Regular Season payout vs. Playoff payout (1 Viewer)

I've been playing in a league with some college buddies for what will be our seventh year. In regards to our payouts, half the league argues that regular season should be paid out more because it is more indicitive of your team and how they performed over the course of a year. I argue on the side that what does the regular season mean and winning the playoffs should account for everything. Is it luck that wins championships or an easy schedule that gets you the #1 seed.

Any other FFLers deal with payouts involving regular season vs. playoffs and how you resolve it?

One league:

Cost is $50 per owner = $700 cash potMFL Costs = $70 in 2004, but it will obviously be subject to change in 2005 and future years. As is, the rest of the pot will be split as follows:$5/weekly high score for 17 weeks. In the unlikely event of a tie (based upon the complexity of league scoring), ties will split the weekly pot accordingly. $200 to championship winner$125 to runner up$75 to 3rd place$50 to 4th place$20 to 5th place$50 to high total points$25 to 2nd total points
Can't remember my other pay league because they use some weird % breakdowns.

2 leagues

$150 league fee

Super bowl winner-$570

·2nd place -$250

·3rd & 4th place-$50 each

·Division winners- $200 each

·Best regular season record- $50

·$130 for web site (CBS)

This is in my leagues’ bylaws.

PAYOUTS

Only the top three playoff winners will receive a cut. No money for regular season winner, and there is no money of any kind of consolation winner. Because some money will be used for a trophy and other miscellaneous, items, we don't know of an actual dollar amount that will be left. So, the payouts are as follows:

First place - 65 percent

Second place - 20 percent

Third place - 15 percent

We will also increase the buy in by $5 every year.

That being said I have had the best overall record 2 times in 3 years and made the playoffs every year but have only won a single playoff game in that time mostly due to injury.

I'm favor of the best record getting their money back.

12 Teams

3 Divisions

$250 entry/team + transaction fees

We have a pretty standard payout :

1st - 65%

2nd - 25%

3rd - 10%

We used to pay out to each division winner as well but have removed that from the payouts and will try something new this year.

In the past we have always had our championship in week 17. This year we are moving the championship to week 16 and week 17 will be our Pro Bowl.

Here's our rule:

Week 17 will be reserved for the Pro Bowl. For the Pro Bowl, each division will compile a team of the best players from their respective divisions. The 3 teams will compete for bragging rights and an incentive for all teams to enjoy the league throughout the end of the year. The winning division will receive cash pay-outs of $100 per team ($400 total) and will have the right to select the beer and food at the following years draft. The losing division will be responsible for providing the food and beer that the winning divison has selected.

Bragging rights in our league go way further than cash.

We do 70% for the champ and 30% for the regular season winner.

The nice thing is that in a good year you can win all the money.
