Doesn't sound serious, but concerning. Impact on Moss?

Jets CB Darrelle Revis dealing with hamstring injury

Darrelle Revis was limited in practice on Thursday with tightness in his hamstring. Still, coach Rex Ryan said he expected the Pro Bowler to play in Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.

"I'm not overly concerned right now," Ryan said. "But anytime it's a hamstring, you get a little nervous"

Revis returned to the Jets on Sept. 6 after a 36-day holdout. He played in the team's 10-9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday.

He is expected to be matched up with Patriots WR Randy Moss on Sunday. Ryan said that plan shouldn't change.

"No, I think the league's gonna make us put him on Moss," Ryan said. "We already made those statements."

Revis and Moss have engaged in a war of words this week, with Moss saying it was his offseason goal to get off of "Revis Island."

Revis, who called Moss a "slouch" last year, reiterated those comments this week.

Update, 4:12 p.m. ET: Revis described the injury later on Thursday, via the Newark Star-Ledger. "It's tightness," he said. "It's not anything that serious where I will not be playing Sunday."

Rex Ryan's attempt at head games....

Why would he reveal that to NE of all teams if it were true..

I smell tuna. And it's not from the strip club next door!

He's pretty straight forward, I think it's legitimate.

I could see this as a fake but it's not like that would change anything in the way the Pats prepare. Tom Brady is a great QB who will take what the defense gives him all day long. I still see a banner day for Welker and a ho-hum day for Moss. I wish it weren't so but it is.

Was back at practice today and Revis himself said no chance he misses the game.

Jets don't want to overwork him. He just returned to the team less than 2 weeks ago. He'll be full go.

Seriously. What is he going to do, throw Cromartie on him last minute as a "head game"? The only positive could be if Moss just started laughing so hard, he couldn't concentrate for the first couple of drives. My guess is the Jets spend a bulk of the game in the nickel package...Revis on Moss and Wilson and Cromartie on Welker.

Right on cue. Hold outs almost always lead to soft tissue nagging injuries througout the year.

He was not in football shape. He will get there, but he hurt himself Monday night because he had zero traning camp and live game action.

As a Dolphin fan I am thrilled. And hope this hamstring tenderness bothers him all year. He he he.

Agreed with the defensive backfield alignment. I see that favoring players like Faulk, Tate and Hernandez. I wouldn't be surprised if NE designs their passing plays to go primarily through those guys, where Moss and Welker run out deep to take Revis, Cromartie and Wilson out of the play and it opens up matchup problems underneath with Faulk, Tate and Hernandez lined up against LB's and Safeties. Tom Brady will take what comes to him, mixing in a deep strike once in a while to keep things honest. I don't see NE running the ball much.

Sounds like he's getting his excuse ready for when he gets beaten like a red headed stepchild by Moss this weekend. Very proactive of him.

Relax, he'll shut down Marshall twice much like he does every other stud wr.

Maybe. Or maybe he shuts him down on one leg :)

:angry:If he's actully hampered in any significant manner by that hammy, he's dead in the water against a determined Moss. If it's just a minor tweak, he should be fine and hold moss out of most of the game.

:lmao: Obviously he needs to be 100% to shut down Moss. A healthy Revis won't get torched, though.
