Rueben Randle- With and without Nicks (1 Viewer)

If Nicks does get dealt, does Randle's upside increase dramatically? Like is he doing a half-season of 40/525/5?

Or does he benefit so much by being the third wheel matched up against the lesser CB?

He and Nicks right now have 45 and 41 targets respectively. So he is getting a decent 7 targets a game already, if only catching less than 50% of them. (20 rec).

He's still going to be matched up against the lesser CB. Cruz will command the #1 CB from opposing teams. Very few teams have 2 shutdown corners.

This... Essentially I see it this way. If Nicks stays he still holds Flex value every week. If Nicks is dealt though that value goes up closer to WR2 type value. As nobody else is really there to compete for targets past Cruz. And he'd go into an every down role for ROY.

Still though, I'd temper expectations on a trade being done.

Should become a very good #2 WR. I like Randle and have him on a few teams. He is never going to be an elite #1, but he has everything to be a great supporting player. In that offense he should be a candidate for 1000-1100 yards every season.

True, but the #2 CB is certainly better than the #3. However, if he gets Nicks' 8+ targets a game he's going to put up high WR2 numbers.

Randle's been going up against #2's for most of the year, methinks. When the Giants go with the 3WR set, Cruz moves to the slot and Randle is on the outside.

Just to give an example of how one guy ranks him, Randle is going to enter my lineup over Steve Smith at WR3, starting next week. With all the issues the Giants have at RB, we're likely to see them leaning on Eli (yikes), which means opportunities should remain available for Randle, even as the roster currently stands.

Agree with this.
