Redskins Getting Ruined By Media Today (1 Viewer)

Hey Jason, not sure where/how to submit this, or how feasible it is with this software, but could you guys look into making it so quoting a previous post won't include more than like 3 levels of encapsulated quotes?
It would also be cool if replying to someone did not automatically include a quote of their post by default. If the default was "include no quoting", and you had to click to add their quote, there would be far fewer posts with long strings of quotes that are not needed and obscure their point.

That's what the "add reply" button does.

Yeah, but if you're replying to a post that's mid-thread, you have to scroll down to the bottom of the page to use "add reply" which, based upon experience, people don't seem willing to do. The default "no quote" option seems reasonable.

Sorry about that fellas, this guy just wouldn't take the hint.

He backed up his argument. And what he said is accurate. Looks like the hiatus wasn't all that long. You're not having a good day of it, are you? :D
If anyone knows footballfan7 personally and can get a message to him, kindly let him know that the absolute fastest way to get yourself IP banned it to alert us to the fact that you've created a new alias in an attempt to circumvent a time out. Long Hiatus just turned Permanent.

Have a great one.
Woods, it's a shame you're getting such a big kick out of being the despot around here; your strength is in football analysis, not hall monitor. Now, I may have missed it somewhere in this thread, so I apologize in advance if I have, but Jurb26 dangled a STAT on page 1 that seems to have gone ignored:

Moss/Patten = 1635/12

Coles/Gardner = 1600/6

When do these numbers favor C/G???

He did the right thing. The guy was more interested in stirring things up than posting anything of value.

As for the stat, Woods said, and I agree, there is no gain with Moss/Patten. They are pretty much a wash compared to Coles/Gardner. I wouldn't call them an upgrade in any case.

maybe I missed that in my speed reading, but there seems to be a glee associated with "bannings" that seems childish, to me. With no numbers to back it up, I believe Coles is damaged goods and they needed to ship him elsewhere. His being signed to a huge deal was a mistake. Signing Moss to a big deal would compound matters as he is a one-dimensional guy who doesn't like to mix it up. Not what they need. Patten? This is a case of Danny playing GM. Gardner? Never lived up to his draft position. Adequate WR, but may be better off elsewhere. Good enough and cheap enough to not need to cut if nobody trades for him, though. The Skins should hold tight at #9 and if Williams is there, grab him.

You missed something, the guy was being a jackarse. And my guess is that the mods get tired of dealing with the likes of him, as opposed to discussing ff which is what this board is for...a free board I might add.

Hey are you guys talking about me?I really hope not because I am not FootballFan7 (sp?). I asked what I thought was a real question. I was ignoring the rants, but I was interested if Jason thought that the Redskins were better off without Coles, if they kept Gardner.

Geez, if you want, I can:

1. Provide you with a link to my FFL site where my team name Stinkbugs is prominently displayed, hence my "stbugs" id.

2. Let you call my commish, who was in my wedding, and he can detail the discussion we had working at General Electric back in 1995 where I came up with the team name because he didn't think there was such a thing as areal Stinkbug.

3. Provide you with a nice map of how close I live to Redskin Park and let you know that I worked with Darrell Green's brother in law and a close friend of some ex-Redskins.

4. Provide a picture of me at an ex-Redskin/GE golf tournament, where somehow we were the only team without an ex-Redskin. :(

Feel free to look up my posts and note that I signed up in December 2004 because this was my first year as a paid subscriber of FBGs. Note that I went to an Ivy league school and thus don't post in one long run on paragraph like FF7.

I really hope I wasn't banned because of some LHUCKS silly comment that he thought he was a super spy that uncovered an alias, because that would tick me off.

OK, I have said my peace, but please if Jason or any other moderator wants to confirm with me personally, please PM me, although I usually only come to this site at work.

BTW, if you weren't referring to me, please disregard this rant and I will crawl back under a rock....

Good, thanks. All I saw was LHUCKS (sorry LHUCKS) message below mine and I thought someone that I was that FF7 guy. I have only been posting here for a couple months and don't want my street cred ruined! To be honest, I was more upset about people thinking I was him, because I do consider myself quite eloquent. I even tried to turn the stupidity it into a real question by putting "Jason," at the top. :nerd:

[edited to add question again]

BTW, do you think Moss/Patten > Coles? Since I don't consider the other Redskin WRs reliable enough to count on, I think it isn't bad. I like Patten, seems like a hard worker and Moss could be as good as Coles if healthy, based on his 2003 time with Pennington (which I think was more productive per start that Coles in 2002?).

Yes, I think Moss/Patten/Gardner (if they kept Gardner) is a better trio than Coles/Gardner/Jacobs.Does that answer your question?

Moss/Patten is about the same as Coles/Gardner. I certainly wouldn't call it an upgrade after watching Moss have trouble getting open last year. Patten is more of a WR3 and is inconsistent in his effectiveness.Moss/Patten/Gardner would be more effective. Moss can stretch the field while Gardner plays a possession receiver role with Patten offering the 3rd option against the #3 DB can be effective. But Gardner won't be a Redskin next year. Once Gibbs has made up his mind he doesn't change it.Seems to me if they can draft someone like Williams or Clayton, that would be the best fit with Moss/Patten. Someone has to be able to catch the intermediate stuff while Moss is allowed to take his DB deep and perhaps tie up a safety long enough to allow a play to develop underneath or for Portis to add a few more yards from time to time. :2cents:

Absolutely, thanks. Here's hoping or maybe dreaming, that the Skins can compete with the Eagles this year. Not likely, especially if the do somehow decide on Campbell in the first. :X

We don't know right now because we don't know what Jacobs is capable of. He was injured in year 1, and then had to adjust to a new offense in year two which was nothing if not chaotic. I personally think he's an acceptable WR2 at a minimum, with an outside shot at becoming a WR1. He needs to get a shot before we can speak definitively on that comparison.

As a Redskins fan, I'm embarassed by this draft so far. :bag:
Agree completely. I actually like Rogers and that pick makes sense. He is a solid corner who was excellent in college and has size and speed and will replace Smoot very well. I think he will be better than Smoot, but the whole Campbell thing is a debacle. Giving away a 1st and 4th next year and a 3rd this year to upgrade from Ramsey to Campbell is a horrible deal. The only way they make it better is if the trade Ramsey for a 2nd.

I've hated this idea since it's been rumored earlier in the week. Then I got to thinking about it. I believe Ramsey is in the final year of his contract and hasn't completed a full season yet. If he performs well this year, it's possible the Skins won't be able to pay him enough to stay. If he plays poorly, they have absolutely nothing to fall back on either -- Brunell and Hasselbeck aren't going to take the team anywhere. Better to get a guy in that you and start grooming him early than have to scramble through another free agent debacle or draft a green replacement in the draft next year. Gibbs and co. obviously like Campbell and felt he was one of the best players out there. I'm starting to think it really was the best move. Ramsey will probably have to go regardless how he performs. Personally, I'd have dealt that 25th pick for a few picks further down and taken my chances on McPherson - but that really would've been a huge risk. No two ways about it. If this means they keep Gardner, they're not going to be in all that bad a shape at WR. A little help on the D-line would've really been nice...

LOL at people ripping Len Pasquarelli's column when it was 100% spot on. What's funny is that the Redskins IMHO really did nothing to improve themselves from a year ago yet. Rogers is intriguing, but he's not going to be any better than Smoot as a rookie. And Campbell probably isn't going to play, and if he does, again, he's a rookie QB.

Did anybody come out of today in worse shape than the Skins? I question if Gibbs has any control over BigBoyOwner. The only team Washington could beat in the NFC right now is the 49ers...and they at least did OK today.

:lmao: at many posts in this thread. But this guy was right.

As bad as Wash was last year, wasn't this still a team that was only 2 games out of the playoffs and really just 1 game down the stretch? The way the NFC is looking, I'm not so sure that a "win now" approach is all that bad of an idea. I also think it will be a bit surprising to see this team be nearly as bad in Gibb's 2nd year.
