Jaws and Double Indemnity will be shown in June/July respectively across the country for a couple of showtimes!
Dammit, on Father's Day for Jaws. Probably not cool to see a movie by myself that day.Jaws and Double Indemnity will be shown in June/July respectively across the country for a couple of showtimes!
Your mother's #### stinks like carpet cleaner.Barfly was my college version of Caddyshack- watched it over and over with friends and quoted the #### out of it. Still love it.I've been saying that for so many years.rockaction said:The Hustler really is a great movie, and it's not just great because it's part of the canon or something one should like. It's great because it's empathic, tragic, brilliant and eminently watchable, even today.it's such a terrific film. Newman does some of his best work in it. the cast is really strong across the board with terrific character actors in it. finally, i'll say that it has a lot to say about winning, competing and how it can consume people.fantastic![]()
I don't think I've ever seen it- definitely looks like I should.
and it makes me realize that one of my favorite smaller movies, Barfly, essentially ripped it off, or at least riffed it off.
eta* And I'd also like to see Barfly, which many of my friends recommend.![]()
Plays on Wednesday too.Dammit, on Father's Day for Jaws. Probably not cool to see a movie by myself that day.Jaws and Double Indemnity will be shown in June/July respectively across the country for a couple of showtimes!

Is it that bad? Looks like a good summer action flick, but then that's what the previews are supposed to do.Who came up with this tagline for San Andreas?
Taglines: A rescue pilot survived an earthquake, this is what happens nextDon't waste your money

Sounds right.I did (don't ask) and I'd give it a meh. I am very forgiving on these type of films (generally speaking) and this one was kind of forgettable. Some creative and fun destruction visuals but nothing really interesting happened. The good thing is it wasn't heavy handed with any sort of message like Day After Tomorrow, the bad news is the despite that it wasn't really any better than Day After Tomorrow.
just saw Jermaine on the subway the other day. What We Do In Shadows - I am in the camp that thinks the mockumentary thing has been overdone but gosh darn it this film absolutely nails it. The comedy style is in a similar vein as Flight of the Conchords (written and directed by Jemaine Clement) so if that isn't your thing well you probably have no soul for comedy. This is one of the most consistently humorous films I have seen in years. Definitely recommend.

I was jonesing for a fantasy movie, so watched 7th Son. woof. 7th piece of ####, IMO.
Ditto, watched on Saturday night. Did Jeff Bridges have a handful of marbles in his mouth the entire movie? Couldn't understand half of what the guy said.Leader: "What are we?"So many good lines:BAT FIGHT!!What We Do In Shadows - I am in the camp that thinks the mockumentary thing has been overdone but gosh darn it this film absolutely nails it. i caught this in the theaters when it came out. i liked it very much even if it is very slight. it's as much fun as it is funny. What We Do In Shadows - I am in the camp that thinks the mockumentary thing has been overdone but gosh darn it this film absolutely nails it. One of my reliable friends recommended it. I'll have to check it out.Ex Machina
I didn't have super high expectations for this movie going in, but I think I just watched a great movie. Excellent, smart script, good actors that I haven't watched a million times in other movies, and some great camera work. Ex Machina owes plenty to Blade Runner, but that's not a bad thing. Fantastic.

I don't want to hype it too much. It's a very smart movie, though. One of my reliable friends recommended it. I'll have to check it out.Ex Machina

her character is necessary but definitely something of a bummer on what is a lively movie.I watch The Hustler every once in a while. Great movie, but damn if Piper Laurie isn't the most miserable chick ever.
i think i knew that at one point in time. big fan of Albert Brooks personally. he's my kind of comedian.just found out today that Bob Einstein is Albert Brooks' (Einstein) brother.
yes- born Albert Einstein.
eta: lemme start over... just found out that Super Dave Osbourne is Bob Einstein, etc.
The action picked up but it remained right in the 6 or 6.5 out of 10 range. Good, soaked up 2 nights worth of TV watching while the wife was out. Won't ever watch again though.Maybe I was just completely too tired to be watching a movie but got about halfway through Transcendence last night and had to stop. I'll finish it up, but so far I'm fairly bored and find it too obviously preachy. So far it's a 6/10.... which on my personal scale would mean "enjoyable for the most part".

i'm kind of interested to see how she plays Lady MacBeth in the Fassbender version coming out soon.Saw The Immigrant.
Marion Cotillard starred as polish immigrant who arrives in US with her sister in 1921 and hardships/corruption she encounters. Joaquin Phoenix and Jeremy Renner also star. Pretty good. Cotillard seems to be good in every movie.
This morphed into an all emcompassing thread long before the old one got purged in the last update, it's all good.Soooo... is this an all-encompassing movie thread? Or just "rentals"? I've seen some stuff reviewed that's still in theaters. Not b*tchin', just curious... cuz I watched The Rite on HBO or Starz last night and it was pretty entertaining. 7/10
Anthony Hopkins as an exorcist training a skeptical priest-in-training, and Hopkins, after losing one of his "patients"...
becomes possessed himself. Some intense moments at the end of the flick.
I have fallen behind on my postings in here, but I really liked this one too. After Citizen Kane, I watched The Trial, The Stranger, and The Lady from Shanghai. I would put them in that order of what I liked the most to the least. The Stranger - 7.5/10
Apparently this is Orson Welles' least favorite of his movies. Well, his other movies must be really, really good because this one was very good.
Trivia: This was the first American movie to feature concentration camp footage.
Edward G Robinson is becoming one of my favorite actors.
ShockingSaw the Jurrasic movie tonight.
Total cheese fest.
Very disappointing.
Huh, and I thought a JP sequel about a genetically modified dinosaur would be a can't-miss.Saw the Jurrasic movie tonight.

Weird, I couldn't finish it.Almost all the way through The Equalizer and finally, something good to report.![]()
Denzel is just awesome in pretty much anything he does, huh?
Antoine Fuqua is a kickass director. Great movie. Need to finish the last half hour but it's a solid 8/10 for me.
Deacon: I think we drink virgin blood because it sounds cool.
Vladislav: I think of it like this. If you are going to eat a sandwich, you would just enjoy it more if you knew no one had ###### it.
