Ricky Williams (1 Viewer)

Everyone I talked to has at least one person in their league that jumped to pick up Ricky Williams. What Kind of move is that so close to play-offs. Are these our friends from Canada or what? It seems like most of us wanna wait until further notice and at least see if he even sets a helmet upon his head to practice. Can anyone really fathom having R. Williams RB Mia starring at you from your chosen lineup. please comment

I bid high on him in a dynasty because if he gets traded next year to a team that needs a back he has one or two good years left in him. I dropped D Huard for him so what did it cost me

I don't know if you're serious or  so i'll respond as if you're serious.

Can you name a better gamble at RB in week 11 of the season?

People aren't picking him up to put in their lineup for this week but as a low risk, high reward move for someone who has some dead weight sitting on their bench. Also, if you wait until "at least see if he even sets a helmet upon his head to practice", you may have missed the boat

It's called a longshot gamble and at this point in the season, I don't see a better one on the wire in my league.

i'd pick him up; you know miami is going to try to get as much as they can from him. how he'll do is anyone's guess but it's not like he's been touring india (or wherever it is he went).

Is he worth a gamble in dynasty? Definitely.

What about redraft? I'm not so sure. I have been holding the #1 WW spot for several weeks. Hard to decide if Ricky is "the one" to spend it on.

Canadians saw first hand how bad he is now, none of us are gonna pick him up.

I guess some people were still carrying Barry Sanders and had some extra roster space for Richard. Waste of a roster spot.

In a redraft I have DEN RBs Young/Henry, and right now I am considering dropping Henry for K. faulk...but I might exchange one pot head heading out the door for another one walking in.

With FWP, Bush and Young at RB, I just might roll the dice and add Ricky.

I'll be dropping Kolby Smith for him ASAP =)I like having deep benches.
Then I'd keep Kolby. Is there any news about what shape he's in? Does he way 170lbs again like last time?I like a good flyer, but with the Fins closing out against BAL, NE- I wouldn't expect too much from RW.No; I don't own Jesse Chatman

Well, I DO own Chatman, which is the only reason I'm considering taking a flyer on Williams. I'm considering dropping Derrick Ward for Mr. Chronic, since Ward was just filling in for me while Jacobs was down.

Henry may or may not be suspended but that seems like a big chance to take. You could be handing someone a piece of the puzzle for a playoff run.

have Chatman ... as RB3 on my team ... grabbed the Pot Head for insurance in case the Dolphins want to showcase him at the end of the year.

all it cost me was dropping Lamont Jordan ..........sooo why not ..??

I dropped a spare TE in one league and a spare QB in another. Got him in a dynasty by dropping Parrish. I have absolutely nothing to lose in any of those situations. In a fourth league, I'd have to drop a Fargas or Selvin which I'm not willing to do. It's all about potential at this point.

Ask the people who wanted to wait on Derek Anderson how that is turning out for them.Isn't the answer to this question pretty obvious? In most leagues of decent size and roster space, every starting RB and the vast majority of NFL #2 RBs are going to be on a roster. Because RBs are that valuable. If you wait to get them until they actually become the starter, it is very unlikely that you're going to get them.

Despite how Ricky did in Canada, he's got a track record of on-the-field success. He's even come back from being gone and had fantasy significant success. So he is going to rate higher as a long-shot than is a guy who hasn't had significant NFL carries. If you're not cutting a guy who is already achieving in order to pick up Ricky, then it's an obvious shark move.

My choices were Ricky, Wright (Buf) or hold Kolby Smith. Why not take a shot at Ricky, right? Just stick at the end of the bench and wait it out.

I took him in both my leagues. I have no intention of ever starting him, but now that bye weeks are over I have room on my roster for a long shot and if he's on my team and actually produces, that means he's not on someone else's.

To me, his performance in Canada doesn't tell me much more than what an NFL pre-season performance tells me with a veteran. So, the Canada non-success argument doesn't hold weight IMO.

Further, one season's NFL performance wouldn't tell you everything about the player. As a case in point, see Thomas Jones' utter failure as a RB in Arizona, followed by his performance on the Bucs and Bears.

Except now they're upping Priest's carries to 25 a game and I see no value in Smith unless he gets hurt. LJ is also not done for the season and by deep benches, I mean deep. Right now I have SJax, Edge, ADP, Brandon Jacobs, Kolby Smith & Maurice Morris to go along with a bunch of WR's that never get the start either...I think it's worth the flier. And like everyone else has said - if he comes in and produces, at least he's on my bench and not my opponents starting roster :goodposting:

yea, but Chatman is doing pretty good for what he has to work with and if you do not have any space on your your roster would you drop Chatman for him? ...I'm not.

If you come back after the suspension is over, do not go there again. TIA.J
