"Reggie Bush will be an average NFL player at (1 Viewer)

3. Weak Pac-10 defenses made him look better than he is

I don't think he'll be average, but this is a tremendous statement.

I've been saying that all year. I don't think he'll be average either, but the PAC-10 hasn't exactly been a juggernaught of a conference....ever?

They have ONE of the past three National Championships, and if they had to play Auburn that year, they wouldn't have any. They have been the 2nd best team in the nation for three years which is pretty impressive.I'm really not interested in bashing the Pac 10 anymore, but I have to put the facts out there.

The Texans were smart to pass on one of the most overrated players to come out of college this side of Ryan Leaf.

Here are the reasons Bush is overrated and while he may not fail in the NFL, he will be extremely dissapointing.

1. Size

2. Lack of speed

3. Weak Pac-10 defenses made him look better than he is

4. NFL type offensive line opening holes that General Malaise could run through

5. Wasn't in for the last play in the national championship game, 2nd round pick in the draft was in instead

6. USC trojans have a history of failure

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Stopped reading at "lack of speed". You lost any credibility there.

5 out of 6 isn't bad.

:fishing:

1. Size: 5'11" and 200 pounds. Sounds suspiciously like Walter Payton,

2. Lack of speed: Was it the 4.3 40 time that convinced you of this or the number of DBs he blew past like they were standing still?

3. Weak Pac-10 defenses made him look better than he is: Marshall Faulk played for San Diego State for cripes sake.

4. NFL type offensive line opening holes that General Malaise could run through: The o-line was great, but they didnt produce the ankle breaking open field moves and break away speed around the corner that the video tape shows.

5. Wasn't in for the last play in the national championship game, 2nd round pick in the draft was in instead:

Have to admit i'm at a loss on that one.

6. USC trojans have a history of failure:

Marcus Allen might take exception to that.

I think Bush has been overhyped, but that doesnt mean he isnt great and deserve to be the #1 pick, especially in this weak of a draft.

Shocking. Next time I'm in Cali maybe you can show me your trophy case. I'm sure if it were that simple, the BCS would have made one for you.Of course an asterix on a website is more telling than the actual trophy that they give to the actual winners.

They passed him up for a guy who couldn't even lead his college team to a .500 in conference record.• By the numbers: As for the Texans' contention that they chose Williams over Bush because their needs were more on the defensive side, consider this: Williams played on a North Carolina State unit that in 2005 statistically ranked as the ACC's third-best defense. Fourth in defense versus the run, fourth in defense against the pass, and No. 3 overall. Among his teammates were a pair of fellow first-round selections, defensive end Manny Lawson (San Francisco) and defensive tackle John McCargo (Buffalo), along with linebacker Stephen Tulloch, who was chosen by Tennessee in the fourth round. And the team's record, despite having four defenders chosen among the top 116 players in the draft, was 7-5 overall and 3-5 in the conference.

Wow. Great spot. They're still jumping in the boat even after the hook's exposed. You think they'll filet themselves, too, or is that too much to hope for?

Would love to see this fishing trip turn into a quality post...any Reggie Bush projections in New Orleans?

In Texas, I thought he might have 1400 total yards and 10 total TDs

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
lolis that like his college numbers and including 500 kick return yards, 500 punt return yards, and 4 return touchdowns???

"Reggie Bush averaged 215 yards a game" yeah, great, but a good 75-100 of them were return yards...

let's talk bout the good RBs, the ones who ran for 160 yards/game something like that...

lolyes, he did do that...

the point is that Reggie Bush is overhyped because he returned punts and kicks...

is he a great athlete? Yes...might he be great player? Yeah...

but do we really have any clue based upon his half-time games at USC? Nope...

10 rushes, 4 catches, and 7 returns might be 20 touches, but we can't really gauge how good of a player someone is going to be in the NFL by that, they aren't going to be returning kick/punts like that in the NFL

yes, but that is only 1536 yards... 1536/13 = ~120...they were saying he averaged like 200 yards/game his Senior year at USC, which proves how great of an athlete he is...

no, we really don't...if he was so great on offense, why'd they let him keep averaging 17 yards/kick return all season rather than give him 5 more carries or catches???

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
crazy thought: because they were winning?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
they were winning so they let the best player ever return kicks and risk injuries but not run or catch the ball???seems kind of contradictory...

I edited this because I thought you were talking about 03. My bad. But I never said they didn't win it in 04.On second thought. Screw it. USC is a three time champion because you want it to be true.(sorry Texas, these guys say it's true so what can I tell you) Auburn was also a champion two years ago. And while we're at it LSU was pretty good last year, and they had some hardships so I'm going to go ahead and give them a Championship as well. GEAUX TIGERS! :hophead:

Trust me, I really hope that Bush turns out to be like a Metcalf since the Texans passed on him, but I think it was a major mistake to pass this guy up.

You are ignorant.  You are also incorrect.  I'm just trying to set the record straight.  If you want me to shut up then stop posting your opinion as if it were fact.

Well, first time posting here and I do love fishing....

I don't think you can say Bush will be a bust (ok, you can SAY it, I just would argue the accuracy of such a statement), but you have to keep his projected numbers down for the first season or so, since he's sharing a backfield.

He's a great looking player -- whether that translates or not is an entirely other thing. Plenty of great college players haven't cut the mustard in the NFL.

What conference had the #1 pick and completely owned the first round?

ACC n SEC = NFL breading grounds!
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Big10 churns out some good linemen too.

...and that's about it, save a Ohio State player or two.
