this last night and really enjoyed it. One of the finest scenes in a movie I've seen in quite some time:mytagid = Math.floor( Math.random() * 100 );document.write("Charlie Wilson's War

Yup.Glad I didn't pony up the dough to see this crap fest in the theaterWas that one of the Horrorfest movies?Poorly scripted, poorly directed, horribly acted. How did humanity's stupidest become the last survivors?Watched Tooth and Nail
Um, just awful.
i have been a fan of sarah polley's work as an actor since her work with atom egoyian on projects like "exotica" and "sweet hereafter". she's superb in "guinevere" with steve rea. i was surprised that she got the reins on a project like "away from her" but not surprised by her ability to get good work from actors. munro would be proud. iAway From Her
Excellent movie about an older couple coping with alzheimer's. I loved this movie. Very smart, and beautifully filmed. I can't say enough good things about this movie.
julie christie.watched soderbergh's indie project "bubble" and was disappointed. it's one thing to work with unknown actors with their sort of unfinished take on the roles. it a different matter altogether when the script doesn't give them much to work with. could have been a very interesting project but felt half assed.Christie is lovely in this movie. And Polley's direction was top-notch. Amazing that Polley is a new director, as Away From Her is masterfull. The Sweet Hereafter is one of my all-time favorite movies.saintfool said:i have been a fan of sarah polley's work as an actor since her work with atom egoyian on projects like "exotica" and "sweet hereafter". she's superb in "guinevere" with steve rea. i was surprised that she got the reins on a project like "away from her" but not surprised by her ability to get good work from actors. munro would be proud. iAway From Her

I know that movie watching is a subjective experience, but did you really rate 27 Dresses over No Country for Old Men?Loan Sharks said:27 Dresses - Your wife will like it and decent. 3/5No Reservations - Your wife will like it and its ok. 2.5/5We own the night - Pretty good movie worth renting 4/5No country for old men- Am I the only one who didnt like this movie? i think i have mentioned in this thread before about how much i dig egoyan's work. "exotica" is one of my favorite films and "sweet hereafter" is a happy marriage of banks (a favorite novelist) and egoyan. i liken him to cronenberg. maybe his only off note was "where the truth lies".The Sweet Hereafter is one of my all-time favorite movies.

I like that movieWatched Junebug this weekend. Here's a friggen tip for producers/marketers: IF IT IS NOT A COMEDY, DON'T FRIGGEN BILL IT AS A COMEDY. Jesus effing Christ.I wouldn't say that the movie sucked. Actually, yes. Yes I would. Fuuck Junebuck. #### it right in the ###. There was nothing redeaming about it. Except for Amy Adams.

D'oh! I knew I would run into some folks here who did. I just can't get past the fact that it was a horribly depressing movie. Look, I was ready for what I was getting with Schindler's List and Hotel Rawanda. Maybe I could have fealt better in Junebug if I didn't feel ambushed. I had flashbacks to the horrific My Girl from high school.I like that movieWatched Junebug this weekend. you'll be very disappointed with it. if you haven't seen "felicia's journey" then give that a try. "ararat" is solid as it kind of touches on some subject matter that he explored with "calendar". #1 This ratings also include my wifes opinions#2 I inately favor comedy over what was NCFOM? A slasher flick? #3 2.5 out of 5 is average, my wife thought 27 dresses was really good and made it a 3 above average. I thought NCFOM was "ok"#4 NCFOM I thought was cinematically, and visually excellent I found the mop headed loser indiscriminately killing people for no reason tedious. I guess the fact that he had a silencer on a shotgun and cow stunner was supposed to be really cool or something. Also the ending was thouroughly unsatisfying. #5 27 Dresses was what my wife ordered, a amusing light comedy romantic girly movie. NCFOM was supposed to be a masterpeice and I don't think it lived up to the hype. I didn't identify with any of the characters they all did some stupid things to move the plot along I thought the random fate intertwining angle was forced at times. #6 I can see how some people would like NCFOM but it is not my favorite genre. #7 If you have a date and you have to watch 27 dresses with them or NCFOM go with 27. My wife had no idea what was going on in NCFOM.I know that movie watching is a subjective experience, but did you really rate 27 Dresses over No Country for Old Men?27 Dresses - Your wife will like it and decent. 3/5No Reservations - Your wife will like it and its ok. 2.5/5We own the night - Pretty good movie worth renting 4/5No country for old men- Am I the only one who didnt like this movie? I am going to be brutally honest here - after reading the last couple posts I would seriously think about getting a new wife. If you don't want to go to that extreme and are good with secrets, a movie mistress might be a good alternative too. No secks needed per se, just somebody that will watch and enjoy a good movie now and again.I watched Buying the Cow this weekend it was a video that was given to me some time ago and I never watched.
I was suprised that this nondescript comedy was actually pretty funny at times. Especially if you like Ryan Reynolds antics, also Alyssa Milano plays a stripper.
Wifey thought it was hilarious.

I almost replied with a big red X to the post above that says if you have a date, see 27 Dresses instead of No Country for Old Men, but I restrained myself.I love it when I/You/We are right.[rain] Watched Once again... this time with the wife. A complete non-movie aside... got tickets to Patrick Stewart in Macbeth for Mom's Day- going next week and I can't wait. With a lot of theater friends and family, I got pretty jaded about theater by the time I was done with Grad School... I haven't been this excited about seeing something since True West with Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Charles C Reilly swapping roles.

the reviews have been fantastic for the production and stewart. you should have a great time. i saw him several years ago in a production of "the tempest" as prospero. julie taymor did the costume and design elements. it was maybe the best piece of broadway i have ever seen. totally memorable, especially with stewart owning the text, character and stage. totally jealous as "macbeth" is my favorite shakespeare.A complete non-movie aside... got tickets to Patrick Stewart in Macbeth for Mom's Day- going next week and I can't wait.
