Jurassic World was decent. Lots of down time, but a few times that made all the ladies in the theater jump.
I don't have allegiance to the old movies because I've only seen a few minutes of them. So I didn't have high expectations. But I thought the movie was very entertaining.
Surprised you haven't seen the originals. The first one was really well done and incredible for the time. I find it funny that the quality of on-screen CGI does not really seem to have improved much since the original. I presume they can do better but from a cost perspective good enough is better for the studios.
I liked the new one too, much more than I thought I would. But,

for me, I am really bothered by the fact that it is being sold as the type of film you can bring the kids to but then some of the violence was absolutely horrific. Particularly the scene where the pterodactyls attack the crowd. The woman gets pulled up, tossed around, thrown into the water only to be brutally attacked again only to get eaten by the...whatever the hell that was...in what can only be viewed as a merciful execution at that point. Stuff like that is nightmare inducing. It was gratuitous and unnecessary and a scene like that should be reserved for films with R ratings.
Then again Jaws was rated PG...and it still freaks me the #### out.
