RIP Kevin Austin, Founder MyFantasyLeague (1 Viewer)

Words can't express the loss I am feeling this moment. The world lost a great guy in Kevin Austin. He created software that brought fantasy football out of the stone ages and into all of our lives. The ESPNs, Yahoos, and NFL paid tens of millions in software development costs to have inferior products to what Kevin and Mike Hall built at MyFantasyLeague.com. And this was just his business side. He was a great husband, great father and left this world way too early at 47. My thoughts go out to everyone he touched. He was one of the great guys in this world. He was loved by everyone and for good reason. Saddened beyond words.

RIP Mr. Austin.

As a programmer I truly can appreciate the efforts that went into the development of such a wonderful software achievement as myfantasyleague.com, that enable millions of us to enjoy this great hobby. My condolences to his family and friends who mourn his passing.

I never met him officially but I did have an interesting run in with him although I didn't speak with him. Back in 2009, I'm pretty sure it was that year, I was called on for jury duty in Milwaukee county. It sucked because just a year earlier I was on a jury in Brown county for six weeks (that was cool).

Anyway, I sat in three or four cases and wasn't picked on any. The last case I sat on involved myfantasyleague.com. There were about 40 jurors in there and it was near the Ned of the day so people wanted to get out of there. The judge asks if anyone has heard of the site and me and another guy raise our hands. He was older, didn't say much. Judge asks me a few things and I'm rattling off different leagues I've been in, might have mentioned FBGs and detailed a few of the things working with the software.

Lawyers and the plaintiff/defendant are eyeing me up. Maybe 15 more minutes go by and were dismissed. I never did follow up on that case however I never knew that site originated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin either. So, I learned something that day in court.

RIP Kevin

About 10 years ago we had a thread here talking about MFL. I mentioned in the thread I was having issues receiving MFL generated emails and Kevin PMed me asking how he can help solve the issue. He always went out of his way to make sure everyone had the best experience possible with MFL.

Wow, 47.....that sucks.

It sounds corny, but I don't think there's a member of this board who's life hasn't been made easier by using his software. He definitely put his stamp on the hobby and will be remembered for a loooong time by by just about everyone who played in an online league.

Very sad news. My condolences to his family, friends and coworkers. Can't thank him (and the rest of his team) enough for myfantasyleague.com

Had a lot of dealings and conversations with Kevin way back in the beginning days of MFL.com (late 1990's) and always found him to be a very pleasant guy. Way way too young. Thoughts and prayers to his family. RIP Kevin. Shout out to Mike Hall as well, hang in there bud.
