I've always wondered if the "myth" about injury-prone players is true. Rudi was the staple for always being in the lineup, correct?
He was before I got him.So much for the "he'll be fine after the extra rest from the bye week".I've always wondered if the "myth" about injury-prone players is true. Rudi was the staple for always being in the lineup, correct?
You and me both. One of the main reasons I was so happy to get Rudi at the 11 spot in my draft was because of his durability. He not only has been very consistent in terms of production but the guy doesn't miss time. Until this season. Oh well. Go Kenny Watson. He was before I got him.I've always wondered if the "myth" about injury-prone players is true. Rudi was the staple for always being in the lineup, correct?
meh, at this point I rather him just sit rather than risk injuring it further this weekend (and I don't even own Watson).Nothing really new here, but the latest...Kenny Watson-RB- Bengals Oct. 12 - 10:14 am et With Rudi Johnson (hamstring) still sidelined, Kenny Watson is readying himself to be the Bengals' starter again in Week 6.Carson Palmer revealed earlier in the week that he anticipates Watson playing a "great deal" against the Chiefs, but Watson himself says he thinks "Rudi is coming along good. I don't own Watson, do own Rudi and agree. If Rudi isn't ready for the full load then let him heal. Man...that is the worst case scenario for everyone.Well things sure got muddier now. Rudi practiced today. From RotoWorld:Rudi Johnson (hamstring) returned to practice Friday, but the Cincinnati Enquirer reports he'll likely alternate with Kenny Watson in Week 6.Rudi will probably get goal-line carries and is worth keeping in lineups against Kansas City as a flex. You should be able to do better at an RB2 spot. Watson would be a low-end flex play in points-per-reception leagues. It's possible the Bengals will continue to divvy up carries between the two backs in an effort to get their sagging rush offense jumpstarted.Source: Cincinnati Enquirer

Not for me. My opponent picked up Watson and has him in his lineup to start against me. I love the fact that he'll be splitting time with Rudi and that Rudi will likely get the goal line carries. I have to assume if he plays he's close to being healthy. It would be pretty stupid for Lewis to play him if he isn't ready. So we'll have to wait until Sunday or see what further reports we get today about how he's doing. I agree this does suck. Due to a stupid rule in my league that I hate I'd have to start both Rudi and Watson if Rudi returns. And yea I knowYep. I'd rather him sit a week now. I was thinking the same thing. But I have to wonder. Rudi didn't practice all week. He participates in this practice. Could this be a smoke screen for KC? Mabye Watson is really the guy here but they want KC to think otherwise...Ugh...though I had a good play with Watson this week. With Benson against Minny...yuck.Though, I was also pondering Wright against Miami (I guess I will pay more attention to the Jamal threads)
We'll have to see what info the injury report provides. If he was limited that could open the door for him to sit. If he practiced fully it's pretty much a lock he'll play. The Broncos have had similar situations the past two games - a player sitting Wednesday and Thursday and practicing Friday. One guy sat (Walker in Week 4) and the other started (Henry in Week 5).I was thinking the same thing. But I have to wonder. Rudi didn't practice all week. He participates in this practice. Returning to practice and practicing fully are two different things. I would like to know what happened here. Rudi Johnson, RB CINNews: According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, RB Rudi Johnson practiced Friday for the first time since injuring his hamstring 19 days ago in Seattle and was listed as probable for the the Bengals Week 6 game at Kansas City.Analysis: This is great news for owners of Johnson, but make sure to check our inactives page on Sunday morning to ensure Johnson is on the 45-man roster for the game before inserting him into your lineup. Things look good, however.

The smokescreen was C Palmer's quote earlier in the week re Watson. Watson will play extensively....on 3rd downsI was thinking the same thing. But I have to wonder. Rudi didn't practice all week. That wouldn't be a surprise. Here is the number of Watson's touches in the first two games when Rudi was healthy:1That's it. Maybe he's more involved this week but if the Bengals are listing Rudi as probable it's likely to assume he'll get his regular workload. I think the only hope for Watson is if the Bengals get a lead and run the ball 30-35 times. Maybe he'll get 8-10 carries that way. But if Rudi's healthy enough to play I'm not sure he'll be limited unless he re-aggravates the injury during the game. The smokescreen was C Palmer's quote earlier in the week re Watson. I'm in the same boat, division game as well. I won't start Rudi since I have other options but I hope he can limit Kenny's stats by playing. Not for me. My opponent picked up Watson and has him in his lineup to start against me. I love the fact that he'll be splitting time with Rudi and that Rudi will likely get the goal line carries. The only concern is whether the beat writer's report about Rudi losing some carries to Watson will be correct. So far this season - as I posted earlier - when Rudi's been healthy Watson has spent his days hanging out on the sidelines. What we don't know is how close to 100% Rudi is. If he's fully healthy, he'll get his normal workload in all probability. But if he's less than that perhaps the Bengals lower his touches and give some more to Watson to ensure Rudi stays healthy. To me, that's the only issue here and that's why Rudi brings some risk this week despite his proven talent. This is madness. Rudi Johnson one of the best running backs in the NFL is healthy and people are complaining. What the hell is going on here?. You got him now you put him in the lineup. When he gets his 100 yards and a TD against the Chiefs and you smile and be happy. Jeez.
Not really, but he is in one of the best offenses for a RB since the defense has to respect the passing game more than the running game.Him not having a 4.5 or above YPC is inexcusable in that offense and it shows his mediocrity. This is madness. Rudi Johnson one of the best running backs in the NFL is healthy.
Well to be fair he has only been in 2.5 games so far, one of them being vs the Ravens so the sample size is very small. He was the #9 RB last season and right now with the bye and injuries seems to left the FFL spotlight. When healthy, Rudi will return to RB1 form and have his share of good games. Not really, but he is in one of the best offenses for a RB since the defense has to respect the passing game more than the running game.Him not having a 4.5 or above YPC is inexcusable in that offense and it shows his mediocrity.
Not a good indication that Johnson will play a lot.. How can you be probable and also GTD.. Looks like Lewis is trying to throw the D off. I am not expecting Johnson to be much of a factor..Update from RotoWire with Lewis quotes (rather odd ones in my opinion):Coach Marvin Lewis said that a decision on the availability of Johnson, who is listed as having practiced fully Friday, won't be made until game-time Sunday, the Bengals' official site reports. "He's healthy to play; I'll make the decision," Lewis said Friday regarding Johnson, who is officially listed as probable. It's strange that he's being called a game-time decision with that injury designation, but at least the Bengals play an early game this week, so Johnson/Kenny Watson owners will be able to get confirmation on Rudi's status Sunday prior to kickoff. Our guess is that he goes, but check back with us for confirmation.

I believe Rudi is listed as Probable, not too often probably guys dont play. This is really starting to feel like there's an agenda beyond health here. Something isn't right.
almost never unless they get hurt in pregame.I believe Rudi is listed as Probable, not too often probably guys dont play. This is really starting to feel like there's an agenda beyond health here. Something isn't right.
That's the big question. I don't think there's any way to know. The Cincinnati Enquirer beat writer speculates they will alternate series. Maybe Bengals' homers can chime in to tell us how good this writer is. The primary issue is the Bengals haven't been running the ball much so far. Through the first four games they are averaging only 20 rushing attempts per game from the lead RB position. So if there's an equal split neither guy will probably do much unless one of them scores (likely Rudi since he would probably get the goal-line looks if he plays). If the Bengals try to emphasize the running game more they could run it 30-35 times a game and then both guys have the potential to be at least RB3s if the split is equal. If Rudi is deemed completely healthy and gets his normal workload Watson is toast. I posted earlier that in the first two games with a healthy Rudi Johnson, Watson got a grand total of 1 touch on a reception. That's it. So if Rudi's healthy or he gets off to a fast start and looks good then Watson could end up as a bystander again from a fantasy perspective. There's really no way to know what's going to happen because nobody knows how healthy Rudi is. Again, if he isn't close to 100% I think Lewis is a fool to play him at all. Why run the risk of further injuring his starting RB? That he's listed as probable strongly indicates he's ready to go but it is possible they still give some carries to Watson to ensure Rudi doesn't risk further injury and to keep him healthy for the rest of the season. How's that for a long winded way of saying I have no idea what's gonna happen? This blows. I picked up Watson as bye week player for FWP and thought this would be a great pick up, but it sounds as if Rudi plays and Watson gets minimal touches. So now do you think Watson spells Rudi enough to be worth having him in a line up?.
I can't speak for everyone but the only reason for me was because of the bye week fill. I have FWP, Henry & Young. Starting ADP and had D Williams. With only a 15 player roster where you start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1K & 1DEF it doesn't leave you very much wiggle room for bye week replacements. When I heard that Rudi was questionable and maybe doutbful it made Watson the obvious pick up over D William. Now I am doubting it and wondering if I go back out and use another move, which we only have 25 per year, and take one of the guys out there. which are Norwood, Turner, C Taylor, Turner or get D Williams back.I was gonna have to take a zero if Rudi didn't play (nobody is cutable on my roster)....so a splitting time Rudi is good news for meI don't know why all the sudden everyone is so high on Watson. He is a career backup that Cincy has been trying to get rid of for year by drafting fairly high RBs who get hurt every season.
I don't think Watson is any threat to a healthy Rudi Johnson. He isn't as talented and he doesn't bring the between-the-tackles game that Rudi does and that the Bengals need. However, he's looked decent when called upon the last two games and in a PPR league he has a little extra appeal because he's the third-down RB (although it's definitely worth noting again that Rudi has been much more involved in the passing game this season). I think the smart move for the Bengals is to give the No. 2 RB - regardless of who it is - 5-8 carries a game just to make sure Rudi stays healthy for the entire season. He's been incredibly durable until this season but this team definitely needs him if they want to make the playoffs so I think it's smart to cut back on his workload a little bit to ensure he stays on the field. Maybe that's what Lewis is thinking and we'll see Watson get more involved even if Rudi is healthy.I was gonna have to take a zero if Rudi didn't play (nobody is cutable on my roster)....so a splitting time Rudi is good news for meI don't know why all the sudden everyone is so high on Watson. Thanks. I'm definitely trying to figure this one out too because not only am I a Rudi owner but I picked up Watson this week for insurance and because of a stupid rule in my league that I hate I have to start him no matter what. So while I'm thrilled Rudi is back I'm hoping Watson gets something for me on Sunday so that I'm not stuck with a 0 in his spot. And Packerfans wasn't long winded it was a good perspective on the situation! Thanks
