One of the better movies of past two years. You cast the Hemsworth role right and you have a major hit.Rush
Good movie about Formula 1 racing. Kept my interest throughout. 8/10
So sorry to hear.James Horner, composer of more of my favorite movie movie music than even John Williams, died in a plane crash last night![]()
Sure he plagiarized others a bit and himself liberally, but it always really worked, IMO.
Star Trek 2/3, Glory, Braveheart, Legends of the Fall, Apollo 13, and yes Titanic are all great.
I know that Guardians of the Galaxy is lightweight. But really, if you look at how many terrible, dull big budget movies that get released every year, Guardians deserves some credit.I also liked Fury.jdoggydogg said:Pretty much agree with this word for word.I watched Fury recently. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it - nothing amazing or unique but highly entertaining throughout. I put it firmly in my top 5 most enjoyable movies from 2014, even though I am getting a bit tired of "gritty-hero" Brad Pitt.
Watched Guardians of the Galaxy. Not much more you can ask of a movie. Won't ever be a "classic" for me, but no reason to rate it any less than 8/10.
I still think the ending killed this movie. So silly, especially:jdoggydogg said:Pretty much agree with this word for word.I watched Fury recently. They go out of their way at the beginning to show the realism of war as the newbie has to scrape a face off the inside of the tank. However, Brad Pitt takes 2 grenades in the tank and doesn't have a scratch? and of course Shia gets the one German willing to risk the lives of all the guys in his troop by letting him be at the end.

I couldn't get past the Chinese lady's thick accent. Especially since her brother spoke perfect English. While she was the one working in the US for a hedge fund and he was working for the Chinese Government. Just makes no sense at all. She was easy on the eyes tho.Saw Blackhat
Many films start off well and limp to the finish. This actually started off mediocre but had a better second half. Overall it was in the average range.
I'm about a half hour into this and totally agree with the "uncomfortable comedy / absurdly funny" call so far. Will finish it up this weekend, but can already tell it's worth recommending.I was wondering if I overrated Bad Words back when, but it seems to have played well here. Really liked it, and unlike KP, I don't care for tremendously uncomfortable comedy. This felt absurdly funny and fair from the beginning.
Not sure if I reviewed this yet or notSaw Blackhat

.... but I thought it was mediocre most of the way, maybe a slight uptick at the end as it developed the story. Worth watching, though, since there's usually a ton of crap out too. You're right about the accent and the rest.I couldn't get past the Chinese lady's thick accent. I agree that the cinematography gave it an interesting feel. It was better than I expected.Walk Among the Tombstones - pretty much like anything Liam Neeson is in. The guy just effortlessly nails his roles. There were some disjointed plot holes but I suppose that's to be expected in a novel adaptation. But this held my interest, had some creepy and interesting characters and I enjoyed the cinematography.
I thought the first 80% was very good and the last 20% outright stunk.Gone Girl.
I have mixed feelings.
shootout in the beginning had my hopes set high. Rest of movie just decent. Was entertained.I agree that the cinematography gave it an interesting feel. I might be with you. Right until Doogie got jacked i was enjoying it. I would have preferred that the whole thing was their scavenger hunt and they were in on it together. That would have sicker.I thought the first 80% was very good and the last 20% outright stunk.Gone Girl.

i enjoyed this movie a lot...he was a guy who did his job regardless of how hard it was ...the inner conflicts were interesting...his need to protect was what fueled him ...such a sad ending for such a great soldierI just watched it and thought it was good, but not great.American Sniper C Really tried to detach my politics from it, but I couldn't.
But even if I had, The movie just wasn't that good, disjointed, over the top enemies, and the acting was bad (Cooper was OK, though his accent was awful).
And in the middle of a very intense firefight, he decides to call his wife. That would be like Jim Bowie stopping fighting at the Alamo and writing a letter to his wife.
come out and plaaayaaaayThe Warriors is just starting on the Sundance channel, going to have to watch.
made love to my GF while in florida until the sun came up while listening to this soundtrack...probably the most romantic sex of my lifeThe Braveheart soundtrack is one of only a handful that I own, and every time I listen to it, I feel like I'm a Superhero and I can take on the world. So sorry to hear.James Horner, composer of more of my favorite movie movie music than even John Williams, died in a plane crash last night![]()

Teen Wolf
All of them hit the spot.![]()

Watched Sniper last night and enjoyed it as well. Some of the personal story in the beginning was a little cheesy but once they get into it, the rest is pretty solid. I had expected a little more but it was worth watching. 3/5i enjoyed this movie a lot...he was a guy who did his job regardless of how hard it was ...the inner conflicts were interesting...his need to protect was what fueled him ...such a sad ending for such a great soldierI just watched it and thought it was good, but not great.American Sniper C Really tried to detach my politics from it, but I couldn't.

I really want to see this. Looks funny as hell.Dope (9/10) - IMO this is a classic. Nothing really like it but it was kind of a black Superbad.
Charlie Day's whining ruined the first one. The rest of the cast was OK. Haven't checked out the second one.Horrible Bosses 2.
Just as good as the first. I love these movies. 9/10
