I watched IT2 the other day. I thought it was good. At least true to the book. Endings were not Stephen Kings strong suit. And the movie goofies at the end. But thought it was good.

My next will be 1917, I believe.

That audience score for Die Hard is what’s really shocking.  Who doesn’t like Die Hard?
That's why I started poking around with other titles.   I would guess the start of most people's 'best action movies' lists would be stuff like Die Hard and T2.    This does not compute.

This goes back to my original question. Garbage as in it’s awful to watch or garbage in it’s just ridiculous and lacks taste?
Yes.

Me personally, especially for genres like action and horror, I have a multitude of tiers and usually judge within those tiers.    One for movies that are just plain good/great,  one for movies that are "purposely" bad, one for movies that are so bad they are entertaining, and one for movies that are just crap.

Off the top of my head, examples of each would be:  Die Hard, Starship Troopers, Face/Off, Transformers 2.

After watching again, I think that Face/Off is a bad movie on all fronts, but it's bad in a way that I can still watch it and laugh, but it still shocks me that it is rated so highly.

The demographics say if you post here, you will really like 1917

You didn't know that Face/Off is the most critically acclaimed action movie ever??!!
I saw that in the theater when it came out. So cringeably bad. And lol...you nailed the face touching thing. I would much rather watch Battlefield Earth than this steaming pile. Who am I kidding...BE is a guilty pleasure of pure camp.

On a different note... mostly through The Trial of the Chicago 7. It seems be getting some best picture buzz, but I'm not sure about that (but I'm also not sure there's one that I'm that high on from 2020).  Good writing from Sorkin, and great cast (Sacha Baron Cohen is a standout as Abbie Hoffman, and Mark Rylance great as always).

I'm just not sure there's anything that is particularly memorable about it and transcends it to greatness, which is my feeling of most of Sorkin's stuff.

I still need to watch it but everything I’ve heard seems to paint it as blatant Oscar bait

Yeah - that seems an appropriate description of it.  Free speech message seems the kind of thing that Oscars eat up, but pretty bland telling at the end of the day.

you dont get better than Mark Rylance actingwise, but he missed on Kunstler. I idolized the man, but it was because he had the biggest balls ever. cold-blooded lefties are rarities and i'm told Bill would fairly slap folks with the truth til you could blow on them and they'd fall over like in comedies. the ability to menace others with reality is the highest calling of humankind and there may have been no greater practitioner. probably unplayable, but Rylance not being up to the task really hurt a fine piece.

I'll need to read up more on Kunstler.  Before my time as an attorney and don't know much about him apart from this film.

I’m telling you, this was a runaway hit. People just ate it up. There’s probably only 2-3 year window where Face/Off could have been released and gets that kind of universally positive reaction. It’s especially weird for critic who presumably has already seen Hard Boiled and The Killer which have Johh Wu doing all this John Wu stuff already. The critics legit were captivated by the storyline and performances.
I assist in face lifts and to this day I refer to them as faceoff surgery. Best part is every one knows what I am talking about and all find it funny.

Judas and the Black Messiah - I was really looking forward to this movie and have to admit - I was worried I'd be disappointed. I wasn't. It was great.

The acting is terrific. The story is just an emotionally draining journey. Its extremely intense. Its great.

I watched After Midnight on Shudder. It was a fun valentines day movie. Old school creature (guy in a monster suit)which I am a fan of.

How many quotes will it take without googling for people to guess which movie my wife and I watched last night? First time for both of us- nice light romantic comedy about two totally normal teens falling in love. I loved the #### out of this one.

F—— me gently with a chainsaw

I use my grand IQ to decide what lip gloss to wear in the morning and how to hit three keggers before curfew.

I shop, therefore I am.

They all want me as a friend or a f—-. I’m worshiped at Westerburg and I’m only a junior.

That movie is big fun.

Seems like I try Goodfellas every few years or so.  I think I like it slightly more each time, but the v.o. still drives me crazy.   I wanted to watch The Godfather last night, but it wasn't on any streaming options.
