Reggie Bush - A stronger Michael Vick? (1 Viewer)

"The freshman did indeed dazzle that spring. Michael (Vick) ran the 40 in 4.33 seconds and posted a vertical leap of 40 1/2 inches. Both were school records for quarterbacks."

Then,

Clipped from the San Diego Mercury: "Working in front of about 150 scouts and personnel officials, a group that included four head coaches and several general managers, Bush was surgically proficient in every drill in which he participated. He posted an eye-opening 40½-inch vertical jump, performed a very solid 24 repetitions on the standard 225-pound bench press, and was clocked in the 40-yard sprint in 4.37-4.41 seconds, according to a few scouts. The electronic times for Bush were a little quicker, in the 4.33-4.37 range."

The reported time has been 4.33 seconds on all news reports

Sound familiar? A running back with Michael Vick's speed. Now, Vick supposedly improved his 40 time over the years to 4.25 but he never participated in the NFL combine either and if someone has his Pro Day stats, I'd like to see them. So, a running back that is just as fast as Michael Vick, but STRONGER!! Um, look out!

Plenty of RBs have posted similar numbers so I wouldn't quite start overhyping Bush here.

Tatum Bell had a 4.34 40, 38.5 Vertical, and 24 bench presses...

And only a 9'9" broad jump (compared to 10'8"). As far as all-around workout numbers, only two or three backs in the past few years have rivaled Bush.

So, Tatum Bell's stats weren't as good. Secondly, we all know Tatum Bell is only good for 11 carries. Three, don't you think Reggie Bush's cutback ability and pass catching ability rank him a little higher than Bell. Not to mention work ethic? Everyone knew Marshall Faulk was the bomb from his sophomore season at San Diego St. onward and everyone knows Bush is the next best thing since sliced bread. Don't be jealous.

Yeah but in your original post, you specifically were pointing out Bush's speed and strength in terms of bench reps so I followed suit. As far as overall ability and the other stuff, there's a rare few that could hold a candle to Bush.
