"Reggie Bush will be an average NFL player at (1 Viewer)

Joe T

The Texans were smart to pass on one of the most overrated players to come out of college this side of Ryan Leaf.

Here are the reasons Bush is overrated and while he may not fail in the NFL, he will be extremely dissapointing.

1. Size

2. Lack of speed

3. Weak Pac-10 defenses made him look better than he is

4. NFL type offensive line opening holes that General Malaise could run through

5. Wasn't in for the last play in the national championship game, 2nd round pick in the draft was in instead

6. USC trojans have a history of failure

JoeT - list some "average" NFL RB's so i know who you are projecting reggie bush to be equal to

TIA

Level of competition faced in college was pretty poor.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
How many games did he play in where the opposing team was ranked in the top 20-25 at the time...I seem to recall that USC did face some pretty good teams. Beat Auburn in their home stadium pretty easily...they went undefeated the next season...you can't say SC faced weak competition...absolutely destroyed Oklahoma...when your the best team...every team is weak.

5. You give it to thunder on the goalline, not lightning

6. :lmao:

1. Size: What's wrong with his size? DId you watch him bounce off his own head and into the end zone. This guy is tough

2. Speed: R U Kidding me?

3. Pac-10: major conference...football in the pac-10 is fun to wacth and there is loads of talent there.

4. Oline: Good Oline just like many other major schools.

5. ??? Talk to Pete Carroll

6. O.J. Simpson was a real bust in the NFL

3. Weak Pac-10 defenses made him look better than he is

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I don't think he'll be average, but this is a tremendous statement.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I've been saying that all year. I don't think he'll be average either, but the PAC-10 hasn't exactly been a juggernaught of a conference....ever?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Three out of the last 4 Heisman Trophies, 2 of the last 3 National ChampionshipsPac10 = Conference of Champions

If you change this thread to average Fantasy Football RB you might get a better response. To say that he will be an average NFL player is just silly. He will have an imediate impact on the game every time he steps on the field, including special teams.

Sure he may not put up godly FF numbers but he will be successful in the NFL.

Sounds like another JoeT :fishing:

So what you're saying is that NFL franchises shouldn't draft anyone without these qualifications:

1. Big

2. Fast

3. Big 12 or ACC competition

4. Crappy linemen

5. Didn't share the backfield with another productive back

Gotcha

3. Weak Pac-10 defenses made him look better than he is

Fixed.

Pac10 = Conference of Champions with one great team and no defense.

So I guess we'll just take Texas from the Big12 and Miami from the ACC etc. etc.

I left this one separate:

6. USC trojans have a history of failure

Let's see:

OJ Simpson

Marcus Allen

Charles White

Yep. No success there.

Against good ACC VA TEch defense bush only went for 9 rush for 27 yards...3 YPC.Against auburn he went for 5 rush for 9 yards no tds.

Michigan 8 for 41 no tds.

Notre dame 8 for 25 no tds.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Receiving Yards and Special Teams?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
2nd pick in the draft for a special teamer? He also had a left handed QB handing him the ball in College, his speed will be slowed by a righty.

Keep in mind he has never had true Southern food, his waist line should start to look like White's real soon.

10/15/05 at Notre Dame 34-31 15 163 3TDs 4 35

01/04/06 Texas 38-41 13 84 1TD 6 95

Guy is horrid....

This is a minor issue, but he's right there with Portis, Barber, Westbrook, and Faulk. Ten more pounds would be nice, but he's big enough.
2. Lack of speed
He's the fastest RB to be chosen in the first round since Michael Bennett. Speed is not an issue.
3. Weak Pac-10 defenses made him look better than he is
No one expects him to average 8 YPC in the NFL.
4. NFL type offensive line opening holes that General Malaise could run through
That's why it helps to be so quick.
5. Wasn't in for the last play in the national championship game, 2nd round pick in the draft was in instead
Weak argument. Tiki loses goal line touches to Brandon Jacobs. Who's better?
6. USC trojans have a history of failure

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Irrelevant.

Some real powerhouse defenses on this list.

Would love to see this fishing trip turn into a quality post...any Reggie Bush projections in New Orleans?

In Texas, I thought he might have 1400 total yards and 10 total TDs

I don't think anyone was calling the Big East "Conference of Champions" when Miami was winning titles and the rest of the conference got crushed by Miami, pummeled Rutgers and Temple, and split the rest of the their conference games every season.

They have ONE of the past three National Championships, and if they had to play Auburn that year, they wouldn't have any. They have been the 2nd best team in the nation for three years which is pretty impressive.I'm really not interested in bashing the Pac 10 anymore, but I have to put the facts out there.
