Reggie Brown (1 Viewer)

There was an article in my local paper today about Reggie Brown and how he is regarded as the Eagles #1 WR. I know, most of you will laugh at that prospect but the article had some good points. The biggest being that he caught 43 passes for 571 yards and 4 TD's with MIKE MCMAHON throwing to him. That, and the fact that he is a freak when it comes to training and conditioning may make him a sneaky pick come August.

Here is the LINK

I'm one that believes Reggie Brown is plenty capable of becoming a solid #1 WR for Philly.

I've been accumulating him in hefty proportions in my early drafts.

Bass has got Brown at nice value so far for sure. His value will certainly go up if nothing substantially changes for that team prior to the season. But, his ADP will start to skyrocket throughout the preseason and even before that if no one else is brought in. Still, here's a guy you can get at a WR4 or WR5 price who will most likely be an average WR2 or terrific WR3.

Maybe it's because I play in leagues where WRs are gold, but Brown is most certainly not under the radar in my leagues.

I'd rank him among the top 4 WRs from last year's class right now, well above anyone in this class. Decent #2 WR potential in FF this year, long term potential to be a #1. (ETA: he's my #4 :D )

McMahon is underated. Its not like McNabb is that much better of a passer. That said, I expect a solid #2 WR performance from Brown next year, and agree that he is underated.

One pick before me in PDSL. :hot:

Do you think this is why the Eagles did not go after Eric Moulds more in FA?
Not certain - but I believe they thought his price was too high. You can never quite tell what they are thinking in the FO. Age was probably another factor.Look for the Eagles to draft a WR, but not in Rd 1 or 2.

Philly's top 3 targets this year will be Brown, Westy and LJ Smith. Gaffney/Pinkston/GLewis will fill in the WR2 spot.

I'm still hoping a vet will be added, but I am not holding my breath.

The problem I have getting too excited over Brown is that before Owens arrived, McNabb successfully spread the ball around to Thrash, Pinkston and Chad Lewis, among others.

I can see McNabb doing the same with Brown, Lewis, McMullen, Smith, and maybe someone else they add. And that's after Westbrook gets his.

I would guess that Brown will indeed be the best of the WR bunch, but he's obviously not Owens. Caveat emptor if you plan on taking Brown too soon.

I don't think anyone here is trying to go overboard on Brown. As always, I will keep a wait and see approach and see where he is falling in mocks. The price may be high, but we will not really know until summer when things start getting hot and heavy.

LJ Smith is another guy to target from this passing attack. He was on pace for numbers right around Chris Cooley's final 05 totals before McNabb got hurt, and that was with TO in the lineup.

Just curious what people are thinking about Brown after Day 1 of the draft has passed without the Eagles taking a WR. Moulds is in Houston and Walker is in Denver. Holmes, Jackson, Moss, Jennings, Stovall and a few others are off the board. The only significant veterans that are available are Lelie and Stallworth (both via trade). Whatever limitations Brown has due to talent, experience, and non-WR competition (i.e. Westbrook and Smith), you have to like his chances to be the Eagles WR1 even more I would think.

Is it just me, or is Brown one of the worst "#1 receivers" on an NFL team in recent memory? He was on Sirius NFL Radio yesterday telling the host "Yeah... I know I'm gonna be seeing a lot of double-teams, but I just gotta do my best to get open."

Double-teams??? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

He'll be lucky if the defense remembers to cover him at all.

I dunno that he'll be THAT bad. From what we saw last year, I think hes a more complete WR than Brandon Lloyd was for the 49ers last year, and Im not certain than Minnesota has any WRs better than Brown this year.

I keep looking at Reggie Brown and on one hand want to tweak him upwards in my rankings (currently 31st at the position). He is in a very good spot to put up fantasy numbers and I do like his talent and attributes for a top receiver.

However that said there are reasons I simply cannot do it at this point...

1. I keep flashing back to Nate Burleson of 2005. Will the pressure of being the man have an impact on him at first?

2. McNabb: I for one do not believe McNabb is that accurate as a quarterback. He completes a large percentage of his passes to the tight end and running back position and as Zamboni mentioned above, he does tend to spread the ball around (when T.O. is not on the field).

3. #1 Receiver... #3 option: I believe option 1 and option 2 this season will be RB Brian Westbrook and TE L.J. Smith. Reggie Brown should lead the receiver position but won't get enough looks to jump up into the strong starting fantasy category.

Yes, Reggie Brown is a worthwhile #1 receiver on his team (although inexperienced for that role). However he won't get enough looks to be a top-tier fantasy receiver.

In trying to answer my own question, San Fran's '05 WRs were the first group which popped into my head. Still, Lloyd is a better receiver. He was hurt mainly by having a not-so-good rookie under center.Re: Minny, I'd take a sober Koren Robinson over Brown.

agree for the most parthowever, 43/571/4 are nice stats for a rookie, especially across from T.O. for 1/2 a season. i didn't watch him much last year, but is there a chance that Brown is an exceptional talent and ready to take a significant step up?

just catching up on this thread..mcmahaon underrated? did you watch him in any of the games he started down the stretch last season? he was horrid.

if the eagles defense doesn't improve dramatically this season, they will be playing from behind quite a bit. this should translate into solid numbers for brown, LJ and even gaffney.

Wow... from your lips to God's ears!I really HOPE they forget to cover Brown. Playing on a team where they throw a ton - not to mention LOSING there WR#1 in T.O., why wouldn't you want to get a piece of the WR action in Philadelphia?

Perhaps the most overrated receiver in 2006 and dynasty for that matter.

What's his ADP compared to someone like Brandon Lloyd & Toomer? All are the #3 receiving options in their respective offenses (Westbrook, LJ Smith, R.Brown; Moss, Cooley, Lloyd; Burress, Shockey, Toomer)

 McMahon is beyond horrible. 45.4% completion % last year? When your completion % is lower than Shaq's Free Throw %, it's time to give it up.

I wouldn't assume he gets targeted less than LJ Smith, and there is a difference when he's the #1 WR option on the team.over the last 9 weeks last year (after T.O left), Smith was targeted 58 times, Brown 65, and Brown was a rookie.

i'd be more concerned about his % of targets completed.

Agree- McMahon is overrated just by being in the NFL right now. Anyone who watched the Eagles last year saw that.I am very intruiged by Brown this year. He is a big time athelete who is willing to work on his game. True, McNabb is not the most accurate passer, but he won't need to be P Manning here. This guy is the second most talented WR this team has had in McNabb era, and will likely grow into a nice role. The one thing people forget is how horrible the WRs were before Owens came on. Again, not to sound like a smart guy, but only Eagles watchers really know how bad the likes of Thrash and Pinkston were week to week. Outsiders looked at their names and thought they can't be that bad. But they were the main reason McNabb looked so bad throwing to WRs. Brown will be a more inviting target.

Am I the only one that thinks that too many people think they are the only one thinks that Brown is a sleeper for him to actually be a sleeper.

Two of those three teams have Top 5 rushing runningbacks, and the other team is pass-happy.I'll leave it to you to figure that out and why Brown > Toomer or Lloyd.

Do you think this is why the Eagles did not go after Eric Moulds more in FA?
I agree with a previous post, that it was probably the price. However, this was the single, worst move made this off season. The Eagles could have had a stud #1 WR again, for cheap. (Trade cost, not salary cost) This would have allowed Brown to continue to develop against lesser DBs, and they would have been in great shape for another playoff run. It's going to be REAL tough now, in that division.

1. Nate was taken by most of the FF community to soon last year. The injury certainly hurt but many put his name next to the stats of the guy he was replacing, Randy Moss. Seemed to be to much for him to handle. I see the same happening to Reggie. He's not TO and many think now that TO is gone that someone, Reggie, will have to replace those numbers. Hence finding one reason for his preseason hype.2. Completely agree. If you can't see that watching him then your really not watching closely enough.

3. Some of the news coming from Philly has indicated that Westbrook could be getting more action in the passing game. LJ is the sleeper here IMO. After that we could see Pinkston and Brown splitting receptions.

Reggie Brown at 52 week high. SELL NOW!!!

Reggie Brown's last five games in 2005, his rookie season:

37 targets 23 receptions 62% 236 yds 10.0 ypc 2 TDs

McMahon on the season 2005

94 comp on 209 attempts 45% 1158 yds 12.3 ypc 5 TDs and 8 Ints

Looks like Reggie Brown had a much better percentage of catches than McMahon threw. I'll think a healthy McNabb improves that a great deal. No way that Brown keeps his early summer ADP, but if he does, you better get him on your team.

 for Bass on his early moves to get Brown.

I agree. How is this guy a real sleeper? He's going in the 6th-7th round of most of my leagues. There's not a lot of margin for error in that range.

Because the fantasy sites/publications were all over Reggie, he can't be considered value...he's being drafted too early for my taste.

I think Brown will be outstanding this season. That being said, I live immediately outside of Philadelphia, and like Westbrook and McNabb annually, Reggie Brown will drafted too soon for me!

Too many :homer: s for me.

Rotoworld.

Eagles No. 1 WR Reggie Brown injured his hamstring Friday.

It's his left hamstring. Brown, a key to the Eagles' offense in 2006, is out indefinitely. With plenty of time left, Brown will likely be healthy for the start of the season. But he needed the reps and if the injury sidelines him well into camp, Brown's progress could be stunted.

You think 7/8 is too early?Hmm, his stock has risen about a half round in the past month (WR30@8.01 to WR29@7.06).

I guess I wouldn't call him great value, but I think he still has better than ADP value at WR.

Brown will be drafted to early for his performance. I don't see him getting more then 850 yards and 5 td's. The weapons in Eagle town are many with Westbrook, L.J. Smith, Lewis. He is worth a roster spot on your FF team, but I would not want to count on him for more then a 3/4 WR/spot starter.
